[When the world went white, it threatened to crush Fai's plans for Iwai's first real birthday party ever. How on Earth were they supposed to have a paintball party when they had to paint the world just to see any of it? Over the next several hours of frantic painting just to see their house and pets again, however, a plan began to evolve.

On Friday a text went out to everyone Fai thought might be coming to the party, and everyone he'd talked to about it:]

CHANGE OF PLANS. BDAY PARTY FOR IWAI, MAY 6 @ 2PM @ UNSTOPPABLE. LETS HELP MUNE-CHAN PAINT UNSTOPPABLE! cake and drinks coming with us. lmk if you need help finding the shop

[Small bits of the paintball shop are already visible, mostly near the corners, as Iwai's done his best to restore his livelihood by himself. And yes this is a surprise party--Fai actually managed to keep from spilling the beans.

Fai will be driving to the party, a cake and snacks and drinks packed into his newly-painted, pretty little sea-green Prius. While the painting is going on he'll be setting up a folding table nearby for refreshments, and there's a good chance he'll end up trying to convince someone to team up with him and splatter everyone else with paint at some point. Because he's a giant ten-year-old.

[Popping another bite into his mouth, he shakes his head. After he swallows, he responds.]

I don't need any of that to be made up for honestly. It is what is and it's in the past now. I have you and these guys in my life now. That more than I ever thought I'd have.

[Especially since when he was growing up he literally thought he'd just have...nothing.]

[Fai nuzzles his face a little farther into the crook of Iwai's neck and huffs out a little puff of breath.]

Next year we'll do a real paintball game, at least. If the world doesn't collapse again.

[geckoman]

Could be fun.

[A couple more bites and he's finished his cake, setting the plate aside.]

Come on. Let's kick all these people out and get home. The cake was good but I'm ready to head back.

[...yep, that's his grumpy hermit alright.

Fai laughs and squeezes Iwai one more time in a hug before complying. They've got the shop visible now, after all, and if Iwai is people'd out he's not going to force him to stick around any longer. Fai makes sure to thank everyone for coming to the party and helping him celebrate Mune-chan's birthday, and makes sure everyone got a piece of cake (he knows his family too well to pawn off the extra cake, however--that's coming home with them).

As soon as the folding table and snacks and everything else are all packed up in the Prius again, Iwai gets another kiss and a promise to meet him at home soon. Fai and the kids have a gecko to go get ready.]

[geckoman]

[Iwai has to close up the shop and make sure things are in order so he does that before driving home as well. When he gets there, he pulls off his hat and it's the surprise of a lifetime to see what that present is.

Hours later when Fai and Iwai are alone in their room he's still in shock over having gotten that gecko, the little thing currently resting contentedly on his chest as a finger of his gently strokes the back. Damn this is just...

Yeah he has no words. This is just too amazing.]

[After a shower to get the rest of the stray paint flecks off his skin (no idea how THAT happened, ahem), Fai wanders back from the bathroom wearing a painted black-and-white robe and combing his damp hair over one shoulder. It's still disorienting wandering through the house that's become so familiar and comfortable and seeing everything in splotches and outlines. Thank goodness they've managed to at least piece enough of the house together that they can all more or less function as needed. Even if it's going to take some getting used to.

He pauses in the doorway, even the movement of the comb through his hair stilling as he watches Iwai quietly for a moment. And grins.

Iwai why are you so goddamn adorable.]

I'm glad he really seems to like you.

[geckoman]

[He's not adorable, damn it. He's a manly man who is so touch. And manly. Yep.

Anyway, he looks over at his boyfriend then back at the little thing that's just so happy to just hang out there on his chest. Leopard gecko really are into that kind of thing so it works out. He figures he can go put him back in a moment but he is kinda thrilled to have the thing just hanging out on him like this.]

Never thought I'd have one of these little guys.

[flowrite]

[Uh huh. Manly and tough on the outside and gooey on the inside. Just accept it.

Not wanting to spook the little creature unduly (can geckos even get spooked?), Fai keeps his movements slow and languid as he crosses the room to sit on the edge of the bed.]

Never underestimate the scheming nature of your boyfriend and your daughter, Foxy-chan. Of course I don't know if we're ever going to manage to top this present, but...

[He shrugs and smiles. Mostly he's just happy that Iwai's so happy right now.]

[geckoman]

[He snorts at that.]

I'm gonna keep a closer eye on you two from now on.

[Reaching out his hand, he beckons for Fai to give him his hand.]

Come here. Give me your hand for a second.

[flowrite]

You'll never catch us! We're ninja.

[Snickering softly to himself, Fai sets the comb down on the bedspread and scoots a little closer, holding up the hand closest to Iwai.]

[geckoman]

[Guiding him closer, he helps him gently guide his fingers over to very lightly stroke the gecko resting on his chest.]

Yeah. Like that. Soft, right?

[flowrite]

[Some of the feeling in Fai's fingertips is shot, thanks to the scarring there, so he's extra careful not to press down too hard and hurt Iwai's new baby. He does manage to get the gist of what Iwai's trying to demonstrate, however.

...and yeah, tough and manly Fai's ass. After a careful stroke down the gecko's back he looks up at his boyfriend and grins.]

Speaking of soft, Mister Softie. Have you decided what to name him yet?

[geckoman]

[He snorts at the name.]

I ain't a softie.

[Okay maybe a little but just try to keep it sort of on the down low, Fai. Even if he knows that's a lost cause.]

Not sure actually. Always figured I'd never have one even if I wanted one so I just never bothered to figure out a name.

[flowrite]

[At this point Fai has to resist abandoning petting the gecko to instead smother Iwai with kisses... although honestly that's. Most times. Most days. So.

Instead he bites his lip, still with that kind of dopey, incredibly fond look he tends to get around his boyfriend.]

Well, for-your-information I named him Inky. Because we had to paint him back after all of this happened, and he was a little black inkspot, and it sounded cute! You don't have to call him Inky, but he's Inky to me~

[geckoman]

[Inky, huh? He lifts a brow at the name and sits up so he can gently move the gecko back to his little home in his habitat. Which currently lives here in the bedroom. It might stay there, it might not. He'll figure that out tomorrow.]

Alright. He's Inky then.

[Yep. That's what that gecko is named now.]

[O-Oh. Fai hadn't... actually expected Iwai to go along with his knee-jerk, silly nickname, but okay?? He's actually kind of flattered now, as evidenced by the stupid grin as Iwai tucks the little creature back into his habitat for the night.

As soon as the gecko is secure, Fai gives in and leans over to kiss Iwai on the cheek.]

Happy birthday, Foxy-chan. That's almost all of your presents now~

[geckoman]

This one better involve your clothes being the wrapping and you the present.

[Hey. He knows what he wants, Fai. And he did tell someone earlier that he wanted to go home and have sex with you. So there you go.]

[flowrite]

[Fai throws his head back and laughs at that.]

You guessed! Cheater~

[He grins and wraps his arms around Iwai's middle.]

But since it's your birthday I'll let you decide: do you want to wait a bit and get the special, deluxe wrapped present, or do you want to be impatient and settle for what you've got now?

[geckoman]

[Well that's not where he expected that one to go. He blinks a few times then tilts his head to the side to look him up then down.]

What's the deluxe present?

[Admittedly Fai's in his cute silk robe now, so he doesn't exactly look like a Plain Jane, but his hair's all loose and that's about it. He can do so much better Iwai, just you wait.]

A kimono. Hair pinned up nicely so you can mess it up if you want to. All the bells and whistles~

[geckoman]

[Oh hey...Fai's telling him what the present is.

Aaaaaaaaand he's interested.]

Yeah? Alright. I can wait.

[flowrite]

[Excellent choice Iwai.

Fai grins and gives him another kiss on the cheek before pulling away to head back toward the bathroom and the closet area.]

Oh, and you might want to cover Inky's tank if you can. We don't need to scar him for life his very first night in here~!

[geckoman]

[Now that gets a snort out of him as he stretches out on the bed to wait.]

He's a gecko. He'll be fine.

[flowrite]

If you sa~ay so~

[Fai shoots him a coy look over his shoulder and then resumes sauntering toward the bathroom.]

I'll be back in just a bit. Make yourself comfortable~

[He stretches on his back and put his hands behind his head. He'll just be here waiting, Fai. He's looking forward to this.]
