WHAT: The log for the blind dates event! Awkward dates and disasters within.
WARNINGS: None!

It’s finally the fated day: Valentine’s.

Some of Recolle’s citizens might be going out, spending the day with their loved ones, while others might be sitting in bars, crying into their drinks. For a number of “lucky” ones, they might have gotten dragged into a blind date!

The Narukami twins have done their jobs. All the matches have been released. Partners have been assigned. Messages have been sent out. Now all that needs to happen are the actual dates. So, run free, everyone. The entire city is there to be their playground. They can go on their own respective dates, join up with other couples, spy on others, sabotage some, anything is fair game. After all, it’s not really fun if someone’s not crashing on another person’s party, right?

CUPID'S (?) TABLE

[ Thanks to an uneven number of matches, it turns out that Yu will be manning this table alone. He’s all set up in Recolle Square with a table decorated obnoxiously with pink, doilies, paper hearts, and even balloons. It’s quite a spectacle. As promised by their network post (and after talking Souji down on the matter more than once), Yu is dressed appropriately for the holiday, wings and little bow and all.

On the table, in addition to all the garish decorations, there’s cupcakes, candy, and a little sign that says "Cupid’s Booth Is OPEN."

Well. Whatever that means, feel free to come talk to him! He’ll be providing sage advice, goodies, or suggestions on where to take your date.

Approach, and he’ll politely bow his head and say: ]

[She shrugs off the canvas bag from her shoulder and plunks a giant thermos down in front of him, as well as two packs of hand warmers.] For you and Souji-kun, so you don't freeze to death. [Never mind that she looks like she might too, with that skirt.] Wait-- where is Souji-kun?

DANTE & EVIE

[In spite of his attitude, Dante's actually pretty reliable when it comes to showing up on time. While maybe sauntering in three or four minutes late would suit the persona he's been cultivating better, years of scheduled life has ingrained certain habits in him, one of which being if you're looking to make a good impression, don't be late.

So he's waiting for Evie in the square just prior to 5:00, dressed for the occasion and his hair pulled back in a low ponytail--after all, even if he hadn't signed up for this sham of a matchmaking quest, he couldn't leave a lady stood up on Valentine's Day, right?

While he waits for someone resembling her profile picture to enter the square, he's checking up on the Retrospec network on his phone. He's still not sure what he thinks about all this hallucination/memory business... but there's no denying it's certainly making things interesting.

Ah. Dante slips his phone back into his pocket when he sees her, pushing off from the building he's been leaning against to head in Evie's direction.]

Let me guess--Evie? I'm Dante. What restaurant did you pick out for our date tonight?

Yu just leans back slightly as he has a phone shoved into his face, then blinks up into the face of the angry party in question. ]

You didn't volunteer?

Hi, senpai. [ Minako, at least, gets a little smile. Her outfit's cute! Yu can appreciate that she's getting as into the spirit of the holiday as he and his brother are. ]

Actually, it's been sort of quiet so far. Hopefully we'll get a few more visitors throughout the day. [ His smile widens a little as he picks up one of the packs of hand warmers. ] It's kind of you to think of us like this, though. As for Souji...

[ Yu tilts his head, his smile taking on a sort of mysterious cast. ]

He's busy. He should be coming by when he's got a moment, though.

ARDYN & SAKUYA

[It’s a earlier in the day, out when the sun is still shining high overhead. Ardyn’s already at Recolle Square, adjusting the brim of his hat as he leafs through the little booklet of (quite hilarious) pick-up lines that his nephews had been so kind to prepare for everyone.

He waits patiently for his “date” to arrive, only lifting his gaze when someone purposefully draws near, his attention taken by the sound of footsteps on the pavement. His greeting isn’t the usual hello, how are you this lovely day, but he instead takes advantage of one the terrible lines in his new book.]

“Feel my shirt. Do you know what it’s made of? Boyfriend material.”

[it’s so bad it’s good i’m sorry Sakuya this is the man you’re stuck with today??

But, you know, at least Ardyn has made an effort. He’s dressed a little sharper than usual (which is saying a lot, since he usually kind of dresses like a hipster hobo) with his usually free-flowing hair kept tied back neatly today. Even if it’s not a serious date, one must make a small effort, after all.]

RYOGA AND VELLA

Ryoga didn't have much faith in his being able to come up with amazing original date ideas, and so he'd picked the most innocuous-seeming itinerary possible: a feature film.

Which meant that he'd made plans a week in advance to arrive at the theater at 2:00. He pushed his weary way through the double doors and looked up at the marquee. "Spaceship Troopers", "Mssr. Mysterio", "A Dog's Life"? Well, hopefully there'd be something here that they could both agree on.

Peridot & Chloe

Chloe had made her appearance over at Minako's baking party and arrived with a small box of truffles to the restaurant. She was in a nice, simple black dress and black hose, nothing too fancy but at least pleasant looking. She had actually called her girlfriend already. A six hour time difference was a significant thing, after all, so she'd called her right after work and face-timed for an hour or so. It had put her in a much better mood, especially since the delivery had arrived on time.

So, despite still being really nervous about this, unsure if Peridot could be sane for the duration of this, she decided to make good on whoever had signed her up and not kick their fannies for this. Besides, maybe a kaiju film would be fun? For now, though, she was just inside the restaurant door, a pink rose instead of a red one in her hands along with the box of truffles, looking around for the blonde nutjob she was certain would blow herself to kingdom come at some point.

[So, this was the booth, was it? Chloe had seen the message but been busy enough not to message them. She decided, though, when she had a few minutes between work, face-time, Minako's event and her 'date,' to stop by. It was already a busy day as it stood, but she wanted to ... thank them.

Slipping up, she gave a rueful smirk over at Yu.]

So... you are the one responsible, no?

My brother and I, yeah. [ he'll offer a small smile ] Are you having a good time?

This remains to be seen. Miss Peridot and I will be meeting this evening, after I have called my girlfriend. It would seem that someone signed me up for this.

[Her lips were quirked in a bemused smirk, despite the fact that what she had just said might have been a warning signal. She looked at him quietly, allowing herself a thin laugh. She couldn't really be mad, though. How many times had she been setting people up, particularly Emilie?]

You would not happen to know who is responsible for signing me up, would you? I should wish to thank them... properly.

[ Ah, well. His eyebrows will vanish beneath the fringe of his hair as he looks up at her. ]

So you didn't sign up, either?

[ A hum. ]

You're not the first person who's told me that. We just made matches for all the names that were submitted to us. I think some of them might have been errors. Or, well... [ Yu tilts his head, and his smile returns, faint and playful. ] Someone felt like helping.

[ At the very least, he'll end up looking concerned for her. ] If it's a problem, we can let your date know there was a mistake.

Heh, I have one or two friends who may have signed me up without asking, as payback for trying to set them up on dates. [She gave him a rueful grin.] It would simply be a good chance for what the Americans call... payback?

[She chuckled and made a dismissive hand motion afterwards. She certainly wasn't offended. It wasn't as if she and her girlfriend couldn't go on friendly dates. She just knew better than to mention them. The French, herself especially, were known for their jealousy.]

No, no. Don't worry about it. Miss Peridot and I will be seeing a giant monster film. Something friendly, and that I imagine she will like. Hopefully she will not blow up the theater.

[It's that time again, where love is in the air. Thankfully for him, he joined the blind dating event that was organized by the twins he met on Retrospec and right now, he's in the Recolle Square wearing a semi-fancy outfit as he waits for his blind date partner to arrive.

According to the text message from the twins yesterday, he was paired up with a woman named "May" and judging by the profile picture of her Retrospec profile, he noticed that she might be a little tomboyish and an energetic girl.

Regardless of her attire, though, he can't wait to meet her in person. But the question is where is she right now?]

Vella has not been on a date since... well, ever, actually. And it also happened to be with a boy she had previously called a "dumbass". So she's already approaching it at a bit of a disadvantage.

But Vella wasn't one to leave anyone hanging or a challenge. So she's at the theater in a flowery pink dress, with a little box of cupcakes in her hands. They were leftovers from the shop's Valentines Day sale, but she did technically make them. So that'll hopefully go over well.

"Uh, hi. Again. You." Great start so far.

[As promised, Chuuya's waiting outside the restaurant by 6:30, a bottle of champagne tucked into the crook of one arm as he pokes idly at his phone with his free hand. Maybe getting a good spot with as little notice as he had was a bit of a rush job, but the important thing is that he's managed; the fact that it's run by friends of the family helps, as well as it being connected to the bar he runs.

Honestly, he's probably picking up a couple shifts later this week in exchange for the reservation, but like hell he's going to tell Yuuri that. It'll be less embarrassing to just-- pretend he has connections.

He's keeping an eye out for anyone who looks like the guy's profile photo, maybe looks a little lost-- and when he spots someone he's pretty sure is the right person, he tucks his phone away and shifts from where he's been leaning against the wall to approach, a little grin on his face.]

So, you must be Mr. Katsuki, right? Hope you didn't have any trouble finding the place.

[Originally she wondered if she ought to arrive an hour early, then maybe thirty minutes early, and finally decided five minutes would be just enough. Or it would be for most people. Then again if she arrived that early she'd spend most of her time looking about or on her phone, giving the impression that she had been stood up, not that she was incredibly prepared.

So, she arrives only slightly early, expecting she'll have to wait some time for her date to arrive. When he approaches her, she's slightly surprised, though she only offers him a curt smile. She's dressed mostly in black: leather jacket, boots, pants, and finally a sort of splash of color with her burgundy blouse.]

Al Mare. It's Italian and about a five minute walk from here. It's a pleasure to meet you, by the way, even if the circumstances are rather absurd.

"Yes. Hello." Ryoga handed her his gift -- a stuffed bear with a red ribbon around its neck, which was cute but not so huge that it would attract undue attention. That seemed like it would be... awkward. Er.

"I bought this for you. I hope you like bears." What if she didn't like bears, though. What if one mauled her family.

"Did you want to see anything in particular? It's my treat."

"Oh, thanks! Yeah, bears are really cute." And awesome. It'd be so cool if she was in the woods and had to fight a bear, she'd be a legend.

She struggles for a minute figuring out how to hold both a bear and a box of cupcakes. She eventually tucks the box under an arm, while trying to look appropriately grateful when she picks up the bear. Then she has to switch it so the bear is under her arm and she can hand him the box. "I made these for you too. I hope they aren't too sweet."

What's a good movie to watch on a date... Racing and Raging 7 maybe? "I don't see a lot of movies, do you have a preference?"

"Oh... thank you." Well, if there was one thing Ryoga really appreciated, it was homemade treats. He took them carefully under his arm. Weird; he'd sort of expected her to come with a knife or something. And even if they were too sweet, it was basically his job to eat them anyway.

"When I'm by myself, I usually watch kung-fu movies. I especially like the ones where the actors do their own stunts. I heard that Mssr. Mysterio was enjoyable, if you like superheroes."

I mean. She did come with a knife, but that's neither here nor there.

"I like some good action." There's a pause. "Movies, I mean. Not, uh, the other thing."

She does like fights, but that's probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you say "action" on a date.

[She would like to think she showed up early, but she sees him in the distance, and double-checks her watch. Well, look at that, she was beaten. She'll concede this victory for the moment.

Except, he's not looking at her. He seems to be holding a booklet in his hand, and then...

Good god, Ardyn. It's so bad it's funny, at least, and she laughs so hard she actually has to compose herself and center after a moment. If nothing else, she has a good sense of humor.

She's mostly casual - nice blouse, nice pair of jeans since they said something about riding chocobos, slightly more comfortable shoes. She knows what he looks like from his profile pictures, but the cleanup isn't quite as dramatic since she barely knows what he looks like normally.

So... laughing it is, instead.

She's holding a tray, though, with two paper cups full of hot liquid that she motions toward the booth with. She promised to bring hot chocolate for the twins, and she has it.]

So what is 'boyfriend' material? Cotton? Light and flexible, multi-utility... but bad for protection and not very warm? [Apparently she does have a little bit of reverse-humor, too, and she smirks as she walks toward the booth.]

-Tomboyish was probably the most generous way of putting it. The fact that she was wearing worn jeans with holes at the knees and a throwback baseball jersey, and a ragged looking leather jacket on top of that, probably spoke volumes about how she tended to prepare for "nights out". At least she sore her hair down, but the worn out, faded orange beanie wasn't doing her many favors.

Though not that he'd notice any of that at first. May purposefully made sure to spot him out of the crowd before she approached, and did so from behind, hoping to get the jump on the guy. Because why not? What better way to start a blind date than with a little excitement? She could have lifted his wallet, too, but he needed that to pay for said date, so she'd leave it be... For now.

Two hands clasped his shoulders from behind, a loud shout accompanying them.-

'SUP, ROMEO! -You only got one chance at a first impression, they say. May decided this would be hers, smiling bright for when he turned around.-

[First impressions are everything, yet the tomboyish girl might have overdone it. As she jumped behind him and greeted, Augustine quickly jumped and screamed in shock before he turned around and sees the girl in a ragged-looking leather jacket and worn jeans.

While this is not what his beautiful blind date partner supposed to be, he just shrugs it off as close choice considering he doesn't care about their attire or appearances after all. Besides, she really made a strong entrance, perhaps a little too strong.]

My goodness... I was about to get a heart attack after that...
