Team Tarzan roster: Anastasia, Ikuo Ryuuzaki, Jack Kelly, Kasen Ibaraki, Keigo Asano, Kurogane, Kurt Wagner, Silver, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Yaeger, Yosuke Hanamura, Yugi Mutou.

The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city.

However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of the monkeys howling...

This is the Team Tarzan Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!

Hey, can we try not to stuff a bunch of bats in a coffin? [And she knows how dumb this sounds. She knows these aren't ordinary bats with how their acting, but its that bit of compassion that gets to the back of her mind again.] I'm fine with blowing the bats towards us, but I don't really see a reason for us to try to trap them like that.

[ An idea's an idea, so whatever. He's just getting ready to wrestle the dressings off the coffin when Kath speaks up again, eyebrows raising at her suggestion. ]

So what are you planning to do, then? Catch it right out of the air? Ask if it's willing to hand it over?

[ It's not like he'd been considering that last part, vampires and all. ]

[ What. What? ]

They're just bats! They'll be fine! Besides, they totally have the upper hand here. And he's right, it's not like we can just grab them. What else are we gonna do--throw the lizard at it?

[ Said lizard licks its eyeball. ]

[Its at this point she realized she may have jumped to a conclusion.]

Maybe I misunderstood what you said: I'm fine with putting them in the coffin to try and grab the glass, but I'm not fine with leaving them in there afterwards. [She looks into the coffin and back up with Yosuke. ] We can get the piece from them and then let them out.

[ What. ]

We never said we'd leave 'em in there, just long enough to get that thing they've been passing around. Once we got that, they can fly around in circles as long as they like.

[ He shrugs and goes back to work on the coffin, gathering up the dressings and trying to work it into a decent enough net for this. It'll be tricky, but if they can make it work...

With any luck, these are just regular bats and not vampires just waiting for a chance to suck their blood, but if they are, it's too late for them. With a satisfied nod, he turns to Yosuke. ]

Ready as I'll ever be.

[ Yosuke really shouldn't be judging considering his lizard buddy comes from the fact he saved it from getting trampled on while escaping a giant crocodile monster, but he is definitely feeling ain't nobody got time for that. Who knows, one of the bats might eat the glass! Well, they might be vampire bats. But let's hope their luck will hold out. ]

Yeah, it's not like we wanna keep 'em.

[ He certainly doesn't want one.

All that being said, he watches the bats start to settle a bit, while others still go crazy. But once Jack gives the OK, Yosuke nods. ]

Alright, Fanny--you're up! Direct it...

[ Looking at the group, he waits until he sees that green sheen. ]

There!

[ And vvrrrroooooOOOOMMM! Fanny gives it all it can! A large gust of wind sends the bats into another frenzy, but Yosuke does his best to keep an eye on the one with the glass. ]

No no, towards Jack! Blow it towards Jack!

[ Which, hey, Fanny likes Jack, so its excited to do so. ]

Well, ok then. [She nods, and moves to help Jack with putting the net together. There aren't really many bandages to work with, but they do manage to put together a...somewhat feasible net of sorts.

She is really hoping these bats don't bite. Or have rabies. Or are vampire bats. Or are an actual vampire. Now that would suck.

She nods to Yosuke and gets into position alongside Jack, watching as Fanny got into position. As soon as Yosuke gives the word, she nods and braces herself.] Try not to hurt any of the bats: we just want the glass piece.

Sure, sure.

[ For once, the fan's creepy obsession with him works out! The bats are getting corralled their way, but the hard part is catching the suckers. Somehow they manage to nab some of them, but the glass piece sneaks by them. ]

Missed! We gotta try again.

[ So many bats to keep track of! Yosuke has to nudge Fanny to get the swarm back into place. ]

Around, around! Turn 'em back around!

[ Really, Fanny, you're doing a great job. The lizard isn't helping at all, just holding on for dear life as Yosuke whips around. Somewhat serendipitously, the one holding the gem comes out to the head of the pack! ]

Watch out, it's coming your way!

I see it! [And she's ready for it.]

Get him before he turns and goes to the side! [She's gripping onto the net as if for dear life at this point.]

[ Jack spots it just in time and swoops down on it with the net. There's a tense moment of quiet as he checks and - yes! ]

We got it! Yosuke, you want to try and get the glass while we hold onto this guy? I don't want to loosen our grip too much and let it escape.

[ They got it? They go it! ]

Awww, yeah! Fanny, off. Off!

[ Rather than needing a whack this time, Fanny turns itself off. The bats are still going crazy above them, yes, but as long as they're not divebombing the team, they should be golden. ]

Yeah, sure thing!

[ He'll step right on up with a grin on his face. ]

Alright, little guy. Just hold still...

[ Which, of course, it likely doesn't want to. Now Yosuke is hesitant. ]

--Look, you gotta make sure this thing doesn't bite me!

[Kasen immediately drops on the bat along with the others, moving to keep the bat restrained during this whole event.]

Watch the teeth. [She goes down on her knees to press her fingers on the bats body and hold it down, hopefully giving Yosuke an opening to grab the piece.] He's a lot stronger than he looks. Grab the piece and we'll let him loose.

[ Well, you don't need three people to hold down one little bat, so Jack steps back to release the rest of their catch as far away from the others as he can. Wouldn't want them disturbing this very delicate operation, now, would they? He does keep a close eye on them, though, just in case they need him to step in. ]

We'll all get rabies shots when we get back, just in case.

[ Because that's reassuring, right? ]

You got it or what?

If we get back...

[ Don't be such a Debbie Downer, Yosuke.

With Katherine holding it still, Yosuke manages to pluck the little gem away from the bat without difficulties. You know, just a few annoyed screeches--from the bat, not Yosuke. ]

Got it!

[ Now she can set it free.

Fanny just stares at Jack. ]

We are going to get back. [She tries to stay optimistic, though there's a slight worry in her voice. She immediately turns her attention to the bat.

Finally its over. Kath immediately lets the bat go, and watches as the bat (somewhat adorably) squabbles with the floor and then promptly launches itself off the ground and back into its swarm. She watches as the swarm circles the ceiling, then turns and nods to her companions.] We have everything we came for, lets get out of here.

[OOC: Fun Fact: only two known species of bat can take off from the ground. The only jungle bats that do so are vampire bats, so we technically were dealing with a vampire.]

[ Why is it staring at him again!! ]

Hey, none of that pessimistic stuff, alright? We're gonna get home, one way or another.

[ Just. Don't ask him how.

With the piece recovered and the bats all freed, Jack sets about putting the coffin's dressings back the way they found it - because if there is a vampire in there, he doesn't want it getting mad and coming after them. ]

Great. It goes in that beetle thing out there, right? Easy.

[ You can't choose who you love, Jack. Let Fanny experience emotions that no desk fan should ever be able to. ]

I really hope you're right about that, buddy.

[ Adventures like this seem cool on paper, but reality is always stranger than fiction. ]

I think so. Let's just get outta here without catching rabies.
