TEAM TARZAN LOG
READY: START Team Tarzan roster: Anastasia, Ikuo Ryuuzaki, Jack Kelly, Kasen Ibaraki, Keigo Asano, Kurogane, Kurt Wagner, Silver, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Yaeger, Yosuke Hanamura, Yugi Mutou. The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city. However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of the monkeys howling... This is the Team Tarzan Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Tarzan is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Objective 1 Part TwoObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

...Wait a second. ]
There's some sheets on the bed. We could go old school and tie 'em together and climb down?
[ It's not like they have many other options?? So Jack will just get right to work on that, undoing the sheets, tying one corner to the end of the bed, tying the other together... He has to push the bed closer to the window to extend its reach, and grab a few of the girl's spare dresses (he makes a point to pick the plainer ones, ones that are less likely to be missed than the rest), but soon enough, they have a serviceable rope. ]
You wanna go first or should I?
no subject
yikes. well, it wasn't surprising, since it felt like an eternity climbing up those stairs in the first place. ]
Uh, well. Maybe you should. You've got that armor and stuff... if the blankets and shit rip and I'm already at the bottom, you're gonna end up a pancake. At least if I wait... maybe I could pull you back up, y'know?
[ he hoped that made sense... ]

Frowning thoughtfully, Jack pauses to mull over the the problem. The armor does pose a danger just by virtue of being so damn heavy. Is it worth keeping the stuff, and rely on the chance the sheets to hold together for them? What happens if they rip and Keigo's stuck up here? Is he gonna have to wait until he can grow his hair out long enough to climb out by himself?
He comes to a decision all at once, giving a quick shrug. ]
I've gotten this far without armor.
[ And with that, he just starts taking it all off, carelessly dumping each piece on the floor. If it's just going to get in the way, there's no point in keeping it, anyways. Then they can get this show on the road. ]

W-w-w-wait!! That's no good! If somethin' really bad happens down there and you don't got any armor, you're gonna get hurt!
[ maybe he was trying to delay the inevitable, but: ]
At least if you get down there first with all of that, you've got a better chance of survivin' than I do, anyway!!
no subject
It's not worth the risk of ripping our only way down. Besides, we're armed now, aren't we? It's not like we'll be defenseless out there.
[ Aaaaand there goes the last piece. It was too heavy for him to get used to, anyway, even without a full suit of armor. With that done, Jack heads over to the window to get a peek outside for an idea of what they're in for, and grabs the makeshift rope to test it out. It looks okay? Feels okay? But there's no telling if it's actually okay until someone starts climbing down.
Before he goes, though, he levels his gaze at Keigo. ]
Look, I can't move with that stuff, and speed's the only thing I've got. [ The struggle of being a track athlete. ] If you want it for yourself, we can lower it down after I hit the ground, okay? But honestly, I'm probably better off without it.
[ He'll wait a moment for answer, but since they don't have much other choice but to climb, it won't be for long. Jack isn't staying in this stupid castle forever. ]

Gah... fine. If you feel you'll be alright...
[ ...he deflated with a sigh. he looked at their makeshift rope, then toward the window, and gave jack a nod. ]
Let's just get out of here.
no subject
WHATEVER it's time to get climbing. ]
I'll give it a tug when I reach the bottom. I dunno if you'll feel that, but... [ They'll find out?? ] Just go when you're ready, I guess.
[ And out the window he goes, slowly but surely making his way down. His muscles are still a little sore from the climb up the beanstalk while wearing the dumb armor, but he keeps going anyway, praying the rope will hold long enough to get them both out of there... or at least, long enough to get them to a safe enough height to jump down.
After what feels like forever, Jack finally sees the ground below, and speeds up his descent in excitement. Almost there - a small jump - yes! Grinning, he gives the rope a tug and stands by to wait.
Thorns. There are thorns everywhere. He almost regrets taking off the armor, but before he can entertain that thought for much longer, something catches his eye. The glint of the sunlight, reflecting off of something among the thorn bushes... Shading his eyes, Jack takes a step closer to get a better look. ]
I see something! [ Squints. Is that...? ] I think it's a crown!
no subject
he wasn't the most athletic person, but his upper body strength was solid enough to get him down in decent time. as he went, he could see the stretch of thorny plants with a quick glance, and once he was close enough to the ground to hop off, he did so carefully. even if they were just thorns, the idea of getting pricked by them wasn't pleasant. ]
Uwah... so much for this being a breeze... but...
[ he squinted in the direction jack seemed to be looking, and sure enough... ]
Yeah, I think you're right! So... how do we get it?
no subject
[ Surrounded by thorns and not a single useful branch in sight. Jack hadn't thought to bring a rope, either... His eyes scan the area, looking for something useful. ]
...Let me try something.
[ Excuse him while he draws his sword and leans over the bushes to see if he can reach. Almost... there... ]
no subject
...Couldn't you cut through them? Is it sharp enough?
no subject
These things aren't made for hacking down bushes, are they? Maybe if we had an axe...
[ It doesn't seem right somehow?? But he can't argue with Keigo's logic. At the very least, he should be able to cut through just enough of the thorn bushes to catch that tiara on the blade...
So once he's sure Keigo is out of cutting range, he goes for it. It takes a bit of work, and it's not very efficient - at least not how Jack does it? It's not a machete, for crying out loud - but, well. It does get him close enough to grab it, he supposes, so it's time to try again. He takes a deep breath to steel himself, leans over, and...
Success! ]
I've got it!
[ Except that he's kind of wobbling there?! Please save him so he doesn't lose his balance and fall in the thorns! ]
no subject
but, jack succeeds! the tiara was in grasp! but... ]
Uwah! You're gonna fall!!
[ without much thought, keigo lunged forward and grabbed jack around the waist, pulling backwards, back towards the tower. he didn't have any gauze on him, so he wouldn't be a very good medic right then! ]
no subject
Thanks, buddy. I'd be picking thorns out of me for days if you hadn't caught me.
[ With the immediate crisis out of the way, he pulls the tiara off of the sword to give a good, hard look. It's about what you'd expect from something like this - fancy, lots of gems, intricate patterns of gold... Fit for a princess, he'd say, glancing back up at the tower. Wonder what happened to her.
Welp, no use dwelling on the past, is there? Whoever this thing belonged to, she's long gone now, and they need to get back to the rest of them. ]
Guess we'd better get going, huh?
no subject
It's no problem... I'm just glad you're okay.
[ he rubbed at his neck, slightly bashful for his impulsive concern, but the important part was that they had the tiara! ]
Yeah, I'd say we're all done here, don't you?
