[When the world went white, it threatened to crush Fai's plans for Iwai's first real birthday party ever. How on Earth were they supposed to have a paintball party when they had to paint the world just to see any of it? Over the next several hours of frantic painting just to see their house and pets again, however, a plan began to evolve.

On Friday a text went out to everyone Fai thought might be coming to the party, and everyone he'd talked to about it:]

CHANGE OF PLANS. BDAY PARTY FOR IWAI, MAY 6 @ 2PM @ UNSTOPPABLE. LETS HELP MUNE-CHAN PAINT UNSTOPPABLE! cake and drinks coming with us. lmk if you need help finding the shop

[Small bits of the paintball shop are already visible, mostly near the corners, as Iwai's done his best to restore his livelihood by himself. And yes this is a surprise party--Fai actually managed to keep from spilling the beans.

Fai will be driving to the party, a cake and snacks and drinks packed into his newly-painted, pretty little sea-green Prius. While the painting is going on he'll be setting up a folding table nearby for refreshments, and there's a good chance he'll end up trying to convince someone to team up with him and splatter everyone else with paint at some point. Because he's a giant ten-year-old.

[Iwai's been working hard to get it so he can at least find everything in his shop. It's a little annoying that everything is black and white right now but he figures he'll just live with this. Not like he's got much of a choice in the matter currently.

Still, he's startled when his shop opens up and people...come join him. People that are here for him? Iwai isn't sure what to make of it at first as people he cares about actually come in to start combining paint to make his shop come back to life. To make items reappear. Doorways reveal themselves.

It's not until he hears the first "Happy Birthday" that he actually remembers what today is. At that point when he's not helping out with his own painting, he's off to the side just kind of amazed as he watches everyone.

He...really does have a family here huh. It's nice. It feels like home.]

[Kenta has been used as a human shield almost as soon as people started to fling paint at each other instead of just the shop, so after a while he'll step to the side just so he can clean up a little.

At least he had enough foresight this time, knowing what he was getting into, to pin his hair up and cover it with a sort of shower cap so he wouldn't have to scrub it clean.

He sits down next to Iwai as he starts rubbing his face with a wet towel, and nods at him.]

Otanjoubi omedetou, Iwai-san.

[They have a weird relationship, him and Kenta. It started out with such tension but it's turned into something that's actually pretty nice. He really appreciates the friendship they have and likes the kid a lot. Hell, he kinda thinks of him as family in his own unique way. Not that they've ever discussed this but they aren't really the types to do that with each other. Not about this anyway.

Some things are just best left unspoken.

Which apparently doesn't include birthday wishes but hey Iwai doesn't mind.]

Thanks, kid. Actually forgot that was today until all of ya showed up.

[While everyone else is painting the shop (or each other) Fai is off to one side, setting up the cake and plates and everything else on the little folding table he brought for the occasion. Which makes it even easier for him to sneak up behind Iwai at some point (or at least attempt to be sneaky) and lift his hands up and around Iwai's shoulders to rest lightly in front of the other man's eyes.]

Better be my hot vampire boyfriend otherwise he's gonna be jealous.

[He smirks and reaches around to pull Fai around in front of him so he can give him a quick kiss.]

You got all these people to come here for this?

[ Akira... Did what he could with pastries. Unfortunately, they're just outlines, but they're cute as hell outlines. They rest somewhere for everyone to munch on, but he beelines to Iwai with eyes determined and an outline of a large glass with the grandest parfait anyone has seen.

Of course it's cat-themed.

On the other hand is his paintbrush, however. ]

What are you doing over here, birthday boy?

[Iwai honestly appreciates the pastries as they are and has partaken in...several. But he's distracted by the fact that Akira is coming to him with a thing that looks like it might be a parfait? Maybe?

Look. You try to figure out what some of the foods are when all you get is some splashed outlines.

He snorts at the question though.]

Pretty sure it's still my shop so I can be wherever I want in it, kid.

[Derek had been painting for a while when he sees Iwai step off the the side and watching. Derek strolls over, smiles, and gestures at the painting process.]

I think it's coming along nicely, don't you?

Yeah. Actually looks like I have a shop again. Lot of the colors are still messed up but it's nice to actually see shit again.

[Seriously. He appreciates this.]

[ What do you know, it looks like even Fai's moody kid decided to show up. At some point he'll approach Iwai. His face is half covered by a paint mask, and he's wearing a bunch of older clothe he doesn't care about getting dirty. Timcanpy is on his shoulder, also wearing a small paint mask. Where did they find one in his size....? It's a mystery.]

Hey if we find one of your paintball guns, can we use it to spread paint?

[Well hey there Noah. Good to see you here. No really. Iwai is genuinely glad to see him.]

Seems like only the brushes are repainting everything right now. I found a bunch of my guns but I doubt they're actually going to do shit for us. Besides, I don't want those fired in my shop.

[Of course Kenta came when the message arrived. This whole thing is throwing a lots of plans off into the air, but at least since the original was a paintball party, this is almost the same as what was planned.

Of course, pretty soon, people are flinging paint at each other about as much as they are doing it at the shop. And when this happens, people might realize that Kenta is, well... big. And convenient to hide behind when you're being aimed at. And he doesn't seem to be fast enough to move out of the way most of the time.

[Kenta really hadn't planned this, but ever since the paint fight started, people have been ducking behind him, and while he's tried to move out of the way at times, he hasn't been very successful.

And he gets another paint splatter right in the middle of the chest.]

[Honestly it mostly seems like it's just Fai flinging paint, and laughing like a madman about it. He's not necessarily trying to get everyone drenched in the stuff however, he's more interested in making a game of it--like a surreal game of tag.

When he gets to Kenta he pauses, hardly winded and with a big grin on his face, and his paintbrush tucked behind his back.

And slowly advances, still grinning, like a cat toying with his prey.]

[Oh no, Fai, you don't. That's what Kenta's cocked eyebrow seems to say as he brings his brush in front of him like a sword.

... A very short, slightly drippy sword, but whatever. he knows what you're trying to do. Iwai is right, you suck at being sneaky. It's lucky you have the most oblivious boyfriend in the world.]

I. CLOSED TO IWAI.

[Finding a gift for Iwai that wouldn't be breaking he quickly depleting bank account (he's having to pay double the rent now that he roommate moved out) was a bit difficult. Not that he couldn't afford something reasonable, it was more, what did you get a guy who probably owned all things paintball? Iwai and him had originally bonded over paintball and that's what Derek felt like he knew the most about. That's when Derek remembered that Iwai mentioned he liked tea. That he could work with.

When the painting is finally done everyone is eating cake, Derek walks up to Iwai and holds out a gift bag to him.]

Happy Birthday Iwai!

[Inside Iwai will find a portable tea steeping thermos.]

II. OTA

[Derek was happy to come and help paint Iwai's shop. He is Iwai's best customer, so it would be ridiculous if he didn't come. Besides, Iwai was a great friend. Derek dove right into painting Unstoppable, though still tried to do his best by not getting too much paint on himself. When the paint throwing war started Derek quickly stepped off to the side to avoid any attacks.]

Ok, I think I'm gonna sit this part of the party out...

[He blinks at the bat that he's been given. How the hell had Derek managed to even find a bag or a present to give him in all of this color drained madness? He takes it out and sees the thermos.]

A thermos, huh? Seems like it's glass too.

[At least he thinks so? It's really hard telling what materials are right now okay.]

[Derek nods.]

Yeah, it's a glass thermos. It actually is able to steep tea for you. I figured since you are so opinionated on tea, that this could be something useful for you.

[So, this wasn't the party they had planned. But even so. She wants to try help out, and they may as well make the best of this? Make the most of the situation in rearranging things for Iwai, to help him out and in helping with the situation in general.

So of course she shows up, ready to paint, while also at least initially helping Fai with the food and drinks. Helping serve others, and then eventually being told to go help and have fun painting, so she does, getting the lower parts that the taller adults might have more challenge with.]

[Xiaolang's been so focused on painting this one particular part of the wall that he's nearly forgotten all about food-- which isn't really all that good?? So when Sakura approaches him, cake and snacks and drink in hand, he blinks at her for a moment in surprise, the silence only being interrupted by the well-timed grumble of his stomach. Flushing a bit sheepishly, he accepts the plate and cup from her, before gracing her with that small, sweet smile that only emerged while she was around.]

[He really is quite the picture to behold, though, his normally neat clothing speckled with paint and color smudged across his face, but you could probably blame Fai and like.... the rest of the city for that.]

[Iwai sees her serving the food and gives her a smile. Going up, he ruffles her hair then takes some of the food she's offering and has a bite as he moves around to stand with her.]

So were you in on this thing with Fai?

[Xiaolang had been a little unsure about coming to the party in the first place (it felt more like a family thing, and he didn't want to presume he was closer to Iwai than he actually was), but Sakura had invited him, and she and Fai seemed enthusiastic about it, so he couldn't exactly say no. As always, these sort of things were out of his element, so he wasn't about to go around and mingle like some of the other party-goers might. Instead, he's going to be intently working on whatever spot he's decided to paint, going a route similar to Sakura in using his smaller height to get the harder to maneuver parts. He's not about to snub any adults or other guests who may approach him to say hello, however, and anyone who spots him near a certain young lady might actually??? get to see him smile?? Holy cow.

Once Fai starts the paint war, however, he's going to want NO part in that, opting to duck behind some of the already finished appliances or chairs (or maybe even people if they're close enough??), but not before yelling out a little in indignation:]

This isn't what we came here for!!

[... no. No, this is EXACTLY what they came here for, child.]

[Orion kind of nopes himself over to the corner, not really finding it a great idea to get splattered by paint that isn't in a gun. Actually, maybe it's better without the guns, but he still doesn't want to be splattered. He ducks behind a corner himself, finding he's sharing his hiding spot with... some squirt of a kid. He stares at Xiaolang a moment.]

What? I mean.... it kind of is? I guess. It was originally supposed to be paintball today, right?

....Aren't kids supposed to like getting messy?

[Not that he's blaming Xialong, not even a little. He just has alot of assumptions about how kids work.]

[Iwai's kind of amazed those chairs are here. Someone must have brought them.

Anyway, he lifts a brow at the kid.]

I'm pretty sure that this isn't your party, kid.

[He's the one who should be complaining and he seems to be totally fine here.]
