TEAM ONE EVENT LOG
READY: START. Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare. ![]() Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team One is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Location Travel | Threading for Object OneObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

[Naturally, he can't help but laugh right along. It's much more freeing to laugh instead of worry, and it isn't hard to get to a point of smiling when there honestly isn't too much to be anxious about.]
I bet we'll at least be on the water somewhere, if we're traveling by boat! [Still smiling, he walks a few feet forward to the bow and stretches his arms out Titanic style. What else are you supposed to do on a boat?] All I can do is draw, so if they're making us do anything harder than that, I'm probably screwed. Can't you magically send me some of your "jack of all trades" skills for a day or two?
no subject
I'm not gonna just randomly have dirty thoughts, you know. Now I wonder what your mind is like over there.
[ As if he didn't know well enough already just what Izumi's mind was like. He watches him for a second, then realizes what's happening and follows him forward, hovering just a little. That's so dangerous, thanks for this Hollywood, please don't make his best friend drown??
Then he tries to clamp that down because that's embarrassing. ]
Probably, otherwise it wouldn't make sense, though I do wonder why they didn't just teleport us there. Maybe it uses too much energy. And if I did that then I'd be useless, I can't even draw!
no subject
[Though now he's likewise in the DON'T THINK DIRTY THOUGHTS, DON'T YOU DARE DO IT boat (ha), and hums to keep himself focused on what they're talking about.]
I mean, they could have teleported us, but then we wouldn't have gotten to be on a boat! [Grinning broadly, he turns his head to Mao.] You aren't going to play Titanic with me? Come on, you might never get this chance again!
no subject
So we just shouldn't think about things we don't want each other to know about? That's like telling someone on a ladder not to look down...
[ Doomed, but that's Retrospec for you. When he sees Izumi's smile, though, he can't resist moving a little further forward, at least until his hands are on the railing. ]
Don't you remember what happened to the Titanic? [ It's said with a little smile of his own, though. ] So does this make you the king of the world?
no subject
[Come on, Mao, that's totally not what he means.]
We still have tons of time before we hit the iceberg! [Said like this is something in their future. They're definitely not anywhere near iceberg territory, not to mention that it's still the early morning.] I'm absolutely the king of the world. Come on, put your arms out with me!
[HE'S WAITING! Neeeeear, faaaaaar....]
You can totally sing like Celine Deon. [Hit those high notes, Mao.]
no subject
[ At least if something weird does get across, it's to someone he trusts to only embarrass him about it in private. He snorts a soft laugh out at the suggestion of an iceberg then gets one foot at least up onto the railing. ]
If you're the king of the world then doesn't that mean you're the one who drowns? And that's not happening.
[ Mao looks over at how Izumi's standing and lifts himself up onto the railing the same way. ]
Can't believe I'm letting you talk me into this...
[ Mao is a liaaaaaaaaaar and Izumi might be able to tell from the excitement he tries to hide as he lifts his arms out. The boat's not exactly screaming along but it's going fast enough to make his hoodie puff out a little. ]
I'm only going to sing if you sing too. I'm supposed to be in an idol unit, I don't sing alone.
no subject
Neither of us are drowning, if I have anything to say about it! I'll paddle my way to shore with you in tow!
[Rich, coming from someone who can't swim. He only laughs as Mao joins him on the railing, grinning broadly. This boat obviously isn't anywhere near the size of the Titanic, but there's a bow, and that's more than enough of a reason to mess around like losers.]
Come on, you're smiling way too much to not be enjoying this! [And so is he, arms spread wide. If one of them falls, Mao's going back first, since Izumi's in the front. Perks of being Rose, apparently.] Whaaaat? I'm not a singer, though! ....Fine, but you have to start.
no subject
I think you've got it backwards about who'd be towing who here but I'd love to see you try.
[ Mao's not the strongest swimmer ever but he's pretty sure he'd be able to beat Izumi. He rolls his eyes but stops trying to pretend he's not having fun, starting to lift his arms even higher. It's not movie accurate but it feels good. ]
... Fine. [ Cue one deep breath and half-assed glance over his shoulder to make sure no one's around, and-- ]
Near, far, whereeeeeeeever you, I believe that the heart does go ooooooooon...
no subject
But listen, even though they're singing this cheesy love song on the bow of a boat, Izumi can't help but laugh and sing along in a quieter and.... very average voice. Average is better than terrible, though, and he's always enjoyed Mao's singing.]
Yooooou're heeeeere, there's noooooothing I fear....! [That isn't the next lyric, but OH WELL. He's stretching his arms up all the same, mirroring Mao and trying not to laugh (or lean back too much) while they sing.]
no subject
Mao glances over and absolutely beams when he hears Izumi singing along. Sure, it's softer than his own, but it's enough that he's there. The change in the lyrics trips him up a little but then he's right back into it with a laugh, singing as if there were a full audience in front of the boat. This is the more fun climax of the song anyway! ]
And I knooooooow that my heart will go ooooooooon...
no subject
It's nice to just be losers like this every once in a while.]
Weeeeeee'll staaaaaaaay, foreeeeeever this waaaaaaay....
no subject
Even without knowing what's coming on the other shore when this boat reaches its destination, he can relax and enjoy this. ]
You are saaaaaafe in my heart and--
no subject
Even if there are other people on the boat, he's comfortable like this. It's freeing.]
My heart will go on and oooooooon~
[No, he can't help it. He's breaking into giggles now.]
Is this the part where I say "I'm flying"?
no subject
Mao's about to start whistling the tin whistle part when he hears Izumi laughing so he stop and nods very seriously. ]
Of course! Do you need me to come hold your arms out or are you good?
no subject
[They're already up on the railing, even if they're not in any real danger of actually falling off. Still, Izumi leans back just a little against Mao, flapping his arms for effect.]
Come on! Aren't you supposed to be wooing me?
no subject
Supposed to be what now? I can try but I'm not nearly as cute as your memory girlfriend so it might be a lost cause.
no subject
[Mao's great enough that Izumi doesn't need any wooing! It's the truth, and he believes every word of it, but he probably shouldn't be saying things like that when they could easily conjure up thoughts he'd rather die than have Mao see.
So it's back to Titanic.]
I'm flying, Mao!
no subject
[ Yes, they are. He wants to grumble that Izumi doesn't know what he's talking about but really if anybody was going to know something like that about Mao, it'd be him, so Mao just rolls his eyes.
Rolls his eyes then leans in and puts his chin on Izumi's shoulder. That's what Leo does, right? He's not doing the whole intertwining fingers thing but this isn't so bad and he can just see Izumi's face and how much he's enjoying himself, which is an added benefit even if his best friend is dumb and thinks Mao is way cooler than he really is.
Dumb. ]
no subject
[It's honestly really charming to see Mao lose a little bit of his cool, and Izumi starts to giggle once more.... but then he feels a weight on his shoulder and turns to look at Mao, which is a bad idea, given that their faces are somehow way closer than he was expecting.
Don't think about kissing, don't think about kissing. It's the movie's fault for instilling the thought in him!]
no subject
We have to be able to change stuff anyway because neither of us is dying. So you're the artist and I'm the not pretty not rich, uh, not girl.
[ True to the way the connection works, all the things Izumi's trying not to think about come across loud and clear, so nobody's dying in the water but Mao's still dying a bit. So much for his attempt to not think about how that scene ended in the movie. He feels a little warm and certainly surprised knowing that's the first thing that apparently came to Izumi's mind when he looked over, but it also reminds him of the moment at the bottom of the stairs, kind of delicate.
His surprise probably gets through and he knows it, so to counteract it he momentarily tightens his arms around Izumi. He's surprised and embarrassed, sure, but not upset? Mao has no idea if that's how it goes across but he's hoping.
Just in case, though, in a playfully feminine voice--]
I'll never let go, Jack~!
no subject
Honestly, his gut reaction is along the lines of "I wouldn't mind drowning right now," but he's quickly able to get that out of his head after reminding himself that Mao (understandably) hates it when he even jokes about things like that. Instead, it's replaced with a whole string of "stupid, stupid!" and embarrassment, much to his chagrin. But before Izumi can wallow in it too much, Mao's arms tighten around his waist and he yelps just a bit.]
That's the wrong scene, Mao-- Rose!
no subject
You're right, I skipped like two thirds of the movie, huh? [ He sighs and lets go of Izumi, even if he does keep his hands nearby in case his friend gets unsteady. ]
You wanna go see if this boat even has a third class deck?
no subject
If you're trying to convince me, you have to try harder than that!
[But as Mao lets go of him, Izumi steps down from the railing and lets his arms fall back to his sides.]
....Sorry. [And that's all he'll say about that, hoping he doesn't falter before mustering up a smile.] Alright, let's go exploring!
no subject
Don't even. [ No apologies here. If they're going to be connected like this for the next who knows how long, Mao doesn't want that hanging there. ]
Now, lead the way!
