TEAM FOUR EVENT LOG
READY: START. Roster: Noah Isaacs + Gunther Schwarz, Gintaro Suzukaze + Elda Marker, Dave Strider + Byakuya Kirigiri, Shouto Todoroki + Akira Kurusu, Eren Jaeger + Yusuke Kitagawa, Soleil Beaufort + Vera Weisz, Alessandro Vinsmoke + Yu Narukami, Cleo Ritter + Minako Arisato, Penelope Raban + Olive Freya Yun, Orihime Inoue + Matthew Murdock, Ryouta Ono + Baren Kaiyou, Prompto Argentum + Keigo Higashino, Zaveid Taleb + Ragna Edgson, Amelia Wagner + Kasen Kaneda On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a large bus with the Retrospec logo on the hood. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. I'm no Ms. Frazzle, but I think this bus will do the trick. Hope you packed a book or something. Upon boarding the bus you'll find that's it's equipped for a longer road trip. There are snacks, books, video game consoles, and even a few beds and bathrooms. Just as well, seeing how you're going to be traveling north of the city, traveling through the woods for about seven hours. As you travel, the sky begins to change colors and the temperature drops toward the end of your journey. Outside the window you'll see a mountain range and snow on the ground, and stars streak across the sky as you enter the beautiful region of Magatus. ![]() Permanently semi-dark with beautiful colors streaking across the sky, Magatus is filled with rivers, grass, coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains. The temperature is quite frigid, so travelers will need to bundle up! The region known as Magatus is fairly open and while there may not a huge population like Recollé, there are small clusters of buildings and homes that characters can find by exploring this region. There is roughly 1,500 square miles to cover in the area claiming to be Magatus and some parts of this region may experiences changes in weather including heavy snow, ice, and blackouts. Most of the towns are quaint and friendly though most people appear to mind their own business. If spoken to, they will explain that they’ve been enjoying their time alone and away from the hustle and bustle of city life, though it may be a little hard to know if this is actually true. Some of the younger ones will say they’ve lived here their whole life, but most will shy away from the topic of where they came from. Shops that can be found seem to range in the realm of basic general stores, hardware stores, mini foodmarts, and weaponry. The Magatus people truly live a simple life. The true nature of this region doesn’t seem to come out until nightfall, however. As the light fades and the sky darkens, the colors brighten above and the sound of wolves begin howling nonstop. Depending, you may even hear the sound of snarling and growling, quick footsteps crunching through fresh snow and irritated barking. The townspeople know better than to stay out at night when the wolves run and the shadows dance, and they would advise that anyone from out of town take cover. Too bad they won’t invite you in. You’re on your own out in the wilderness. This is the Team Four Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team Four is as follows: Feb 3rd: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Travel to Location | Threading for Objective OneObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

[Everything is too...perfect. It kind of reminds her of the small ocean islands back at Recollé, with its wildlife neat and groomed like it were a suburban lawn.
She considers her companions for a moment, her brow furrowed.]
If it does exist, I wonder if it's a descendant of Jur...Jorg...the original sea snake, like Magnus is the descendant of Fenrir.
no subject
Jörmungandr. [Amelia corrects, unnecessarily.
But Minako did have a point. There were no damaged buildings, no shipwrecks, not even any tide marks from water churned up at sea.]
Perhaps it was descended from him. Perhaps these are just the drawings of an imaginative child. [She taps the corner of the ouroboros sketch in her hand.] But I wouldn't discount all of these houses.
[They'd only explored the one, after all.]
no subject
[Minako trots off, muttering the name under her breath to practice a couple of times as she goes. Koromaru gives the other two a cheerful yip before following after his human.
Two houses later, Minako emerges with a particularly vicious looking fishing spear to match the prettier one she's already carrying. Dual wielding! She's gotta learn sometime.]
Nothing really new in this house, either. Just a ton of fifty year old newspapers.
no subject
opening the door to the house closes to the water, eren steps in as he’s done with all of them, strict on protocols and safety precautions to make sure nothing’s going to pop out at them. he regards minako with a nod, dismissing, before he suddenly speaks up: ]
—Maybe they were trying to hunt it, not the other way around.
[ like the loch ness monster, or. to his distaste, bigfoot. yeah, he’s been thinking about the snake this entire time, so much that everything else probably went ignored.
this house seems to be the same as the rest; cookie cutter interior, neat exterior, food, papers, drawings . . . except for the scribbles on the counter, papers different from the rest and sticking out like green leaves in snow. he seems to be staring and begins approaching, pointing it out to the closest person. ]
no subject
She followed Eren into the last house with a frown, though that expression faded somewhat when she noticed the new pages. Even from here, she could tell they didn't depict any infinity symbols. The older woman picked up the first few in the set, thumbing through them.]
These are different.
no subject
Of course.
[She makes a face as she sets hers back down, pointing to a passage.]
Because why else would you hunt down a legendary creature if not for some spoils. Look, it mentions a gem "inside of the beast". That's...hmm, apparently a key for something? Do you guys have the pages on that?
no subject
The “Door of Nine”? [ he purses his lips together; supposedly, a key that can open some door, and this serpent had the key. it made sense to hunt it if that’s what the people here were doing, but . . . ] Heard about that anywhere?
no subject
...Aegir and Ran were giants who lived below the sea. They had nine daughters between them. Maybe that's what it refers to?
[Privately speaking, that...Door of Nine business sounded like something from one of her son's video games.]
no subject
[Not like Magnus left them any information to go on before leaving.
(Also, privately speaking, Minako thinks "Door of Nine" is a dumb name even for a video game. The townspeople should've named it something epic like "the Ninth Door" or "the Entrance of the Nine" if they were going to bother naming it in the first place.)
One of the pages slips to the floor as they ponder the rest. Koromaru trots after it. One peek and he's taking it into his mouth and pawing insistently at Eren, the closest to him. Look! It's a drawing of a serpant! Minako notices as well.]
All signs point to a giant snake, so...I guess we start looking for a giant snake. Or a door big enough for giants.
no subject
At least I’ll fit through it, [ he mutters offhandedly, if they ever really did need to open a giant sized door for some reason. gathering the important entries for later, eren folds their evidence and slips it into his belongings, going for the door left ajar.
. . . and not minding when he takes a harpoon into his weapon roster. ]
There was a bridge out there, I’ll look for boats.
[ because you can’t search the water on land can you! ]
no subject
...well, she probably wouldn't need one, would she?
Amelia was the last one that proceeded to the door, looking off in an unrelated direction with her brows furrowed, one hand tensing into a claw shape. Disgust and fury swept through her without cause, startling her. Amelia shook her head, and the exasperated sigh she breathed out had more than a bit of a growl in it. What on earth had Kasen got up to now?
By the time she returned to some semblance of calm, the older woman was well behind. She shook her head again and hurried her steps, folding that hand into her sleeves.]
Be careful. [She called out, covering up her discomfort with concern. Like this was a normal trip to a normal shorefront and there were young people to mind.]
no subject
What's that back there? [She rubs at her eyes, wondering if she's seeing things, or if she's just getting tired.] I'm not the only one seeing that open door in the middle of the street, am I?
no subject
there stood a door indeed, resembling the inside of the cabin they had been in with magnus. the most he does is give it a glance, and without sparing it more of his time, he continues trekking toward the soft pull of water ripples. ]
We don’t need it.
[ not right now, they didn’t. as good of a distraction that was, eren doesn’t fall in, and does what he has set out to do: pull the harpoon up near the water’s shoreline and look for a boat. the water gleams, brightly like they’re full of precious stones. ]
no subject
...no. Eren is right.
[A third shake of her head.]
A distraction like this appears just before we look into the water? Something must be trying to divert our attention.
[For a trap, this was an...obvious one. If it was a trap. But they had other things to do first, and if the door was still there when they had exhausted all the other options it might be worth revisiting. Now, though, Amelia backed away, keeping an eye on the door as she turned for the coastline.]
no subject
Right, time to focus. She whistles to Koromaru, and the two of them jog to catch up.]
Any luck? If we can't find a boat, I can fly us over.
no subject
Doesn’t look like it. [ eren shakes his head out of thought, still planning and working internally and taking his steps over to the bridge and closer to the slushing waves. it actually . . . looks really shiny, as if there were pebbles, or scales underneath the sheet of crystalline waters, reflecting off the bridge’s surface. they almost look like jewel, and out of curiosity, especially after the information they gathered, eren crouches down. after a moment, he reaches in— ] Think you can fly us low enough to— look?
[ the bridge moves. it jerks and slips, coils into a spiral and throwing eren back as he does. in front of them spins a massive beast, rising from the blue, scales flaring and jaws snapped wide in a hiss that sounded like a gale. the water is no longer still, but thrashing as it holds its tail. ]
no subject
And the only bridge to the water was suddenly no longer a bridge. Amelia jerked in surprise--reflexively catching Eren as he flew backwards.
Amelia didn't call out to announce the danger. That threshold had gone sailing past them. She set Eren down, hands curled clawlike. Looking up at the serpent, fear was not one of the things she felt. It was anger--the same indignant ire the wolves first stoked into flame. The monster was a challenge, not an existential terror.]
Do you think- [it was a question hissed between nearly-clenched teeth, as Amelia tried to get ahold of herself] -it can be reasoned with?
no subject
[Minako hangs back a bit, though, waiting for her chance...and then the serpent releases its strangely glittering tail and roars at them, masking the crack of her Evoker as she fires it off behind the others' backs. A serpent-like dragon rockets off into the sky, carrying Minako on its back with it.]
Heeeey! Hey, Jormungandr or whoever you are! Can we talk?
[The serpent answers by snapping its massive head in their direction. With a shout, Minako and Samael manage to whip away just in time, starting to circle around the giant beast to keep its attention while Eren and Amelia get ready for a fight.
Because please take note, friends: it doesn't want to talk.]
no subject
this wasn’t like magnus. magnus waited. the beast waits much less as it pins its head back and strikes the air the dragon glides on. there’s no discussion, and the terms are made clear; it hides its tail from them, in the light flickering a bright gem with the mark of an animal’s paw.
eren draws his blades, more natural than the harpoon and less devistating than a shift— he feels the stakes rise and his resolve harden into a monster itself, one that’s prepared to fight by all means necessary. if they needed a titan, he’d renounce this stance, but for now . . .
he prepares to take to the air, ready to join minako and calling back to amelia. ]
We got our answer! [ there was no hesitation here. the serpent’s intentions were primal and clear, and with a snap from his wire’s to the snake’s hide, compressed air shoots him forward in an airborn dance. ] The key’s right there!
[ whether it’s eren’s sheer force or the aftershock of emotional burst from his heartstone, it’s fiery, fierce and available to all that need the intense boost: fight! ]
no subject
And Amelia did not choose irrelevance.
She didn't need to reach very far to find that chaotic beast in her mind. Like it was a second skin, an old friend--a shadow at her feet. Just a touch, one thought connecting another--and Amelia's human form smoldered away into white light, one bipedal form burning away into another. One that expanded and rose, until her many-horned head crested the roofs of the houses. Barely so--and it was nothing compared to the serpent.
It didn't stop her from roaring at the monster, wings flared high to make herself larger, more noticeable. Pay no mind to the hooks in your hide or the beast in the air, your opponent was here.]
no subject
Up in the air, Minako curses under her breath as she watches the key go down into the water. Kartikeya is obviously the best choice for striking at this sea snake, but she doesn't want to risk electrocuting Eren, either. She needs to focus her attacks on it away from the water. With a word from his summoner, Samael zips back to where her airborne companion is.]
I'll help Amelia keep it busy and try to draw out its tail! You go for the key!
[A gunshot to the head, and then her dragon disappears into blue shards of light beneath her, leaving her free-falling in the air for half a second until a giant peacock and its rider burst into existence and catch her on its back. They dive bomb down, sending a ream of lightning strikes down right on the crown of its head enough to make it spasm.]
no subject
Got it!!
[ eren yells to affirm that he heard that and agrees, gaining heights and momentum as he spins into the air and snaps his hooks free off the beast. he hovers in brief free fall, just in time for it to receive the blow and quiver beneath its own coils from snaps of electricity. it snarls, angered as it rises once more to face its more immediate challenger— a dragon, a thing of scales and claws, of horns that dare to rival its own, but a size that could make it sneer. wrong it is, as it strikes rapidly with teeth as a cobra would, a hiss in every lunge, destroying the ground the waves crash against.
had the beast been able to admit things, the wing span is rather startling. eren watches, always in movement, and when his eyes hatch the twinkle of the gem in the day’s light, he shoots for it, making any twist and turn he had to, to mold into the parallel combat and give them more than enough room. it didn’t matter how many times he had to try, but every opening had to be taken. ]

The snake had really sharp teeth, that was not so good.
The first strike Amelia was able to fend off with her claws, raking them across the serpent's nose. It withdrew, only for its head to snap back lightning-quick, engulfing the dragon's arm and side with teeth. The scales on her back were too heavy for the creature to make much headway there, but the lower teeth punched through to the dragon's side. Amelia roared, raking her other arm forward against the serpent's eye and tearing her shoulder back out of its jaws. The spikes there gouged into the roof of the serpent's mouth, and it let go with a furious hiss--only for electricity to spike into its head, crackling across its skull and leaving an acrid burn in the air.
Despite the pain in her side, she couldn't stay here on the ground. Too slow. The black dragon kicked off the ground, fanning her wings forwards and back with enough force to clip a chimney off the nearest house. But by the time the serpent recovered, she was airborne.
Amelia was much clumsier in the air than the other dragon had been--her only experience with flight was that brief time she'd spent as a bird, and that was different. She circled in front of the snake's head, blood from her wound was still streaming down her flank, but in her adrenaline haze she barely noticed.]

The snake finds Amelia much easier prey now that it doesn't have to crane its neck down to her, and it's prepared to devour her right out of the sky, its glittering tail bobbing in and out of the water just out of Eren's reach as it shifts towards her. But the arrow storm changes its focus, and it whips its head around to try and unseat Minako and her summon. The two of them continue to fly backwards out of reach, goading the serpent further inland.
Enraged, it continues on this rampage, swinging its giant head around back and forth not unlike an infinity symbol, rapidly and without stop, in an attempt to smack either of its opponents out of the air. As it does, more and more of the beast's body slides up out of the sea, seemingly without end. But within a few moments the body tapers off, and the tail emerges.
And continues to rise.]
no subject
minako continues to fight; amelia, injured, continues to direct her aim. eren wasn’t about to stop his own objective when they’re giving him and trusting him with this chance. he wouldn’t let their work go to waste. the two larger enemies are enough to decoy its attention away from the zipping airman at the same level as its belly, and once again, he positions himself through acrobatics and raises his blades the same way he would attack the nape of a titan.
and he would’ve gotten a good swipe, had the rising serpent kept rising. it snaps its head downwards, in the direction the man with blades come, and with a defying hiss it snaps its tail away into its jaws and whirls, with eren still connected to its scales by wire. it’s too late to snap free from them, too dangerous even. he’ll be sent flying and hit the water like he would be speeding into concrete— so he braces himself and puts his faith in his teammates. he was never really a fan of giant frisbee rides, and now he never will be. ]
