WHAT: The log for the blind dates event! Awkward dates and disasters within.

It’s finally the fated day: Valentine’s.

Some of Recolle’s citizens might be going out, spending the day with their loved ones, while others might be sitting in bars, crying into their drinks. For a number of “lucky” ones, they might have gotten dragged into a blind date!

The Narukami twins have done their jobs. All the matches have been released. Partners have been assigned. Messages have been sent out. Now all that needs to happen are the actual dates. So, run free, everyone. The entire city is there to be their playground. They can go on their own respective dates, join up with other couples, spy on others, sabotage some, anything is fair game. After all, it’s not really fun if someone’s not crashing on another person’s party, right?

[It's that time again, where love is in the air. Thankfully for him, he joined the blind dating event that was organized by the twins he met on Retrospec and right now, he's in the Recolle Square wearing a semi-fancy outfit as he waits for his blind date partner to arrive.

According to the text message from the twins yesterday, he was paired up with a woman named "May" and judging by the profile picture of her Retrospec profile, he noticed that she might be a little tomboyish and an energetic girl.

Regardless of her attire, though, he can't wait to meet her in person. But the question is where is she right now?]

-Tomboyish was probably the most generous way of putting it. The fact that she was wearing worn jeans with holes at the knees and a throwback baseball jersey, and a ragged looking leather jacket on top of that, probably spoke volumes about how she tended to prepare for "nights out". At least she sore her hair down, but the worn out, faded orange beanie wasn't doing her many favors.

Though not that he'd notice any of that at first. May purposefully made sure to spot him out of the crowd before she approached, and did so from behind, hoping to get the jump on the guy. Because why not? What better way to start a blind date than with a little excitement? She could have lifted his wallet, too, but he needed that to pay for said date, so she'd leave it be... For now.

Two hands clasped his shoulders from behind, a loud shout accompanying them.-

'SUP, ROMEO! -You only got one chance at a first impression, they say. May decided this would be hers, smiling bright for when he turned around.-

[First impressions are everything, yet the tomboyish girl might have overdone it. As she jumped behind him and greeted, Augustine quickly jumped and screamed in shock before he turned around and sees the girl in a ragged-looking leather jacket and worn jeans.

While this is not what his beautiful blind date partner supposed to be, he just shrugs it off as close choice considering he doesn't care about their attire or appearances after all. Besides, she really made a strong entrance, perhaps a little too strong.]

My goodness... I was about to get a heart attack after that...

I take it you're May, correct?

In the flesh, homeboy! -She gave a flourished bow.- Sorry to spook ya, but you made it so easy for me, I couldn't help myself. Need some time to calm the ol' ticker down?

[Well, she is energetic indeed, not to mention very unique. At least this might be an interesting date for him.]

I see... Well, you might know my name already in Retrospec, but I'm Augustine Sauveterre. It's very nice to meet you, May.

Pleasure's all mine. So, what's the gameplan, my man? I ain't dressed for anything fancy. Because I don't own anything fancy. Never suited me, ya feel me? -She nudged at him, personal space apparently just a suggestion in her book.-

But if you're after some grub, I know some good cheap places! Greasy spoon types, yanno?

[So she really is a tomboy, not that he can complain. Besides, while he's the type to flirt with beautiful ladies, he's open to any women around him.]

I'm not really hungry for now, but if you want, we could go to Recolle Zoo.

Hey, I'm up for that! They got an aquarium there, right? -Not that she didn't love animals in general, but fish were her jam.-

Why, yes. In fact, they might show a presentation on sea lions for Valentine's Day. Do you want to see it?

[If he remembers from one of the employees who told him about the event, those said sea lions are shown because they look like a couple to most of the visitors.]

Even better, in that case! -She was practically bouncing.-

C'mon, c'mon, s'go, s'go! -Literally bouncing.-

[She is energetic even to a point that she's practically bouncing around in excitement. But she has a point, they might head off to the zoo right now before the presentation starts.]

Hold on, let's take my car. It might be easier than to walk to the zoo.

[He sometimes walked around the city without it as he feels it might be a healthy way to get around, but just for this blind date, he decide to use his car so they don't have any problem getting around the city.]

W-whoa... -It was the only way she could really react to that care, clearly more than just a little impressed. She'd only ever seen things like that from a distance, and never even imagined being inside one. It made her wobble a bit, her enthusiasm giving way to reverie.-

[Judging by her reaction on seeing his car, he can tell that she is impressed by it. But to be honest, the reason why he can afford it is because of his family connection. However, he's not the type to take advantage of his wealth.]

Don't be shy, come in.

[If she did, he can able to drive to their destination, which is the Recolle Zoo and Aquarium.]

H-hey, I'm not the shy type, buddy, this is just... Whoo. Never even been this close to a car this nice.

-She eased herself into the car, still not looking entirely comfortable. There was just an overwhelming sense that she didn't belong in this. It was too nice. Too expensive.-

[As he can guess from her words, this might her first time to ride this type of vehicle. But now that he thinks about, he's wondering if she usually used public transport to go around the city.

Once they arrived at Recolle Zoo, Augustine got out of the car first in order to open the other door for May to get out.]

Here we are. And just in time, too.

[Not only he was relieved to see that there are only a few more minutes until the presentation, but also that there's a few people lined up at the ticket counter, giving them little time to spend time waiting for their tickets.]

-She seemed to be more relaxed once she was out of the car, at least. May took in a deep breath when they got in line for the tickets, letting it out, as if trying to level herself for a moment. No need to be so uncomfortable, she told herself. It's just a date.-

I wonder if they've changed the show up any since last year. I think I've managed to go every year since I was a little kid and they first build this exhibit.

If I can remember last year's Valentine's Day event, they let some of the audience to interact the sea lion as part of their presentation.

[While he didn't join last year's presentation, though, he did remember that it really was enjoyable.]

And to be honest, I once had a part-time job in this zoo when I was in high school.

No kidding, huh? Do you like animals? What do you do for a living now? -He had to have a pretty cushy job, she thought, to afford a car like that.-

Why yes. In fact, I'm teaching in Recolle University right now as a college professor of animal biology. Although, I volunteered in Recolle Animal Shelter every weekend.

[It's not like his parents' job, but he is happy to be able to teach something he loves.]

You can get a ride like that on a teacher's salary? You sure you don't have a side hustle goin' on?

Actually, my family is very wealthy and I used some of the money I've got when I became a college professor as a gift to buy the car.

But other than that, I mostly rely on my own budget and salary to pay for rent and bills.

[As their conversation continues, they are slowly getting closer to the ticket booth.]

Huh. Wouldn't really know what that's like, but I don't get the "rich guy snob" vibe from you. So I guess you're cool. -May teased a bit, her smile from earlier starting to come back little by little. It was hard for her to feel completely comfortable around a guy from such a different background as her own, but... he was nice? It went a long way to helping her feel less weird.-

[Well, that's because unlike a "rich guy snob", Augustine practically lived a normal life like all the other people thanks to his kind-hearted parents, including his older brother. Not only that, he prefers to live independently rather depend on his parents to reach his dream.

Then as they are next to the ticket booth, Augustine pays for two tickets for him and May to enter the zoo and aquarium.]

Okay, shall we go in?

After you, Romeo! -There she was, all back to her old self again, excited as she ever could be to see some marine life. She was still very much a child at heart.-

[He is still wondering if she called him "Romeo" because of his appearance and personality, but he smiles at the sight of May's energetic personality.

As it was only a few minutes until the sea lion presentation starts, they spend the few minutes getting some snacks and find some good seats to watch the show.]

Good, only 5 minutes to go until the show starts.
