VALENTINE'S DAY EVENT - BLIND DATING [OPEN]

WHAT: The log for the blind dates event! Awkward dates and disasters within.
WARNINGS: None!

It’s finally the fated day: Valentine’s.

Some of Recolle’s citizens might be going out, spending the day with their loved ones, while others might be sitting in bars, crying into their drinks. For a number of “lucky” ones, they might have gotten dragged into a blind date!

The Narukami twins have done their jobs. All the matches have been released. Partners have been assigned. Messages have been sent out. Now all that needs to happen are the actual dates. So, run free, everyone. The entire city is there to be their playground. They can go on their own respective dates, join up with other couples, spy on others, sabotage some, anything is fair game. After all, it’s not really fun if someone’s not crashing on another person’s party, right?

This is an open mingle post, so multiple threads can happen anywhere and everywhere. Indicate if the thread is closed if you’d like to keep it private, however! Dolphins, eh? They actually had the aquarium refurbished last year. So I think they might able to expand a bit for the dolphin exhibition.

[Considering he hasn't visited the dolphins or heard about the zoo's updates yet, it might be best for them to see for themselves.]

Well if they've got'em, that's a super romantic bonus for you, buddy!

But if they don't, well, I'm still having fun.

Only one way to find out.

[With May in tow, Augustine heads off to where the dolphins are. Thankfully for him, they are still there with the trainers are feeding the dolphins. Judging by their expression, he can guess they are somehow happy. And just like he guessed, the pool is somehow expanded enough for the dolphins to swim around with.]

[me_matey]

-May's face lit up like christmas, letting out an excited gasp as she dashed to the railing.-

Oh wow! It's just like when I was a kid! This is amazing!

[megabond]

[As he sees May's face lit up when she dashed to the railing to see the dolphins, Augustine just smiled at her joy and excitement of seeing them once more.]

Looks like they're still healthy, not to mention they have some new friends.

[Just then, some of the trainers notice the college professor and greeted them, stating that it's been a long time. Of course, once he sees their faces, he can guess they are the same trainers he met when he was working part-time in the zoo.]

-And of course he had an in with the caretakers, too. This guy was winning points by the minute. Who cared if they were in widely different economic classes, this guy was impressing. May stepped up right beside him, beaming, as if to say "yeah, he's with me"-

[After he greeted them back with a smile, his part-time friends explained what they are doing during his absence. Judging by their stories, he can tell how they changed a lot. Yet he also knew that their love for animals like him will never change.

When they saw May stepped up, they grinned before they teased him on finally flirting and finally got himself a girlfriend. Of course, Augustine protested that May is just his partner for their blind date. Sure, he did join the blind date for that reason, but he wouldn't go that far as declaring that he has a girlfriend until it's settled.

Once he finished his small conversation with his friends, he then join her in watching the dolphins swimming and training with their caretakers.]

Sorry about that, May.

[me_matey]

-Honestly, the conversation didn't embarrass her in the slightest. She could do worse as far as guys being mistaken for her boyfriend are concerned. She shrugged off the apology, waving her hand.-

Don't worry about it! We cool, we cool, but it's super awesome you know the dolphin handlers. And they seem like really great people!

I actually met them when I worked here part-time during my high school years. They were able to teach me the basics on taking care of the animals in here especially in the aquarium.

[me_matey]

No kidding? So you got up close and personal with the dolphins, too?

[megabond]

Yes. They actually let me swim with them as part of my training. It's not the same experience as with the sea lions, but it was enjoyable.

[He even remembers when one of the dolphins kissed him on his cheek as well.]

[me_matey]

You got to swim with dolphins! No way! -She was like a kid.-

Well, I have to thank my brother for that. Without him, I wouldn't able to take a part-time job in here and become a college professor.

[me_matey]

Even so, I'd do a lot to get even a small chance to do something like that. It's been kind of a dream of mine since I was little!

[megabond]

[So her dream is to swim with the dolphins? It's not really a rare chance, but maybe he can do something to help her. But just in case...]

Did you able to swim with the dolphins?

[me_matey]

Well, I mean, it never happened. That's mostly a thing richer kids got to do. Kids like me didn't get to do stuff like that... -She was being purposefully vague about the details, but it was pretty clear she came from a not-great background, at least economically.-

[So judging from her words, her family can't afford to visit the zoo and aquarium. Not only that, he can tell that she lived a difficult life. Thankfully for her, he can be a giving type, especially during their blind date.]

I see. Hold on for a minute.

[With that, he walked back to his friends and asked them for a favor. Thankfully, they managed to agree on his idea before they approached May and asked if she can try to swim with the young dolphin they are currently training. If she asks why they can only reply by pointing at Augustine.]

[me_matey]

-Well she didn't ask why. She just sort of squealed and nearly tackled Augustine with a hug because it didn't take a genius to put two and two together in that book. This had gone from a by-the-books blind date into something actually memorable in a real hurry, and May was practically on the moon with how happy she was, bouncing and asking about if they had a wetsuit in her size and all kinds of stuff.-

[Well, this is not the reaction he was expecting. Then again, she really wanted to swim with the dolphins for so long. At least he didn't fall down when May gave him a hug.]

I think so. And don't worry about it, you can say it's a present from me.

[If she's done hugging the college professor, his friends then escorted her to be changed into the park's wetsuit and helped her swim into the pool and interacts with the dolphins. And judging by their behavior, they seemed to take a liking on her.]

[me_matey]

-If nothing else, May was completely at home in a wetsuit and in the water, swimming with grace and ease and greeting her new friends with a big smile.-

You know, I live out in the water, too! On a boat, but, hey... semantics, right?

[As he watches her swimming with the dolphins, Augustine just smiles at the fact she's living the dream. When he learned that she lived on a boat, he can guess why she wants to swim with them so bad. Heck, the dolphins liked her so much that one of them kissed her on a check. Talk about a deja-vu!

After a few minutes of swimming, the trainers then escorted her out of the pool for her to dry off with a towel as Augustine waits for her to change back to her normal outfit.]

[me_matey]

-Her smile hadn't faded one bit by the time she came back out, her hair still damp and the jacket now wrapped at her waist. She gave him another hug when close enough, and a rewarding kiss to his cheek. Not quite first base, but he'd earned it, probably more. At the very least, he had her gratitude.-

I can't thank you enough. That was amazing!

[And he gladly accepted those rewards. He not only wanted her to live out her dream but also to make this an interesting date.]

I can say the same with you and those dolphins. I think they are starting to get attached to you.

[To prove this, he points at the dolphins as they happily cried to May.]

[me_matey]

-May waved right back.- Thanks, guys! Let's do it again, sometime!

-She'd definitely have to focus on getting a chance to do this again. Never had something felt more right... It felt a little weird, actually. But she didn't pay too much thought to it as she turned her attention back to her date.-

Well... Where to next, right?

They should have a new exhibition on different types of sharks and fishes. I need to see it since my colleague did mention the size of the shark he saw.

[That and he wants to study more about them for his upcoming lecture next week.]
