MAGATUS

READY: START.

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a large bus with the Retrospec logo on the hood. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

I'm no Ms. Frazzle, but I think this bus will do the trick. Hope you packed a book or something.

Upon boarding the bus you'll find that's it's equipped for a longer road trip. There are snacks, books, video game consoles, and even a few beds and bathrooms. Just as well, seeing how you're going to be traveling north of the city, traveling through the woods for about seven hours. As you travel, the sky begins to change colors and the temperature drops toward the end of your journey. Outside the window you'll see a mountain range and snow on the ground, and stars streak across the sky as you enter the beautiful region of Magatus.

Permanently semi-dark with beautiful colors streaking across the sky, Magatus is filled with rivers, grass, coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains. The temperature is quite frigid, so travelers will need to bundle up!

The region known as Magatus is fairly open and while there may not a huge population like Recollé, there are small clusters of buildings and homes that characters can find by exploring this region. There is roughly 1,500 square miles to cover in the area claiming to be Magatus and some parts of this region may experiences changes in weather including heavy snow, ice, and blackouts.

Most of the towns are quaint and friendly though most people appear to mind their own business. If spoken to, they will explain that they’ve been enjoying their time alone and away from the hustle and bustle of city life, though it may be a little hard to know if this is actually true. Some of the younger ones will say they’ve lived here their whole life, but most will shy away from the topic of where they came from. Shops that can be found seem to range in the realm of basic general stores, hardware stores, mini foodmarts, and weaponry. The Magatus people truly live a simple life.

The true nature of this region doesn’t seem to come out until nightfall, however. As the light fades and the sky darkens, the colors brighten above and the sound of wolves begin howling nonstop. Depending, you may even hear the sound of snarling and growling, quick footsteps crunching through fresh snow and irritated barking. The townspeople know better than to stay out at night when the wolves run and the shadows dance, and they would advise that anyone from out of town take cover.

Too bad they won’t invite you in. You’re on your own out in the wilderness.

This is the Team Four Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

which means his arrival is announced with typical shouting. and a snowball he throws at boose.]

[he gets ready to throw another snowball but his knuckles scrape the castle wall. attention: grabbed.]

... This the place? [rhetorical for how obvious it was.] Any special plan for getting in?

[ dave has by now let baren down and is eyeing the castle. ]

Try the front door? Or scale to a window.

[Baren is just going to reach up and pet Boose?? because his moose did a good job.]

A window sounds like fun. What are the odds of someone actually living here?

Isn't it all made of ice? Hard for a human to live in a place like that, right?

[zoro is now getting up and dusting the snow off. he has no preference, provided he get a chance to fight.]

I can fly you up?

[ to a window... ]

Do that! Boose and I will find another way in.

[because that sounds totally feasible to engage in a stealth mission with a moose]

I'm flying?

[he glances at baren as if he really needs his permission to do anything. wow.

then back to dave, shrugging.]

... Alright. Let's go flying, kid.

Sure. Hold on, will you? [ I'M NOT SURE HOW THEY COMPARE HEIGHTWISE but zoro is definitely heavier. but he remembers flying with zoro before and dropping him on a dragon so don't mind him getting a hold of zoro's waist solely to be able to like

[zoro live your own goddamn life. baren is definitely just going to head inside with boose?? and inside they'll find that the castle is still super made of ice. and ice skating around is totally a thing?

they'll probably meet up somewhere in the middle

[yeah, once they get down from the window, zoro's definitely gonna try and skate on the bannisters and only the bannisters.

but looks like it's icebug time.

dave is like, floating above the floor still (fuck ice) and mostly seems to be looking around curiously, and he might not immediately flag them as dangerous.

or at least he'll watch moreso at first ]

[guess they're gonna meet at the bottom flower of a room with a banister, baren definitely just gliding around like an asshole even as he looks for clues.

icebug may or may not be a clue. he tilts his head in confusion for a second before reaching up into his hair, plucking out a random chocobo feather that he uses for decoration and tossing it in the direction of an icebug.]

Are they gonna kill us—

[the icebug touches a feather. it slowly begins to form into a block of ice.]

I'll take that as a maybe.

[zoro's somewhere near wherever boose is, arms crossed and watching the bug freeze over the feather.]

Doesn't look like it's hostile or anything. Could we just avoid them?

I dunno why not. Maybe we should like, book it further in before they catch us, I guess? Or well, try to go wherever they want us to go least.

Hm? Yeah, sure. [ he swoops over to baren and snags him around the waist to lift off. ] This is like, horror movie levels. Chances are there's a huge ice spider waitin' around for us.

[zoro you ass. Baren startles - and suppresses the urge to bristle and struggle when Dave comes over to him.]

Boose, don't touch the spiders!

[and since they're enemy spiders trying to fuck up what's important to Baren - ]

[both swords are out and he's doing the best he can while shoving boose towards the door. problem is the bugs are tiny and endless which is probably the worst combination for swords. the castle shakes a bit as he lets out a few stupid shonen flying slashes and probably takes out a few columns or two before boose just.

baren and dave can hear cursing behind them as zoro's forced to glance away from the bugs to see boose's legs starting to freeze to the ground.]

Didn't he tell you not to touch them?! [luckily, ice is easy enough to chop free. or it should be. but when zoro twists to break the ice, three of the bugs make their way onto him and the frost starts coming.

[one final shout to dave and baren. and one final thought for baren to hear:

Holy shit. [ THAT DOESN'T SOUND GOOD nor does it look good. dave doesn't go back in time to stop it, though, clearly, as he doesn't see himself anywhere. still, he's like, getting them out one of the windows and heading for a different one... ]

[ - is all he manages because he's being swept out of their like a goddamn damsel apparently. There's the natural frustration because he definitely should've known better than to bring in an animal on a mission like that but it's what happens when you're too used to being gifted with a youkai. Their getaway sure was interrupted by MAGIC.

Anyway that youkai is ambling up to them now from the outside, nudging against Baren as soon as he's put back down and Baren automatically reaches for the GoPro.]

You're back, huh? Then... [ - and he'll open up the video footage to review it. Fog, steam, shiny blue gem, wolf's pawprint on it and then - yup a roar. Okay. Good.

He turns to Dave - ]

.... So what's the extent of your time powers? You can shield us from other people seeing us, right? [ - or at least that's what he remembers from their memory share bullshit.]

When I froze time the once? It kind of created a...bubble. I can freeze time for an hour now, though. If I push to the limit, I'll get a little tired, but...nothing else will move unless I want it to. Generally.

Cool - and your flashstep works at same time? How about that thing where you said there could be two or three of you?

Yeah, it can. [ although baren you MIGHT PUSH HIM ] For the multiples of me, I'd just loop back to the point I was needed. So it's really just me, but at different chronological points. I'll have to live out every loop, so the second me will have done this already, and also that, and so on.

[ so too many loops and he'll get.

That should be... fine - I don't hear Z screaming or ice breaking, so he's probably okay. [He puts the GoPro back on Tanuki and nudges him - ] Hey, find Z. Don't do anything unless it looks like he's gonna die.

[Splitting up his resources continues....]

Then let's look around and see if there's any clues as to who she is or what we can do to fix the Z problem. Don't stop time yet but maybe later.
