[When the world went white, it threatened to crush Fai's plans for Iwai's first real birthday party ever. How on Earth were they supposed to have a paintball party when they had to paint the world just to see any of it? Over the next several hours of frantic painting just to see their house and pets again, however, a plan began to evolve.

On Friday a text went out to everyone Fai thought might be coming to the party, and everyone he'd talked to about it:]

CHANGE OF PLANS. BDAY PARTY FOR IWAI, MAY 6 @ 2PM @ UNSTOPPABLE. LETS HELP MUNE-CHAN PAINT UNSTOPPABLE! cake and drinks coming with us. lmk if you need help finding the shop

[Small bits of the paintball shop are already visible, mostly near the corners, as Iwai's done his best to restore his livelihood by himself. And yes this is a surprise party--Fai actually managed to keep from spilling the beans.

Fai will be driving to the party, a cake and snacks and drinks packed into his newly-painted, pretty little sea-green Prius. While the painting is going on he'll be setting up a folding table nearby for refreshments, and there's a good chance he'll end up trying to convince someone to team up with him and splatter everyone else with paint at some point. Because he's a giant ten-year-old.

[They have a weird relationship, him and Kenta. It started out with such tension but it's turned into something that's actually pretty nice. He really appreciates the friendship they have and likes the kid a lot. Hell, he kinda thinks of him as family in his own unique way. Not that they've ever discussed this but they aren't really the types to do that with each other. Not about this anyway.

Some things are just best left unspoken.

Which apparently doesn't include birthday wishes but hey Iwai doesn't mind.]

[It's only polite and respectful to wish a happy birthday to someone older than you especially when you are invited to their birthday party.

But still...]

You forgot? Fai has been planning this for a while. He was wondering how to make sure you wouldn't find out, but I don't think he should have worried.

Has he? Damn.

[He rubs the back of his neck as he looks around the lines of his shelves to where he can see Fai splattering someone playfully with paint. Damn he loves that guy.]

He really is something else. But yeah, I completely forgot. I've never celebrated it until today, after all.

[He knows that look, Iwai. He's pretty sure he's sporting it a lot of the time as well.]

There's a first time for everything. That's a good first time to have with someone you love.

[Many people would be horrified or be sympathetic, instead of expressing it that way. But Kenta used to never like his birthday before he met Jirou.]

Yeah. It's impressive too. He's usually really bad at the whole sneaky thing.

[Man when they get home...

Anyway, he laughs a bit and shakes his head.]

Thanks for coming, kid. It's good to have ya here.

I think he has some help on this one.

I wouldn't have missed it. Plus, it's actually rather relaxing to be able to do this. I mean, once you're over the blind panic of your home and your dog being gone and you've more or less found them again, then it's a good way to relieve frustration.

Yeah. I had to keep Fai calm about losing the house and the cats and making sure the kids were alright.

[Luckily they got that sorted out fast enough.]

[To be honest, Kenta almost lost his shit at the idea of Kenti being missing. That and his sword. It was lucky he had the GPS coordinates of the building or he might have done something stupid.]

I can imagine. I was rather unhappy about the whole thing myself.

How'd your guy handle the alcohol bottles going missing until you painted them back?

[He's imagining between that and the dog going missing there was a meltdown.]

Not being able to drink makes Jirou angry. And when he is angry, he gets things done very, very quickly.

[As in, even Kenta will get out of his way when that happens.]

And I don't like him being unhappy.

[So you can bet those bottles and the liquor store got repainted extra fast.]

Huh. I have trouble picturing him angry. And I find I don't really want to know what that looks like too.

[Someone that cheerful all the time is sure to be scary when blown up.]

Even I know it's best to get out of the way when that happens. You don't want to be the thing that comes between Jirou and his alcohol.

[In the past, it was a good way to get hurt. Now, with Retrospec memories and sword things, it's a good way to get dead.]

Not like I was ever planning to. I may not know him well but even I can see he's better off drunk.

Everyone is better off with Jirou drunk.

[Most people would laugh it off as being overdramatic or silly, but the look on Kenta's face would disabuse them of that notion. For a second he actually looks vaguely scared as he remembers one or two occasions... before he shakes himself out of it.]

The crisis is averted, thankfully.

I think he started carrying the sake jug around for safety, just in case.

That thing is huge. Old fashioned too.

[But hey. If it works then it works, right? Least that's what Iwai figures. He sure isn't going to complain about it that's for damn sure.]
