TEAM FOUR EVENT LOG
|
READY: START. Roster: Noah Isaacs + Gunther Schwarz, Gintaro Suzukaze + Elda Marker, Dave Strider + Byakuya Kirigiri, Shouto Todoroki + Akira Kurusu, Eren Jaeger + Yusuke Kitagawa, Soleil Beaufort + Vera Weisz, Alessandro Vinsmoke + Yu Narukami, Cleo Ritter + Minako Arisato, Penelope Raban + Olive Freya Yun, Orihime Inoue + Matthew Murdock, Ryouta Ono + Baren Kaiyou, Prompto Argentum + Keigo Higashino, Zaveid Taleb + Ragna Edgson, Amelia Wagner + Kasen Kaneda On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a large bus with the Retrospec logo on the hood. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. I'm no Ms. Frazzle, but I think this bus will do the trick. Hope you packed a book or something. Upon boarding the bus you'll find that's it's equipped for a longer road trip. There are snacks, books, video game consoles, and even a few beds and bathrooms. Just as well, seeing how you're going to be traveling north of the city, traveling through the woods for about seven hours. As you travel, the sky begins to change colors and the temperature drops toward the end of your journey. Outside the window you'll see a mountain range and snow on the ground, and stars streak across the sky as you enter the beautiful region of Magatus. ![]() Permanently semi-dark with beautiful colors streaking across the sky, Magatus is filled with rivers, grass, coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains. The temperature is quite frigid, so travelers will need to bundle up! The region known as Magatus is fairly open and while there may not a huge population like Recollé, there are small clusters of buildings and homes that characters can find by exploring this region. There is roughly 1,500 square miles to cover in the area claiming to be Magatus and some parts of this region may experiences changes in weather including heavy snow, ice, and blackouts. Most of the towns are quaint and friendly though most people appear to mind their own business. If spoken to, they will explain that they’ve been enjoying their time alone and away from the hustle and bustle of city life, though it may be a little hard to know if this is actually true. Some of the younger ones will say they’ve lived here their whole life, but most will shy away from the topic of where they came from. Shops that can be found seem to range in the realm of basic general stores, hardware stores, mini foodmarts, and weaponry. The Magatus people truly live a simple life. The true nature of this region doesn’t seem to come out until nightfall, however. As the light fades and the sky darkens, the colors brighten above and the sound of wolves begin howling nonstop. Depending, you may even hear the sound of snarling and growling, quick footsteps crunching through fresh snow and irritated barking. The townspeople know better than to stay out at night when the wolves run and the shadows dance, and they would advise that anyone from out of town take cover. Too bad they won’t invite you in. You’re on your own out in the wilderness. This is the Team Four Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team Four is as follows: Feb 3rd: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Travel to Location | Threading for Objective OneObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

OBJECTIVE TWO;
Thanks to a deal struck by one of your own, people are more likely to offer you supplies, weaponry and more.
In the morning your bus comes back through loaded with new supplies including warmer winter clothing, fresh food and water, a water filter, firewood, lighters, flashlights, and supplies to give to the people of the town. They'll be grateful and provide you with information and gear as well. Everything seems to be fine until the howling starts and all of the electricity across the region goes out.
Shrouded in darkness, it's hard to tell which way is which, but as the howling grows louder it all appears to be directly across from the lake you discovered. Like before, across the lake sits a black wolf throwing its head back and baying at the moon. The thicket behind it responds in kind, the sound of at least one hundred wolves ripping through the otherwise silent region.
You have your compasses and you have your gear. The howling won't stop until you take care of the problem. Get yourself across the lake and right to the wolves. You may be rewarded if you do.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Split up into groups and get across the lake, heading right through the trees and take on the wolves.
Option: your group may fight these wolves, or they may try to subdue them in other ways! Please specify in your objective comment if your group will fight, subdue, or try an alternate method.
Here is a suggested list of sub-objectives you can assign sub-groups to in order to complete this objective:
-Go north
-Go south
-Go east
-Go west
With 28 group members, a party of three and a party of four may go in either cardinal direction. These subgroups may pick what method they're trying and receive a mod comment detailing their scenario.
Whatever you choose will heavily impact what happens to you, and potentially other parties.
While you are free to backtag, the bulk of your objective should be completed by the end of 2/14! Another mod comment will go up on 2/15 with more information.
Threads which progress toward this objective should be reported to this toplevel. Your primary objective cannot be completed solo, and will require you to work as a team!
Please comment here with your selections and group members so that the moderators may provide you with information and clear the thread!

We've got a question though - do these look like normal wolves? Is there anything to imply that they aren't normal? Because if they aren't then Sanji's probably gonna try talking to them. Which I'm sure is something we all want!!

North Two: Other.
Their goal is not to attack immediately, as they'd prefer to communicate, now knowing that there is a strong possibility that these are werewolves and therefore are/were people. Initially Pen plans to send the tomato monster or Shiva up to them, to see if it can communicate. Maybe placate them and see what they want?
They don't really want to fight, but they will if the wolves are hostile. If it starts amicable and goes south it'd be with the intent to subdue. Either knock unconscious, use sleep and binding spells, that sort of thing. If the wolves initiate the fight and prove immediately hostile, they will kill them.

OBJECTIVE TWO THREADING

the usual divvying up of tasks and teams goes more or less smoothly, as far as dave is concerned. this time he knows everyone in his team from further back than this too-long field trip, and he's comfortable placing himself casually in the command of any of the three other guys. all he does make sure of, pretty much, is that he's generally near enough to byakuya to be able to react defensively if he has to. yusuke and yu, he figures, will be perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.
as they go he's taking shots with his digital camera, something that soothes his sometimes-frazzled nerves, although he looks generally okay. ]
Say cheese. Or actually say somethin' more interesting than that, as you choose?
[ time for a HIGHLY IMPORTANT group selfie, obviously.
also he's still refusing to walk in the snow today and is just floating an inch above it. this is how he crossed the lake, and he would have easily enough offered to give one of the others a ride if need be. ]

[zoro's direction had been chosen by poor navigation skills. upon seeing the wolves, he immediately ran towards them... in the opposite direction. somewhere along the line, he had realized other people had followed his charge into the woods. The moose surprised him, Baren didn't, and the third guy–"Busker" was his name, right?–he didn't know enough to really care.
so through the trees they all wind, zoro somehow in the lead, taking the occasional swig of whiskey from a flask. they've been walking long enough for him to get mildly irritated at the lack of wolves, which leads to the philosophical question of:]
What if I just cut the trees down?

The way they were divided up doesn't really bother him. His partner is with him and they haven't had too much trouble being partners, even if sharing thoughts seems much more stressful for Akira than it does him.
They make their way out east and eventually, the forest starts to thin out into a clearing. One with blood and bones and-
They're surrounded by wolves now. The strange shadow wolves that he and Akira saw across the lake.
Then the voices begin. "You have regrets. You let your mother suffer for so long. You stopped trying to get her help. People didn't believe you so you stopped trying. Listen to us. Do as we say. We can rectify your past."
Shouto's frozen.

Honestly, she can't help but think that when they were on the lake, the wolves (wolf singular?) were trying to get them to split up. Everyone went off in other directions and while she's honestly a little unhappy to not be with her son when she saw Soliel and her "wife" heading out one direction without much of anyone else, the small woman has planted her legs and in one or two big leaps (damn this lack of traction from the snow) she'd gotten in step with them to head ... west? She's pretty sure this is west but she's had a time orienting direction. At least the compasses work.
But after only a ways the snow gives way to a rocky area, caves in the area? But more importantly, there's five or so wolves up there. Snarling, howling at them to try to deter them, and... blood on their jaws. They look a little threatening, honestly, and to that end Elda holds out her arms to tell them to keep at this distance? ]
Whoa there, guess we found them.

Sidequest: Investigate Town, Freya/Pen/Vera
[When the power went down, Penelope's first response had been to hunker down and not move, but that wasn't going to work. Not in the dark, with the wolves howling all around, hundreds and hundreds of animals singing in cacophonous symphony that promises sleepless nights and warns of a problem. Everyone agrees to split up to investigate, of course, but there's something nagging at the back of her group's thoughts. The journal about Fenrir was weird, but the moon calendar and talk of deceit and trickery makes her think of Werewolves. And that means people. And where are there people? The town.
This, of course, leads to the trio of them moving as quietly as possible between darkened houses. Hovering just off the snow, invisible to the eye, with Shiva and the Alraune poking around as well. Checking in window after window, Pen moves back towards a spot near the edge of the village where the group had agreed to meet up after checking the interior of town...]

south two: we partially fucked up
the farther south they go, the deeper their steps get through the thickening snow and denser mountain foilage. luckily, eren’s gear is lightweight to carry, and the warmer clothes helped in getting through the cold. other than that, the howls are followed, eren leads his group and sticks close to them, watching them— nerves are high, he can feel it as they trek closer to the wails.
until their cries cease, and before the party emerge seven wolves from the dark, dark bodies seeming to merge with the shadows and gleaming red eyes staring back at them. eren raises his pistol in alarm, both to get a better look at them with his light and to keep his aim at the ready; they don’t know what these beasts want in the first place, and immediately, they snarl in return.
they snap their jaws, raise their hackles, circle around them and spread out— but they do not attack, seeming to pause and look among them and the party. eren’s eyes squint, his chest already rattling. they’re surrounded, they could attack any minute, but . . . they’re not. at least not at this second. some make sounds, others still growl with wariness about something. if they wanted to attack already, they would have. ]
Guys— Hold on. [ he can’t believe he’s saying this, but— ] Don’t move.

Sanji had initially planned to join Baren and Zoro on what he knows is gonna be a disastrous adventure, only at the last second to change his mind and opt for a group he's not familiar with. It's strategic in his mind, a better divvying of the power sets, and his chuckleheads will ultimately be fine without him... he assumes.
Which means it's him and two other men of questionable hair styles heading east at a fast clip. Did he even introduce himself? Well fuck it, intros are done and over as far as he's concerned, especially once he notices the snow is fast clearing up on their walk. How... curious.]

Well, this feels almost eerily familiar. Ragna has kind of expected this whole thing to be "like August, only worse, probably" but he didn't expect this much of a déjà vu. If nothing else, he knows the girls can handle quite a lot, and although he wouldn't be caught dead admitting it, it's... sort of reassuring to have them around again. He doesn't know about the other guy, but hey, the more the... less shit each of them will have to endure, hopefully.
They've been walking for quite a while already and while the scenery has been changing bit by bit, their goal remains out of sight. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't take too long for Ragna to grow impatient.]
You guys sure we're heading the right way? Ain't anything here but rocks.
no subject
It should be the right way...there's still a path here.
[Like Ragna, she's not worried about how the group can handle any problems. It's a solid team, and she trusts each of them to have her back in a fight. But with nothing but a vague goal to "find the wolves", they could be out here for hours in the bad weather and not find anything. She doesn't want to risk anyone slowly freezing to death.]
The problem is how far we go before we stop. How is everyone feeling?

POST OBJECTIVE 2
The black wolf lingers by the door, woofing in greeting to each person and mostly keeping an eye out to make sure nobody gets lost and they're all herded into the area.
Strangely, at this lodge despite it being abandoned for so long there seems to be enough food for at least a few days. It's stuff like meat, potatoes, soup, basic things and also some extra blankets and flashlights.
The snow begins to fall around the time the last person enters the lodge and the door shuts. The wolf gives a growl to anyone who tries to leave the room before he woofs and takes off up the stairs, wandering through the interior of the lodge.
From your place in the lobby, there's a view of plenty of rooms lingering above you, along with areas out back that you can't get to yet. Right now the main room and the kitchen and one of the bathrooms are your only open areas. Get cozy with one another. The storm out there is getting worse and you're in it for the long haul.
On 2/14, Valentine's presents will be dropped in this spot, too, and on 2/15 another announcement from the NPC will go up!]
IC info roundup 2: traumatic boogaloo
They had a time! Everyone had a time.
Yu will leave it alone the night the last group makes it in, because they all need a chance to rest, decompress, have some time to themselves... whatever they all need, after ... everything.
But the next day, it's time to find out what they all went through. Yu will gather everyone together once they're all awake. At least the lodge is cozy, and they can all snuggle up under the like two dozen communal blankets they have. ]
We need to discuss what happened to all of us on our way here. My group faced a test, and I'm sure everyone probably ran into something. If you're all up to it, we should compare our experiences.

2/15
So I've been thinking.
You've all done really great so far on assignment and you've helped out where you needed to.
There are some things I need to look into though and instead of keeping you waiting around for a while how would you guys like an intermission?
24 hours. Back to the city for 24 hours, do whatever you want, if you want to come back and finish the assignment you meet back at your original meeting locations and I'll send you back.
I've never hidden the fact that this is all voluntary, but we needed to handle it this way to see what would come up.
Thank you all for your service so far.
If you'd like to stay behind for the 24 hour period, you can. Try not to screw things up while your group is split up.
Can't figure out how to turn off your partner link though, sorry.
Anyway! 24 hours. Enjoy your vacation.
[For the next 24 hours (ICly probably 12pm to 12pm), your characters will be teleported back to the city of Recollé to regroup, grab supplies, see their loved ones and etc. After 24 hours (icly 2/16) your characters will return! This will occur unless you have spoken to us prior about other arrangements. Objective 3 will go up around 9pm EST on 2/16 with assignments going as quickly as possible. Thank you!]
OBJECTIVE THREE;
Digging through the snow he reappears with a weather-beaten map of the lodge revealing a layout from the lodge. Splitting off into stairs and layers, there are three rooms to the left and five rooms on the right, along with a large garage/shed area behind the house.
9 rooms. 27 of you.
Magnus suddenly pauses, looking up at seemingly nothing and growling louder than a wolf his size should be allowed. With a mighty howl, every single door to the lodge opens and groups of three are pulled apart to disappear into these spaces. The wolf will be watching where he can, but you did promise to help, didn't you?
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Explore the nine areas of the lodge and unravel the mysteries and darkness to break apart the dark core of Magatus.
Here is a suggested list of sub-objectives you can assign sub-groups to in order to complete this objective:
-1
-2
-3
-4
-5
-6
-7
-8
-9
In addition, you will have a second part that's meant for all group members once the 9 explorations are completed! Please notify the mod team when your group as a whole is ready to move forward and you will receive objective 3.5.
You have until 3/3 to complete your threads! You can backtag if necessary, but ICly your characters will return to the city before or by this date. If all members of your group finish their objectives early, you will return to the city early. Please also remember that once your participation threads are approved by a mod you may claim your two free memories and 10-20 point item/20 points! You can only claim these up to 3/3.
Threads which progress toward this objective should be reported to this toplevel. Your primary objective cannot be completed solo, and will require you to work as a team!
Please comment here with your selections and group members so that the moderators may provide you with information and clear the thread!

OBJECTIVE 3 THREADING
room 7
so. fuck. dave's first thought about wind is john even though it's pointless and obviously not john being an idiot about his aspect, and then it's "what the fuck" as he feels himself falling.
but, you know. dave strider can fly.
he's pretty sure the other two guys can't, and it's a little hard to see, but he snaps out his hands and tries to grab arms or collars (presumably they can rearrange themselves after) and he's not as strong as his best friend but dave has been in heavy ninja training since birth. (had been. whatever) and is perfectly capable of slowing the fall of two other people plus himself to a crawl.
so they'll at least touch down on the snow nicely.
or like
dave will hover above it looking completely and utterly offended. ]
No???? [ CAN THEY GO BACK AND PICK ANOTHER DOOR ]

OBJECTIVE 3.5
At the end sits a door that used to be white and gold with 9 slots in it and black, rotting wood eating away at the frame. A whimper's heard from Magnus as he steps in front of it, snarling at the darkness spreading before woofing at the party to deposit their gems in the correct-colored slots.
Before the party can step through the door, they'll soon hear a voice inside their heads, frustrated and weary as the wolf paws the door again.
"You must find a way to win. He took everything from this place and he'll continue to take everything from you. Stop him."
The door opens to a large hallway, dark and echoing as Magnus disappears in a puff of smoke. The party will walk forward into a large open coliseum where the sounds of several spirits are cheering, booing, and making all sorts of commotion in the dark. It will be hard for several party members to notice, but for those with the gift of spiritual sight they'll find that ever seat is packed.
And then, without warning, a noise comes from over head.
"Round One!
Wave after wave of monsters pour out and rush for the party, strange creatures and dangerous ones, too as they attack from the air and groundpound the earth.
There will be nearly thirty monsters all set to stun and destroy the party, ready to tear them to pieces but if they look above they'll see a tower for special guests to watch the festivities and a shadow of a man keeping an eye on the proceedings.
The party will have to defeat the entire crowd of creatures and they will receive a reward that can change their view on life forever.
[ooc: hey guys, here's 3.5! You're free to do with this as you please, but I will generally assume the group is victorious somehow and write up a closer for you on 3/3! This group will be back in the city ICly early on 3/3, just in time for more Retrospec shenanigans. Fun! Thanks for your patience!]

Cleo's immediately pulling Togusa's pistol out, and smoothly firing into the hydra's neck. Her instincts from Neferti's life take over, and she's immediately following up the loud gunshots with a shout.]
Everyone with healing abilities, to the back! Those who fight in close range, to the front! Magic and guns, to the middle! Healers, prioritize the heaviest wounds to keep everyone in fighting shape! As long as we can keep a numbers advantage, we'll win!
[She's... not sure what the plan is if she gets ignored, but whatever. She's tossing out what she feels to be correct. That said, she's firing the rest of her gun's rounds into the nearest monster.]

OUTRO
Rolling to the ground, Magnus paws and wrestles with the trophy for a bit before a small hatch is unlatched and a leather-bound diary falls out along with a broken wolf-shaped amulet. Snarling at the pendant, Magnus takes it to nose at the cord and loop it around his neck.
Pushing the diary over, he waits for someone to open it and read through its contents.
First, they find two family trees for the Spinnato and Vandeweele family line. While some of them may recognize these as the same notes that match up a post from a Retrospec user, they will also find several notes on the Spinnato chart with Xs, arrows, and notes about who’s worthy of the family line and who isn’t.
In the next set of notes, there’s a map of Recollé and a flowchart attached. Written on the map of the city is a note:
On the flowchart itself, several of the boxes are labeled with instructions.
”Has the planet set up barter and trade with ours?”
“Does the planet have resources we can obtain for ourselves?”
“Will this planet benefit us?”
“How pure is the family line?”
“Purging and the perfect storm?”
“Will reviving and reconstructing these souls benefit or hinder?”
Several other questions regarding the state of planets and the applicability of saving certain souls follow and it appears to be a chart to process whether revival of planets is worth the Project’s interest or not.
Finally, the last several pages of the journal appear to be personal notes.
The notes probably to not make a lot of sense but they are followed by a roster of planets that have been destroyed and rescued (mostly in an alien language.)
Tucked into the very back behind all of these pages is a map of a large geographical area, hand-drawn lines indicating where Pesgare, Respatrum, Bosuma and Magatus will be split apart. In addition, there’s an old drafted design of a customized magical staff, embedded with gems and a silver rabbit, bear, fish and wolf.
Magnus continues holding onto the amulet, growling at anyone who tries to take it but letting them keep the trophy and the notebook. The lodge begins to shake, patches of the walls beginning to fall away almost as though they’re in an earthquake and revealing a shiny, pristine lodge underneath. As the darkness shakes off and disappears, Magnus woofs and leads them downstairs with a howl.
A bus honks outside not long after.
On the evening of 3/2 a text message from Zee will hit everyone's phones.
With that, the doors to the bus open and the group is ushered on by Magnus who sits in the snow until the bus begins to pull away. Thank you for your time with the Recollé Restoration Initiative. Goodbye.
