[Maybe you weren't even in line of sight of Shuji. Just about everyone has a reason to be out and about on a Saruday afternoon, and nobody wants their day interrupted by the ground falling out from under them. Maybe you don't even instantly recognize that the library entrance you fall into would be part of Shuji's subconscious and not anybody else's.

This is how things ended up for you today, unfortunately. Might as well take a look around and see if you can't spot the man himself.

ENTRANCE

[You find yourself in an entrance hall which may or may not be familiar to you - it’s an almost identical match to the National Library that appeared in Apprassage. The only difference is the paintings that line the walls; Shuji’s in a lot more of these pictures than in the National Library.

Oh, and it’s missing a front door, that’s different too. Looks like the only way to exit is up the stairs and through the doors that lead to the main hall.]

Whoa, whoa. What's going on in here? [She looks around and carefully starts to walk up the stairs.] Did Mr. Tsushima decorate this place as a shrine to himself?

[Well, this is certainly different. Winding up somewhere unfamiliar is something Jaeger's getting used to, so his first instinct is to check and see if there's anything that might be immediately a threat. His second instinct is to check for his weapon, since he usually carries that with him wherever he goes. Does he still have his briefcase or are we doing this without weapons?]

[This place is...uncomfortable, it reminds him a bit too much of Spencer's estates and the training facility, the same sort of large, grand setup that Wesker is entirely too familiar with. He finds himself wishing, briefly, that he had his guns; he tries to shake it off as best he can, however. Hopefully there's nothing that will require shooting anything in here; because Resident Evil memories have trained him very well into looking up, he's going to do that as he makes his way toward the center of the room, checking the light fixtures and verifying that they at least look stable on a spot check as he makes his way toward the stairs.]

[ john's not entirely unfamiliar with the place, even as few times as he's dropped by it. familiar enough that he strolls with his typical ease, hands tucked behind his head as he surveys the pictures. those give his smile a touch of amusement, actually-- he wondrs if someone did that for shuji, or...? (did he do that himself...?)

regardless, they're not something he quite remembers-- what's happening in them? ]

[ oda is...a little suspicious over what is happening, but he definitely recognizes the national library.

as soon as he starts making his way to the stairs, though, he can't help but to take note of...all the pictures. ]

I'm going to have to ask Shuji why his dream has so many pictures of himself...

[...At least that means the solution is easy? After casting a glance around, Tatsuma begins walking up the stairs. Though he seems fairly relaxed, he's on the alert, relying on his ability to sense other souls in hopes of finding someone else in here.]

MAIN HALL

[As in the National Library, the main hall has… a ton of books. Like, a fuckton. They’re stacked high enough that there are ladders scattered about just so people can reach the top shelves. You could stay here all week and not even come close to finishing the selection. But that wouldn’t help Shuji out, so you probably shouldn’t.

Aside from the shelves, there are some chairs for comfortable reading and a goodly number of lamps for those who like to read late.

There’s an exit in the back as well as hallways to the left and right, and of course the entrance that you came in from.]

[Before Lina even knows it, she's lifting off the ground to see the tops of the bookshelves -- wait, what.]

No way! Oh, uh, can't knock these things over...

[She tries her best not to flail. Now that she's up here, though, is there anything she can spot from up here that stands out?]

[Well, it seems like there's nothing dangerous in here either, so in we go!

All the books are certainly interesting, and he'll glance over them briefly just to see if anything in particular stands out.]

[This is...decidedly less unsettling than the entrance hall was, and he has to admit that he appreciates it; he won't stay all day, though he has to admit he's tempted - that countdown is more than enough to urge him on, though.

What sort of books are we looking at? He'll be glancing them over, definitely (just because he won't stay to try to peruse them all doesn't mean he can't be curious, after all).]

honestly, john's also tempted to seat himself in one of those comfy chairs and relax just a bit. he shouldn't. but still, he thinks he can afford a look or two into some of these titles, so john's glancing at a few covers here and there. ]

[ well oda's in a bit of a hurry, but he can't help but be in awe over how grand the place is.

that said, he will take some time to look at the spines of the books. is there anything interesting about it? ]

Tatsuma actually will pause to check out some of the books on the shelves, maybe this is a JRPG?. He'll only skim them at best, but are there any of interest or should we spend more time walking?]

<sub>[ Oh. Okay. Wow. Yogi's eyes widen at the sight of all the books, a sumptuous display of knowledge and stories. He wasn't much of a reader himself, but even he could appreciate what was in front of him.

Slowly he walked further in, head swiveling side to side as he tried to take it all in, to understand the scope. But still, had he not heard voices earlier? What about those? Where were they in all of this? He took a breath, already feeling bad about raising his voice above a respectful whisper, but... ]</sub>

DINING HALL

[On the other side of the main hall, you find what’s probably a dining room. Plenty of tables are set up, four chairs to a table, and menus are tacked up on the walls next to pictures of flowers.

An array of food has been set up on a long table, with a sign: HELP YOURSELF. There are doors on either side: one is in worse repair than anything you’ve seen in here thus far, and one looks perfectly normal.]

[To the dining hall! Maybe he'll check the doors in the hallways later, but for now, time to explore!

This is a pretty cute room, but Jaeger does not trust the food. If this is some kind of dream or memory or something then who knows what that food will do. Better to ignore it!!

So aside from the food set out, is there anything else to check out here, besides the doors?]

[Well, this is interesting.

He doesn't exactly trust heart-food either, but you know what, fuck it, if anything here looks like it isn't going to result in immediate death, he'll do as he's told and eat something, here's hoping this isn't like some sort of fae thing.

Honestly, the only reason he's willing to do this is he doesn't believe Shuji would set up something like this to intentionally harm people.]

BAR

[Through the door you find a bar. Unlike the door, everything here is shiny and new - there are tons of wines in various varieties and vintages, flowers on the table, a record player… Three clocks are on the wall, that’s two too many, but at least they’re all in good condition?

A redheaded man is cleaning a glass when you walk in. You can see that there’s another door behind him.]

[...Huh. Given the state of the door, he was expecting something a lot less nice. The clocks are curious, but his attention's on the bartender. Jaeger considers for a moment before approaching, holding up a hand in greeting.]

Good afternoon? ...Is it afternoon?

[Time is an illusion, etc.

He's still got his hand on the weapon just in case this goes bad, but right now it's still in its briefcase form.]

COURTYARD

[You come out into a lovely courtyard. The pond is still and clean, and there’s a bench placed just right for sitting and overlooking it. Flowers grow from bushes and a well-tended vegetable garden sits on the other side of the pond.

You get a sudden feeling that everything is going to be alright.]

[Oh, this is very nice! It's beautiful and peaceful, and the sense that everything is going to be alright is appreciated right now. Sure, there's still the countdown on his hand and he has no idea where Shuji is or what's going to happen when he finds Shuji, but for a moment everything does seem fine.

...But he's not one to stand around for too long, and now's certainly no exception. Time to check this place out! He'll check out the pond first, is there anything interesting over here?]

LOUNGE

[The left hallway takes you to what looks like a lounge. It’s dotted with comfortable chairs, coffee tables with vases of flowers, lamps - which are already on? Someone doesn’t care about their dreamscape’s electric bill - a china cabinet, everything you would need for a relaxing time.

A blond-haired young man in overalls is whistling to himself as he carves up a potato.]

[...That's. Um. Well. It certainly is, he supposes.]

OFFICE

[This office is a mess. The desk has papers strewn everywhere and the floor is not much better. The bookshelf is half-empty and definitely not arranged in alphabetical order. The light hanging overhead is missing its bulb.

Shuji, sitting on top of the desk, smiles a sweet smile at you.]

[Ah, there he is. Jaeger holds up his free hand in greeting.]

I was wondering where you were! You have quite a nice place here; I've had a good time looking around!

INFIRMARY

[The right hallway takes you to what looks like an infirmary. There are a number of hospital beds and curtains to draw in front of them, as well as an adorable cat plush for a sick patient to hug. The cabinets are full of medicines and ink bottles, and various papers are stuck on bulletin boards.

A young man in an extremely tacky crop top is leaning against a wall, and gives a casual nod as you walk in.]

[...He'll note the ink bottles quickly enough, as well as this very tacky gentleman; best to not be rude, he supposes.]

Another of Shuji's heart manifestations, I imagine. It's a pleasure.

A BOOK

[You find yourself in a forest. A forest with letters floating in the sky and lining the trees, but still a forest.

You also find Shuji. He’s on the ground, unarmed, surrounded by black inky creatures that clearly do not mean well. He’s bruised and battered, but conscious, and he lifts his head when you appear.

His scythe is several feet out of his reach, laying on the ground near you.

[...Right. All right, this is going to suck no matter how he chooses to handle this - there's no guarantee that Shuji can actually still use this thing, seeing as he's injured, and Wesker doesn't exactly trust himself to use a scythe well enough to not maim Shuji.

You know what, he'll pick it up anyway because holy shit, if all else fails hopefully we can get the hell out of here and to the infirmary. Test swing nowhere near Shuji? Test swing nowhere near Shuji.

...God, scythes suck as weapons - ]
