READY: START Team Tarzan roster: Anastasia, Ikuo Ryuuzaki, Jack Kelly, Kasen Ibaraki, Keigo Asano, Kurogane, Kurt Wagner, Silver, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Yaeger, Yosuke Hanamura, Yugi Mutou. The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city. However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of the monkeys howling... This is the Team Tarzan Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Tatsuo squints at the hourglass in the dim light.

"I think the glass has been cracked..."

He traces one of the cracks with one hand, careful to not actually touch the glass.

"Ugh, I need more light."

Tatsuo goes back out into the hallway to grab a couple of torches, one of which he offers to Jaeger upon return.

Oh, thank you!

[Now that he can actually see the designs on the wall he's just even more confused. It looks like they should be able to get under the floor, maybe...?

He'll turn back to the hourglass though and once he notices something shining in the bottom he'll move to tap on the glass.]

It doesn't seem too thick, I should be able to break it.

[He's not making any move to do so yet, though.]

"It just seems too easy..."

When in doubt, be suspicious.

"Not to mention, there is the whole buried under sand thing going on in those paintings. I don't fancy tripping some sort of trap. Maybe there's a secret panel or trap door somewhere."

Tatsuo moves to search the walls, examining them in a methodical manner. Suffice to say, he's a bit disappointed when he finds nothing.

No, I agree. In a temple like this, traps are practically a given. We'll have to be careful!

[While Tatsuo checks the walls, Jaeger checks the floor. There doesn't seem to be anything he can move or loosen around the hourglass, despite what the paintings seem to imply.]

Tatsuo makes an annoyed sound as he finishes looking the walls over.

"So far nothing... but man, how the hell did they get this hourglass in here in the first place?"

He crouches down next to the hourglass and takes a closer look at the base.

That's what I've been wondering. I doubt they built the temple around the hourglass, so how did they get it in here?

[Jaeger circles around the hourglass before frowning.]

Look, do you see that? It looks like there's something in the bottom there.

Tatsuo holds his torch a bit closer to the side of the hourglass.

"You're right! There is something in there. Can't quite see what it is though."

He frowns. To break or not to break. That is the question.

[scythegun]

What do you think, should we break it?

[He's already got his finger over the button on his briefcase to transform it, but he'll wait for a moment to see what Tatsuo thinks.]

Let me try something first.

[Tatsuo puts his shoulder against the hourglass and pushes. Hey, maybe the hourglass covers a trap door?

Instead... they hear a pounding noise coming from inside.]

Um... please tell me you hear that too.

[scythegun]

[Jaeger will move to help Tatsuo push the hourglass, though once the pounding starts, he stops.]

What is that? Is there something inside here?

[Something and not someone, hopefully.]

[Tatsuo takes a step back from the hourglass. The moment they stop pushing the thing, the pounding stops.]

That was creepy.

[Damnit. He really just wants to leave this thing alone. But... that orange thing in the bottom. If it IS a piece of the scarab, they need.]

Maybe we should break it... but it'd be a pain to sift through all that sand.

[That's interesting. Creepy, but interesting.]

Ja, it certainly would be. Perhaps if we try poking smaller holes...? What do you think?

Yeah. Let's start with that. See if we can get some of that sand out before we bust the bottom.

[He taps the top half of the hourglass in a few places, indicating where he thinks it might be good to put said holes.]

Do you have anything with you to poke the holes with? I have my guns but I don't know if a bullet won't just shatter the whole thing...

[scythegun]

[Jaeger takes a step back and transforms his briefcase into a sword. Because that's totally how weapons work, don't ask me this is a stupid game.]

I have a sword I can use! That should be a bit better than a bullet, ja?

[thisloveisjustice]

[Tatsuo blinks.]

Well. That's different.

[He shrugs.]

Go for it. If it doesn't work, I'll just shoot it.

[scythegun]

Isn't it wonderful?

[He could gush about his unique weapon all day, but he's not here for that right now so he simply uses the tip of the sword to create a small hole in the top of the hourglass.

There's a sound that comes with it that Jaeger at first thinks is the wind whistling but after a moment of listening, um...]

You don't think that's screaming do you?

[A shiver runs down Tatsuo's spine.]

I really, really hope not. Quick, a few more holes. The faster we drain this thing, the faster we can get to whatever is in the bottom and we can leave.

[scythegun]

Sounds good to me!

[He'll do exactly that, poking a few more holes where he's certain he won't just shatter the glass outright. This is creepy and he can't wait to get out of here.]

[Once the majority of the sand has drained out of the top half of the hourglass, Tatsuo figures that's probably good enough. That, and he really can't stand to listen to the screaming any more.]

Okay. Let's crack this open.

[scythegun]

[Yeah, it's really creepy... Maybe it'll make for a good ghost story later on but for right now Jaeger's got no objections to shattering the bottom half of the hourglass. He does that easily, bringing the sword across it to break as much of the glass along the bottom as he can.]

[Once the glass shatters, the scream intensifies as the sand spills out. The orange piece inside the sand disappears immediately and the sand begins to swirl around in a hurricane. It soon settles in the back of the room in the form of a large, sand-formed scorpion with the orange piece in one of its pinchers and the other pointed directly at Yeager and Tatsuo.

What now, guys?]

No, of course it wouldn't be that easy.

[Tatsuo pulls out a gun and fires a shot at the scorpion. He's fairly certain it won't have an affect, but he won't know until he checks.]

[scythegun]

[Jaeger sighs but his expression is bright when he switches his weapon to scythe form to take a swing at the scorpion. Sure, it's made of sand and this will probably do nothing useful, but you never know until you try~!]

[recollecters]

[It is just sand, actually. The bullet zips through the sand and displaces some of it, and the scythe hacks off a chunk of the scorpion's claw. It's large and obnoxious, but not entirely unbeatable. However, now it's also pretty angry that they're putting up a fight. Its tail rears and the scorpion moves, launching balls of sand from its stinger directly at the two of them while the claw rests on the ground and the sand gravitates toward the original form to rebuild itself.]

Shit.

[Tatsuo dodges the ball of sand, feeling it fly past him. For all it's just sand, that probably would hurt if it actually hit him.]

I'll be bait. It'll pull itself together, but that gives us a window.

[He fires another shot through the scorpion.]

Hey. Sandy! Over here.
