TEAM ONE EVENT LOG
READY: START. Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare. ![]() Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team One is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Location Travel | Threading for Object OneObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

So, getting your sea legs yet?

[ nazuna's only a little green, but he's definitely leaning over the edge of the boat, looking at the water in an effort to try and stave off the urge to puke. ] Were you a fisherman before, or something...?
no subject
Nope, I've never been on a boat before. I guess I'm just lucky. I have pretty good balance and I think that's part of it. Do you think it'd help if you sat down?
[ Not that there are a lot of good places for it, the boat's not exactly huge, but it's got to be better than watching the waves. ]
no subject
he flashes mao a smile, still optimistic even if he's kinda green. ] I think I'd do anything, at this point. Thanks, Maochin.
[ the boat rocks, and nazuna wobbles again, starting to make his way towards a bare patch of boat to sit on or...something. rip. ]
no subject
I think if we can get closer to the middle of the boat it might help. Like a seesaw, the edges more move than the middle.
[ Mao stays with him, a hand hovering near Nazuna's elbow right up until he sits down. Mao joins him, quiet for a long moment. ]
So, did Sena tell you anything about what it was like the last time something like this happened?
no subject
at his question, though, he brings a hand to his chin, thinking. ] A little. I heard it was bad, but that's it...
no subject
He sighs, his own thoughtful, and nods. ]
I can already say that this time is better, since we can still all communicate with each other, but last time we all got powers, too. I could make concrete, which was weird and not super helpful, but Sena had bombs.
[ He pauses to let that sink in. Mizukizumi Sena. With bombs. ]
no subject
[ nazuna's entire life deadass flashes before his eyes imagining that so... sinking in time was definitely necessary. ]
no subject
no subject
deep breaths, niichan. he scrubs his face for a minute, trying to keep the slur down to a minimum. ] At least he helped you, but... let's hope we don't have to deal with anything like that wherever we're going, jeez!
no subject
Well, I don't have any powers yet other than the-- [ Wait, what if not everyone has the same partner link he and Izumi do? Whoops. ] Uh, the stone I got, but I think everyone has one of those and it's not even really a power. Maybe if anybody here does end up with bombs, we can just make a pact to not use them.
no subject
That sounds good to me, Maochin. I hope it won't be that dangerous... [ he glances back out towards the water, as if he could see whatever strange place they were going. ] They...do know we're normal people, right?
no subject
[ Mao kind of regrets not taking Sena's advice about self-defense right now, if not for his own sake then for the sake of his friends and people who really cannot defend themselves. It's too late now but food for thought when he gets back. ]
Are you feeling any better, Nazuna?
no subject
So what is there to do? Lie back on the deck and look up at the sky, of course! But as Mao looks over at him, he sits up and offers a smile.]
You make it sound like we're going to be on this boat forever! [Not that he has any idea how long this trip will take.] Aren't you getting bored of just looking out into the water?
no subject
We might be. Who knows where we're going? And you'd think I would be but it's really relaxing. It's keeping me from thinking about too much other stuff.
[ Images of the ocean maw and the ships falling from the sky might come across their new telepathic connection if Izumi's paying attention to it, but Mao just shakes his head. He's trying not to think about that, what the heck. ]
no subject
You don't think this will take days or anything, do you? Laying on the deck is nice, but I don't want to sleep out here overnight!
[But just as he pulls himself up to his feet, intending to look out into the ocean with Mao, the images that flood into his mind only serve to make him think of other unpleasant things. The boat sinking Titanic style or catching fire.... and himself drowning, since he can't swim.]
....I think I need to take your advice. I keep thinking of weird things. Weirder things than usual.
no subject
Probably not. I think if it was going to take that long they'd have some way to just transport us there. Retrospec is really powerful for all that it seems to be a mess most of the time.
[ He might be taking his life in his hands saying that but they did just get an admission from the company that they can't fix what's wrong, so it seems fair.
Mao blinks when he sees Izumi's thoughts then tilts his head. ]
You want a life jacket? It's neon yellow but if it helps you not worry so much...
no subject
[Now that Izumi's standing upright, the wind keeps whipping his hair around, and concentrating on taking a hair tie from his pocket and pulling it back keeps him from overthinking everything else.]
Thanks, but I'll be okay. I'm sure someone would try to help me if I fell overboard, so I'll try not to worry.
[But at the same time, where are they even headed....]
Maybe they're taking us to a beach resort!
no subject
[ Has to get worse before it gets better or something like that. Mao watches him fussing with his hair and clucks his tongue at the mention of falling overboard. ]
Of course I would but I'd rather not have to, you know? But if talking about it is making you anxious--
[ And at Izumi's cheerful guess, Mao just tilts his head. ]
I don't think they've been secretly testing us all this time just to give us a vacation. It'd be nice, though, we deserve one.
no subject
[He hums just a little, taking a deep breath of the salty air. There's really no telling where they're going, much less why, but there's nothing they can do for the time being aside from wait and enjoy the ride.]
Yeah, I doubt it too. But wouldn't be fun to go somewhere like that? It may be February, but I could go for a beach trip!
no subject
[ That seems about right for a superpower Mao would get, really, but if Izumi's right then he doesn't want to make it worse so Mao takes a deep breath of his own and laughs. ]
February's the best time for it, it's the worst part of winter because there aren't even any big holidays to get you through it, so why not take a vacation? Even if it's somewhere nicer, though, this is going to be a working vacation for sure. Just our luck for passing this mystery test we didn't even know we were taking.
no subject
[Naturally, he can't help but laugh right along. It's much more freeing to laugh instead of worry, and it isn't hard to get to a point of smiling when there honestly isn't too much to be anxious about.]
I bet we'll at least be on the water somewhere, if we're traveling by boat! [Still smiling, he walks a few feet forward to the bow and stretches his arms out Titanic style. What else are you supposed to do on a boat?] All I can do is draw, so if they're making us do anything harder than that, I'm probably screwed. Can't you magically send me some of your "jack of all trades" skills for a day or two?
no subject
I'm not gonna just randomly have dirty thoughts, you know. Now I wonder what your mind is like over there.
[ As if he didn't know well enough already just what Izumi's mind was like. He watches him for a second, then realizes what's happening and follows him forward, hovering just a little. That's so dangerous, thanks for this Hollywood, please don't make his best friend drown??
Then he tries to clamp that down because that's embarrassing. ]
Probably, otherwise it wouldn't make sense, though I do wonder why they didn't just teleport us there. Maybe it uses too much energy. And if I did that then I'd be useless, I can't even draw!
no subject
[Though now he's likewise in the DON'T THINK DIRTY THOUGHTS, DON'T YOU DARE DO IT boat (ha), and hums to keep himself focused on what they're talking about.]
I mean, they could have teleported us, but then we wouldn't have gotten to be on a boat! [Grinning broadly, he turns his head to Mao.] You aren't going to play Titanic with me? Come on, you might never get this chance again!
no subject
So we just shouldn't think about things we don't want each other to know about? That's like telling someone on a ladder not to look down...
[ Doomed, but that's Retrospec for you. When he sees Izumi's smile, though, he can't resist moving a little further forward, at least until his hands are on the railing. ]
Don't you remember what happened to the Titanic? [ It's said with a little smile of his own, though. ] So does this make you the king of the world?
