TEAM TARZAN LOG
|
READY: START Team Tarzan roster: Anastasia, Ikuo Ryuuzaki, Jack Kelly, Kasen Ibaraki, Keigo Asano, Kurogane, Kurt Wagner, Silver, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Yaeger, Yosuke Hanamura, Yugi Mutou. The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city. However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of the monkeys howling... This is the Team Tarzan Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Tarzan is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Objective 1 Part TwoObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

WEEK ONE OBJECTIVE
Of course, that might be because they've found themselves surrounded by thick foliage and vines, vibrant green and bursting with color. The sound of monkeys continues to echo overhead and snakes slither somewhere hidden. The party find themselves right in the middle of a clearing (strangely, a perfect circle in the middle) with several directions to go.
As soon as they gather themselves and all party members are accounted for, a ripple of wind whips through the leaves and vines, and two glowing lights appear before them. The lights flicker and bob, twirling around each other to form a purple spot before splitting off again. The red one will lead to a path on the left, while the blue one leads to the right. Both orbs bounce impatiently as they wait to be followed, briefly disappearing and reappearing to urge the group along. Together in unison they speak:
With an unseen force, members are pushed one way or another down a path and the orbs disappear ahead to guide them. Those gifted with abilities such as teleportation or flight will find themselves tangled up in vines more often than not, their range of motion now limited. The journey will take them quite some time, and with dangers such as pitfalls, wild animals, and even some other…surprises…it is important to stick together and forge ahead until the greenery lets up.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Explore the jungle and find the end of the paths!
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Submit at least 5 monster/animal fight threads.
The primary objective is required to "win" the week one objective! Completing the secondary objective is optional and may allow team members to gain extra tools/items for next week's objective. Threads which progress toward either objective should be reported to this toplevel. Your primary objective cannot be completed solo, and will require you to work as a team!
For this week's secondary objective, please comment here with exploration threads so that the moderators may provide you with information and clear the thread! The type of monsters include your typical jungle animals (large cats, snakes, birds, etc.), along with behemoth elephants, and some strangely familiar monkeys. If your characters go off the path, please also comment here for mod-guided threads for exploration!
At least 9 of 12 team members must participate to pass. You must also solve the objective; be sure to communicate with your teammates and please let the moderators know of any drastic player action; a mod top-level will go up should at least one group get close to the end of their path before the end of week one!

BLUE PATH NO. 1: ANYA, TATSUO, YAMATO
She follows her favorite color, apparently. Once everyone's waking up and settled, Anya is walking forward toward the path that the blue orb sent her down. There's a rifle at her back along with some ammo on her person, but otherwise she doesn't seem to have much else to take care of her. Regardless, she's a little too fearless and curious to be daunted.
There's a glance behind her and - ]
Осторожный... We should be careful, yes?

RED PATH NO. 1: YOSUKE, KEIGO, & KUROGANE
Well. It's either wait around or pick a side, right? "Both must be traveled", they said. Time to travel one.
Yosuke follows the strange floating red orb despite his better judgment--sometime you just have to throw caution to the wind, right? His really stupid-looking fan companion comes along with him, that he still doesn't understand. But...whatever. Nothing makes sense anymore. He keeps his left arm hanging at his side, the cast really making the humidity of the jungle pretty unbearable.
He (and his fan) aren't alone, though. Yosuke exhales through his nose and looks at the other two who came as well. ]
So...where does this rank on your "strangest thing I've done" meter? I'm at about a 7 right now.

BLUE (PARTIAL): Kurt, Jack and Yugi
It was just like a game, right?
Looking at the path, it was clear he was overthinking the situation. Sure, two paths, but having so many people split off may be ill mannered. Though he did believe that dividing and conquering was a good strategy, he felt like there was far more going on here. Sadly, he wasn’t going to have the chance to continue his overthinking process as they began to head down the path.
Yugi decided to be honest, however, to his teammates. ]
If any of those monsters show up, I’m not sure how much help I could be. I mean, I can plan a good strategy, but fighting isn’t one of my strong suits.
no subject
At least the kid's honest. Might as well give him the same courtesy. ]
Me neither. If we do come across any monsters, our best bet might be running for it. [ He glances at Kurt, skeptical. ] I don't suppose you've got anything that can stand up to them?

WEEK ONE OBJECTIVE - MET
Waiting for them are some rations and fresh canteens of water, little huts to sleep in (though no blankets or luxuries) and an assortment of odds and ends including tea sets, photos of the monsters in the jungle, clothing (mostly too small or too large) and other travel supplies. The jungle gets dangerous at night, but with the purple light surrounding them the monsters approach the camp but turn away not long after. It gives them the chance to see these creatures up-close…so long as they stay within the boundary lines. This boundary will be up until August 10th.
They’re free to explore the jungle and the river during the day! The animals seem much more calm in these parts during the day, and the river water is perfect to swim and bathe in. An abandoned camp stove sits in a corner and with some luck you may even be able to enjoy a homecooked meal with whatever you may find.
Congratulations, Team Tarzan! Stock up and rest while you wait for your teammates to join you.]
Setting up camp?
He watches the orbs mold into one, his new lizard companion clinging to his head as it has been most of the trek. But as interesting as the orbs are, he's immediately drawn to the huts. ]
Is this some sort of abandoned village...?
[ Upon closer inspection... ]
Hey---wait, is this...food??

dragging into camp
WEEK TWO OBJECTIVE
On the evening of August 10th, the soundtrack of the monsters is interrupted by a frantic honking of a vehicle. Several roars and hisses fill the area as tires tread through the mud, a safari jeep suddenly crashing right through the middle of camp. It continues to honk and seemingly won't stop until every party member gathers their belongings and climb in. There are no seat belts on this bad boy, so you may wish to hang on tight even if there may be items some party members are compelled to pick up.* As the jeep races through the darkened jungle, rain begins to pour and the party will pass several wild animals and vantage points in the jungle including other camps that have clearly been attacked. Glancing out the side, the party may also notice the red and blue orbs from before fly right beside the jeep. Over the river and through the trees, the jeep doesn't stop for at least an hour before it throws on the brakes and nearly kicks everyone out.
The party will find themselves in front of what appears to be a large temple. As they approach, a loud, animalistic voice echoes from inside.
All around them inside torches light up to reveal several hallways that split off from the main room. In the center of this room there's an altar with a large scarab beetle. This beetle is missing four pieces, and the red and blue orbs arrive to settle into slots five and six, transforming into solid colored glass.
Partner up and explore these ancient ruins. The only way out is to complete the puzzle.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Explore the tombs and find the four missing glass pieces.**
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Submit at least four different tomb explorations and solve the puzzles inside. Please note: some of these tombs will also have monsters.
The primary objective is required to "win" the week two objective! Completing the secondary objective is optional and may allow team members to gain extra tools/items for next week's objective. Threads which progress toward either objective should be reported to this toplevel. Your primary objective cannot be completed solo, and will require you to work as a team!
For this week's secondary objective, please comment here with directions you'd like to go and explorations of the tomb so that the moderators may provide you with information and clear the thread!
At least 9 of 12 team members must participate to pass. You must also solve the objective; be sure to communicate with your teammates and please let the moderators know of any drastic player action; for the primary objective, please let the moderators know what parts of the tomb you are checking as there may be traps, monsters or curses!
*At this time, if you put in for an item regain to be delivered during week 2, characters will now receive these items!

MINGLE - OTA, threadjack away!
When you've returned from wherever you went, Anya is sitting by the altar. Her idol dress is gently in pieces now as she's ripped off a part of the petticoat so that there's cloth on the ground to prevent dirt from the fruit she's cutting with a machete. There's also whatever canteens they managed to bring with them spread out as she hums gently underneath her breath.]
This I promise you... ♫
[And she'll perk up when she hears footsteps, offering a smile and a cut piece of melon.]
Добро пожаловать назад! Welcome back. Did you find something good?
[Alternatively, if you're more interested in something shitposty, she's definitely humming some rad idol tunes and doing a little dance and lost in her own world until someone shows up. Pick your poison.]
no subject
Still, nobody's dead (presumably???), and they even still have some supplies, so it could be a lot worse. Plus, even though idol music isn't his thing, Anya is genuinely entertaining--even when she's apparently not trying to be.]
An-chan, I know you're a hard worker, but under the circumstances I don't think anyone would mind if you slacked off on your practicing a little. [But he's only teasing, smile giving him away.] Is that for a new song?

WEEK TWO OBJECTIVE - MET
The altar splits in half and suddenly sprout up is a way out as monsters begin pouring out from their cellars and the ceiling begins to collapse. It's a race up to the top to outrun their doom.
Climbing higher and higher, the party will notice they're leaving the ground far behind and heading straight into the clouds. There's no turning back, and it feels like an eternity, but soon the party finds themselves inside a hunter's cabin.
Granted, there's now a gaping hole in the center, but it's there. Around them they'll find small packs with their names on them containing provisions for the week ahead. In addition, mounted on the walls the party will find several tapestries depicting strange events of some people they may know.
Take a breather, Tarzan. You have time and you're locked in until 9pm EST 8/17.]
Because why not.
Then she sees a group traveling through a mysterious laboratory, her eye caught by a head of pink hair and pink eyes. Kath's eyes widen as she traces the individual, recognizing who it is immediately. She partially thinks its a Retrospect trick again, but something in her says otherwise.
So she is safe, yet at the same time not really. Maybe if she'd been more careful they wouldn't have gotten separated
again. Relief and worry wash over her as she lowers her head in silence, hand still on the image.](no subject)

WEEK 3 OBJECTIVE
At their feet, however, appears to be twelve pairs of glass slippers. The party may put them on if they wish, but once they're out of their shelter the shoes begin to run down the path. The wind whispers a song about home, wishing to run away and be free. The party has no choice but to follow.
As the shoes lead them down the path they'll notice the castle looming in the distance. As they approach, a drawbridge lowers for them. Up close, the castle seems incredibly large and it looms over them. Several members of the party may remember a similar feeling when the world was so big and they were so small. Crossing the bridge after the shoes, the doors will swing open and the sound of royal trumpets blare from somewhere within.
Inside the castle proves to be massive, several stories higher than the party can even see. The throne room at the end of the castle is locked tight with two giant swords crossing over as a barrier. The shoes approach the throne room and slide up onto 12 pedestals as golden words scroll through the air.
All the king's horses and all the king's men will be needed to put your adventure to end
Well. That makes as much sense as anything else, doesn't it?
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Explore the castle and earn back the crown.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Submit at least four different room explorations and solve the puzzles/disable the traps within. Please note: some of these rooms will have curses/traps/monsters!
The primary objective is required to "win" the week three objective! Completing the secondary objective is optional and may allow team members to net higher rewards. Threads which progress toward either objective should be reported to this toplevel. Your primary objective cannot be completed solo, and will require you to work as a team!
For this week's secondary objective, please comment here with directions you'd like to go (please select a letter!) and any items/weapons/etc your character has on them. Please note: room C will be locked until all other rooms are opened/solved.
At least 9 of 12 team members must participate to pass. You must also solve the objective; be sure to communicate with your teammates and please let the moderators know of any drastic player action; for the primary objective/secondary objective, please check in with the moderator once you've solved your room!

Don't know about everybody else, but Anya's excited. Even with all the armor and the weapons that they have with them, she looks delighted? [ Not to rain on her parade or anything...! He's probably apprehensive enough for the both of them. ]

WEEK THREE OBJECTIVE - FINAL ROUND + WRAP-UP
The doors slowly open. With the tiara, the four weapons, the dress and everything else they've collected they're able to enter. In front of them are two very large thrones flanking the sides of a smaller one. In front of the smaller one is a dress form and it's clear that the dress and tiara belong on the form. Once the form is dressed, the party will hear the cackle of a witch and the caw of a crow and all will fall silent.
"It was never a choice!"
It's a voice Tatsuo and Yosuke will recognize, though the others won't. Without warning the castle begins to rumble and suddenly the ceiling caves in. Stones and dust crash and it's up to them to dodge as the air clears and they find themselves face to face with a large, fire-breathing dragon. Hooked on one of the dragon's top-most spikes is a crown, large and elaborate and surely the missing crown of the king. The party will have to use their combat skills, dodge, and fight to tame the dragon and win back the crown. This dragon cannot and should not be killed! However, it can be subdued by collaring it with the collar Kurt and Yugi found, and the rings will attach and expand to turn into reins to tie down the beast.
The Aftermath
Upon defeating the dragon and taming it, they will soon hear a voice in their minds as a message of thanks. The dragon will explain that this was not the change she wished for and that if she could she would take it all back. In gratitude, she will take the party home. The four weapons from the Feasting Hall soon disappear as they were never the real weapons. The real weapons are elsewhere.
Inside the crown, however, the party will also find a large scroll. Unraveling this scroll, they'll find the family crests of four families, though the names appear to be obscured. A wolf, a rabbit, a fish and a bear are featured on these crests as well in respective order. In addition they will find what appear to be several newspaper articles about the decline of the population in Recollé and the confirmed deaths/supposed ends of several prominent families. The Unreality obscures these names, but they will be available from another group working in Team One even if the party doesn't know that yet. They will find a letter inscribed to C. Vanderweele as well with information about all going according to plan and preserving the planet as it is. It will discuss the fact that Retrospec has completed settling its roots and that they are in the interview process now to ensure that things will go according to plan to rebuild as they need to.
Once the party is settled, the knights from the smithy will march in through the open door, lances swinging through the air to rip open portals as they step through. Sworn to follow the princess no matter what, they will disappear to meet the party back in the city. The princess will lower herself to allow the party to climb on her back and once they're mounted she'll take them, their companions, and any of the weapons they picked up from other objectives up into the air and over the clouds. Hold tight, guys. You have a long way to fly back to Recollé.

When the roof caves in, Anya yelps in alarm. She ducks and covers her head, sheathing the sword that she'd drawn pre-emptively when there was a chance of a boss battle.
That's just about confirmed now, isn't it? She gasps at the beast that appears before them, her hand falling over her furiously beating heart.]
Дракон...! A dragon!
[THAT'S PRETTY WILD, ISN'T IT?]
Not happy...?
