MAGATUS

READY: START.

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a large bus with the Retrospec logo on the hood. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

I'm no Ms. Frazzle, but I think this bus will do the trick. Hope you packed a book or something.

Upon boarding the bus you'll find that's it's equipped for a longer road trip. There are snacks, books, video game consoles, and even a few beds and bathrooms. Just as well, seeing how you're going to be traveling north of the city, traveling through the woods for about seven hours. As you travel, the sky begins to change colors and the temperature drops toward the end of your journey. Outside the window you'll see a mountain range and snow on the ground, and stars streak across the sky as you enter the beautiful region of Magatus.

Permanently semi-dark with beautiful colors streaking across the sky, Magatus is filled with rivers, grass, coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains. The temperature is quite frigid, so travelers will need to bundle up!

The region known as Magatus is fairly open and while there may not a huge population like Recollé, there are small clusters of buildings and homes that characters can find by exploring this region. There is roughly 1,500 square miles to cover in the area claiming to be Magatus and some parts of this region may experiences changes in weather including heavy snow, ice, and blackouts.

Most of the towns are quaint and friendly though most people appear to mind their own business. If spoken to, they will explain that they’ve been enjoying their time alone and away from the hustle and bustle of city life, though it may be a little hard to know if this is actually true. Some of the younger ones will say they’ve lived here their whole life, but most will shy away from the topic of where they came from. Shops that can be found seem to range in the realm of basic general stores, hardware stores, mini foodmarts, and weaponry. The Magatus people truly live a simple life.

The true nature of this region doesn’t seem to come out until nightfall, however. As the light fades and the sky darkens, the colors brighten above and the sound of wolves begin howling nonstop. Depending, you may even hear the sound of snarling and growling, quick footsteps crunching through fresh snow and irritated barking. The townspeople know better than to stay out at night when the wolves run and the shadows dance, and they would advise that anyone from out of town take cover.

Too bad they won’t invite you in. You’re on your own out in the wilderness.

This is the Team Four Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

So getting sucked up on the winds is not what she signed up for? I mean, it's what is happening and she did resolve to help out here, so apparently this is something that needs doing, but this is not what she initially signed up for.

But then, whatever, they're urged to a room and the then deposited into a fall down a rocky incline. I mean the room was on the second floor but she's not appreciating (and Silver probably isn't going to appreciate) the fact that she sort of smacks her face into a stone immediately before the reflexes kick in to fix her landing.

Ow. ]

[...Oh, that's a drop. That's a very sudden drop down a very rocky incline and he is pretty sure he didn't sign up for this, he was having a perfectly acceptable time before all of this and now here we are.

Thankfully, he's not going to catch his balance by way of his face - not like it would particularly matter all that much, because his face is approximately as durable as the rest of him, but the fact remains that he quite likes his face. Rather, he catches most of the impact with his shoulder before rather gracelessly ending up halfway down the incline before he manages to stop sucking at everything ever.

But you know what, as long as you catlike grace the landing at the bottom and make it look like you totally meant to do that, it's probably fine? Probably.

Point being, he totally meant to do that.]

[Yeah, that's a drop alright. Jaeger lets out a rather undignified yell at the initial drop, and the tumble down the cliffside isn't exactly doing him any favors either. Thankfully he manages to catch himself toward the end there so he doesn't land on his face like poor Elda, but goddamn this is not a pleasant way to do anything.

Once they've all finally stopped he moves to stand, checks if anything is broken and once he's satisfied that nothing is, he starts dusting himself off. Ugh, maybe he should have worn that stupid outfit he received, at least he wouldn't care what happened to it...]

Well, this is highly unpleasant.

[ . . . That was out loud oops? But in her case, she's ended up on her feet, landing actually quite gracefully other than that initial stone to the face and is now checking her nose to make sure it's not broken. It's not, which is fortunate, but she's totally going to end up with a bruise on her cheek, she can tell already. ugh. She gingerly touches her face and gro--

..ans. Wait that also broke her sunglasses. Shit. Crap. Fuck the eyes - she puts a hand up over her eyes and then reaches down into her bag at her side, hurriedly making to try to go for the goggles she had in there. They don't look near as nice but that'll at least prevent her from migraining. At least they're in the shadows, now?

... Shadows of. Giant rocks. ]

[We're off to a great start.

But you know what, at least we're all in the same area, sans Silver which is a little unfortunate; furthermore, Wesker's damn sunglasses stayed on and unbroken somehow, which is nice - he doesn't have the same problems Elda does, but at the same time he'd prefer to not have his eyes on full display in front of God and everyone.

...These sure are rocks, huh.]

Well, this is either going to be infinitely better than the woods or infinitely worse; it's difficult to say which just now.

[Jaeger rolls his eyes a bit at Elda's words and finishes dusting himself off. Shame about her sunglasses, but she's got something as backup, which is good. Thankfully those didn't break in the fall!

Wesker's words get him to glance around them and Jaeger sighs.]

Only one way to find out, ja? There's no going back the way we came, so all we can really do is press forward.

[He doesn't really like the sound of that. Are you guys ready to go?]

[ these look so lame on her face as compared to her designer sunglasses. BAH.

... But she does get them on, sighing. ]

[ Is that a rumbling feeling in the ground. Like it's shaking? ]

[As if on cue, there's their wolf friend's howl from far away...]

Thankfully he's not dressed like the damn riot police today, he's wearing the stupid leather thing that's running less of a chance of getting snagged on anything and everything, because he hasn't trusted anything about this last stretch of mission; either way, it's lighter and far more conducive to...wherever this place is.]

Seeing as we're obviously not in Kansas anymore, where would you say this is? More Unreality, or...?

That seems most likely, ja? It doesn't seem possible for the lodge to be connected to a place like this.

[Man, hopefully these rocks don't come tumbling down on us with all the shaking going on here. Jaeger's eyeing the rocks warily, but everything seems sturdy enough for now.]

[ Honestly, the rocks really are worrying and honestly she's frustrated that her coat is a mess after all that. Still, she did have on sturdy pants and shoes. Ah well, at least it's... a little less cold here? Actually, a fair bit less? Oh wait, ]

It's still not clear on if Unreality is a thing or a place but... [ Yeah, that does seem to be the case, right. There's no way that a lodge room could be this expansive. She trails off and then glances at them both ] Was were you two ended up in August this random?

It was decidedly more random than this, actually.

[I mean, this is pretty damn random, but - ]

We were underwater at one point. Our bodies had...modifications done to them to accommodate for it, so we could breathe and communicate, and I suppose so we wouldn't simply be crushed by the pressure.

...Just so you're both aware, the ocean in Unreality is ruled by an octopus king, who also seems to be head of the undersea mafia. Because naturally, there's an undersea mafia, along with a sea-witch coven who hates them.

[...Things he didn't tell either of you until now: any of that.]

[That gets Jaeger to laugh; the sound is sort of startled, like he wasn't expecting it. Probably because he wasn't expecting a literal undersea mafia.]

My, you really did have all the fun, didn't you? I'm a bit jealous~!

[He'll settle a bit after that's out there, though.]

The place I was whisked away too was a jungle, and from there we went to some sort of ruined temple, and then a fantasy castle. Because that's a logical progression, I suppose.

[ What the fuck is all that ]

And a dragon in there somewhere, I saw that dragon.

[ She laughed too, to hear Albert of all people say something so patently ridiculous. Because if he's saying it, then that is actually true which somehow just makes it even funnier. It makes her own adventures in that library feel more conventional by comparison.

Oh well. ]

I can tell you Retrospec has what I can only call a magic library under the University.

[It's good to know that he is patently believable just because he wouldn't make up something that fucking ridiculous...]

You can literally leap into the world of the books. What's more, they can also take items from the "real world" into them? I went into a fantasy story and needed to help equip some would-be-hero in exchange for a key we needed.

[ She might have referenced some of this before, but maybe not spelled out quite... like this. ]

I mean, it's just as easily scientific, but after those Ragnarok myths and that other myth that one boy forwarded us [ Namely the myth Rin sent to Prompto ] all of this feels a lot more magical to me.

[ . . . She tries to shrug but. Then she trips a little from the shaking ground. Bah! Catches herself, but. ]

...If you had told me a year ago that magic existed and I would be this thoroughly entrenched in it - [ah shit are you okay there elda] - there's absolutely no chance I would have believed any of that. And yet here we are.

[Speaking of here we are, we seem to actually be getting somewhere. Namely, it seems like we've got actual paths up ahead, excellent.]

It really is a lot to take in...

[But he doesn't think Elda's lying about her experiences. So we've got a literal magic library. Wonderful.

But we've reached a fork in the road, with one path leading down a flat, rocky path and the other leading to a grassy hill. Jaeger glances up at the rocks again, then back to the other two.]

So, any preferences on which path we take?

[He's certainly got a preference in mind, but he'll wait to hear what they have to say.]

Good! I'd shudder to think who'd want to be around loose rocks when it feels like we're in some quaking country.

[ Well then, let's get on walking into these grassy hills! She'll even take up the lead here, because she's pretty sure she has the best vision? Well, it'd be better at night, but. ]
