MAGATUS

READY: START. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a large bus with the Retrospec logo on the hood. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. I'm no Ms. Frazzle, but I think this bus will do the trick. Hope you packed a book or something. Upon boarding the bus you'll find that's it's equipped for a longer road trip. There are snacks, books, video game consoles, and even a few beds and bathrooms. Just as well, seeing how you're going to be traveling north of the city, traveling through the woods for about seven hours. As you travel, the sky begins to change colors and the temperature drops toward the end of your journey. Outside the window you'll see a mountain range and snow on the ground, and stars streak across the sky as you enter the beautiful region of Magatus. Permanently semi-dark with beautiful colors streaking across the sky, Magatus is filled with rivers, grass, coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains. The temperature is quite frigid, so travelers will need to bundle up! The region known as Magatus is fairly open and while there may not a huge population like Recollé, there are small clusters of buildings and homes that characters can find by exploring this region. There is roughly 1,500 square miles to cover in the area claiming to be Magatus and some parts of this region may experiences changes in weather including heavy snow, ice, and blackouts. Most of the towns are quaint and friendly though most people appear to mind their own business. If spoken to, they will explain that they’ve been enjoying their time alone and away from the hustle and bustle of city life, though it may be a little hard to know if this is actually true. Some of the younger ones will say they’ve lived here their whole life, but most will shy away from the topic of where they came from. Shops that can be found seem to range in the realm of basic general stores, hardware stores, mini foodmarts, and weaponry. The Magatus people truly live a simple life. The true nature of this region doesn’t seem to come out until nightfall, however. As the light fades and the sky darkens, the colors brighten above and the sound of wolves begin howling nonstop. Depending, you may even hear the sound of snarling and growling, quick footsteps crunching through fresh snow and irritated barking. The townspeople know better than to stay out at night when the wolves run and the shadows dance, and they would advise that anyone from out of town take cover. Too bad they won’t invite you in. You’re on your own out in the wilderness. This is the Team Four Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. [She shouts over the roaring in acknowledgment of Eren's command, and it quickly becomes a yell of Amelia's name as she sees the dragon woman fly into the nearby houses. Her Evoker goes off, and again Minako is flying across the skies, chaining lightning strikes across its head once more.

The vicious wound Amelia inflicted on the snake's eye makes it all the more easier to hurt it, and the giant serpent writhes wildly, screeching now in equal parts pain and rage as arcs of electricity jump off its scales. One particularly strong bolt of lightning stuns it, and it sways in place, eyes glazed over.

Minako could kill it right here and now with several more Maziodynes. But she doesn't want to. Even if it has been hostile, if it's a legendary beast as many signs seem to point to, then it would be wrong to end its life like this. So after one last round of lightning, she has Kartikeya back up, hovering nearby only to ensure that it doesn't act up again.]

Eren! Now's your chance!

[ eren hears the call, encouragement to his advance and already halfway there as the beast’s energy dwindles. it’s midway through shore, belly to the dirt and the tip of its tail twitching, slicking into itself in a coil to hide. no you don’t eren thinks, positioning himself with swords raised like bats and approaching the tail at breakneck speeds. it needs to be fast, they’ve held this up longer than needed to with an injured teammate still fallen in a choatic lump of rubble.

eren swears he sees the neck of a titan when he does this, and it feels almost right. in a split second slash, the tip of the beast’s tail is pierced enough to detach its flesh. it releases a painful outcry, perhaps not out of the actual injury inflicted, but because of the precious treasure being taken from it. it’s cries turn to shrills, and in beaten breaths of distress it rolls in its anguish on land.

and flying back to them (fast, he’s worried about amelia) is eren, the sound of his working wires whirring and humming through the air, a ribbon of blood and flesh following until he breaks it free and throws it; the only thing in his hands now a bright blue gem. ]

[The sounds of battle seemed distant, like they were filtering to her from the inside of a massive bell. When Amelia's vision cleared properly, she became aware of staring at the sky through a ragged roof that was more hole than shelter. Her head being in a dining room, her torso in the foyer, her legs on the second floor, and her tail was somewhere the chimney used to be. It was very disorienting.

Her wings were splayed against the walls of the foyer instead of crushed beneath herself, a small blessing; nothing seemed broken, but there was doubtless a sprain somewhere. The dragon's scales might have protected her from the worst of the sharp edges and splinters, but they didn't help with the blunt force trauma.

Amelia lifted her head slowly from the splintered ruin of the dining table and chairs, teeth bared in a grimace. She set her claws into the remains of the stairs and second floor to pull herself upwards. Wood creaked and groaned in complaint, but Amelia was past caring about property damage. From what she could hear, the battle was still going on, she was still needed.

With great effort, the dragon got her feet back under herself and stood, horned head cresting the broken roof. Finally able to see, she...didn't see the serpent. At least not in the air.]

[Minako stays hovering nearby in case Eren needs help escaping the wrath of the giant snake. But now, instead of a mighty beast, it seems more like an appendage cut off from one of those lizards that can regenerate a new one-- surreal in its existence, twitching without end and pitiful to look at.

Once she affirms that Eren's zipping back to shore with the key in hand, she has Kartikeya wheel around towards Amelia as well. Another crack of a gun, another free fall, and another serpent-like dragon, instead this time it glimmers white instead of black. He pauses on the ruined threshold of the house the dragon woman crashed into, Minako peering over his head down at her.]

Hold still, Amelia, I'm going to heal you now.

[A soft golden light encircles the area, affecting Eren as well once he reaches them, gently but swiftly easing pain and sealing wounds.

Minako promptly slumps over the front of her dragon. He floats to the ground before disappearing beneath her, her body creating a small crater in the sand where she lands in a heap.]

[ while the snake churns back into the water, leaving streams of blood in its wake, eren returns to them and lands roughly over a stretch of debris. the warming feeling that expands to the tips of his toes and fingers catches him by surprise, but complete relief when he breathes out a breath he had held. amelia was getting healed.

he inhales and exhales as he clips his handles away in their holsters, a little heavy and rapid, nostrils flared and hands shaking. he’s still running on the crash of adrenaline brought by the mix of battle and a memory, tearing through tail with as much fury as when he had ripped another young man from the neck of a titan, angrily slicing through his limbs until he was nothing but a torso to pull out.

it’s hard to ignore the contagious fury of the past, and he knows he needs to calm himself. near him team, he holds out the treasure. ]

We did it.

[Seeing the strange birdlike creature wheeling towards her made the dragon growl, though the redheaded figure with it gave her pause. A flash of silver, a larger flash of blue--and the peacock vanished, replaced with another dragon. Amelia snarled in an unspoken challenge, bristling her wings despite the sprain, but before she could take much more action a warm light suffused the area.

The aches and sprains vanished, as if eased away in a warm bath. And that throbbing wound punched through her side stopped troubling her just as quickly, enough that Amelia looked down at it in alarm. The blood she'd already lost was still spilling down her scales, but the angry puncture was nowhere in sight. By the time Amelia looked up again, the white dragon had disappeared. She clambered out and over the ruins of the house, but found nothing on the other side except Eren and Minako.

She was reluctant to leave this form just yet, in case the snake came back. As her great feet thumped to the ground and she stared down at Minako crumpled down there, though, this form seemed a bit...problematic. Amelia spent a relatively long time trying to figure out if she could safely pick Minako up or not. Even her claws had claws, there were a lot of pointy things on her.

Glancing at the stone in Eren's hands was the last tipping point, though. The dragon's red eyes closed, and the fatigue hit her all at once. This form slipped out of her hands, the dragon dissolving into a shrinking light until she no longer towered, but resembled an ordinary person stepping out of the glow.

The older woman knelt a bit unsteadily, reaching for Minako's shoulder. She glanced at the gem in Eren's hands while she was at it.]

We should leave. Before the serpent returns.

[If it did. Amelia didn't have much sympathy for it.]

[Through the haze of dizziness, she can see Eren holding up something glittering in the sunlight. Minako raises her arm limply to give him a victory sign.]

Great job, Eren...go team...and I agree, let's go.

[She doesn't really inspire much urgency, though, struggling to at least prop herself up on her elbows at Amelia's touch to her shoulder. There are at least half a dozen healing items in her backpack, but she opts to leave them for now, just in case there might be more trials ahead, and pushes herself into a sitting position through sheer willpower.

It only makes her dizzier, and she goes stock still in a concerted effort to not throw up.]

Might. Need some help standing.

[usurpers]

[ after giving it a good roll around his palm and look at it, eren pockets the stone in a safe place, going over to both women. he slips his arm under minako’s and to her other arm, lifting near effortlessly and allowing her weight onto him. ]

I got magic food in my other pocket. [ if she needs it for a quick up in energy, it’s all hers. a door swings open yet again, to the cabin, and this time they could take it. before he starts moving, he’ll ask amelia, holding out his free hand. ] You need help, too?

[Amelia doesn't take his hand this time, shaking her head. She steadies Minako as both of them stand, and took her hand away. Her steps were slow, measured things, to hide her tiredness. Eren was already helping Minako, Amelia would be fine, probably.]

I can make it to the door.

[No promises that she won't fall over after crossing through, but.]

[She shakes her head to refuse Eren's food, mumbling for him to save it, only to instantly regret the motion. But she's fine, she'll be fine, the dizziness will stop soon, and she at least isn't too affected to forget to whistle for Koromaru. The puppy pops up out of his hiding spot and bounds after them as they trundle back to the door.

In the distance, a mighty splash can be heard as the giant snake returns to the sea in defeat.]
