READY: START. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare. Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. Yes, let's send the guy who we made remember nearly drowning on a trip across the ocean... that sounds reasonable...

[ Still, he's curious enough to follow this lead in the hopes of more info... he's just going to make sure to throw on a lifejacket first. Better safe than sorry. ]

[ Astin on the other hand seems downright cheery. They give Junpei a friendly pat on the shoulder as the boat rocks with the rise and fall of the waves. ]

Aw, it won't be that bad. I mean... We'll save you if you fall in!

[Rather than comment on the person's lament, Snake immediately focuses on the voice. He knows this voice! Specifically, he knows it because there was a memory of someone he recalls that sounds like this person.]

Let's make this day better, shall we, Junpei? Because that is definitely another officer coming down the pier behind him. Togusa hesitates, eyebrows raise in recognition. "Ah-" takes him a second, "Tenmyouji."

Togusa hasn't worked directly with the man, he was too new to be on their assignment in October. Which is a good thing. He offers a hand and nods his head in a slight automatic bow. "How are you doing?"

[Peter's eyes light with realization when he sees someone putting on a lifejacket.]

Of course! Proper safety is for everyone to wear a lifejacket.

[He quickly reaches for one for himself. Thankfully a lifejacket doesn't have too many failure points. The material is hard to crush, and he just has to slip his arms through the holes, once he finds a sufficiently wide jacket for his body. ]

No. No. I'm not going. You can't make me. You can't. This is cruel and ununusual punishment. This is...this is the worst thing you can make me do.

[There's a man, extremely slender, with long dark hair strewn around him, lying on the ground in front of the fishing boats.]

[He's an adult.]

[He is clearly having his equivalent of a temper tantrum.]

I'm not doing it. I'm staying...right here. Right here. I'm not going anywhere.

[He's shaking his head, his unnaturally purple eyes wide. Is this hell? Is this hell he's walking into?]

Howard-san...?

[Atsushi, bless his soul, is very confused and concerned about this entire ordeal, but apparently there’s at least one person handling it worse than him.

Atsushi walks up to Howard and gazes down at him through a curtain of oddly cut hair.]

Um. Is something wrong? Are you afraid of the water?

[ odasaku never thought that howard would act like this. he's always known that the man's a bit strange but...to the point of laying down on the ground...

of course oda would be lucky enough to have to go through this. of course. holding back a sigh, he kneels down, hesitantly placing a hand on howard's shoulder. he'd feel like a terrible partner if he didn't even know what was wrong with him. ]

Why don't you wanna go?

[Mrs. Brisby wasn't sure what the plan exactly was, other than the fact that they were meeting at a beach - it was honestly a pretty good time to make some of the leftovers in the fridge into snacks, so she's come with a large beach bag. Aside from a towel and a change of clothes (in case she just so happened to need to get wet, she didn't want the car ride home to be a sandy wet mess), her bag has a decent number of water bottles and chicken salad wraps. She's got the bag open, though the tone of the mission is definitely a lot more different than she expected it'd be.] Well, it's no relaxing vacation, but there's no point in wasting these. Would you like a wrap? [She's just going ahead and offering it - some of the more seasick companions might appreciate the water bottles instead.]

No thanks. ...Are they really good?

[Shinji, being a very mature and self-sufficient eight-year-old, does not need random teammates to feed him. He is totally fine with just the one water bottle he grabbed from the fridge.

...the chicken salad wraps look pretty good, though.]

[pronounces]

[ the beach bag is kind of adorably charming, and nazuna ends up smiling at the offer of a wrap. he's got his own bag slung over his shoulder, with water and a couple of other things, but he hadn't thought to bring big snacks.

he clasps his hands together, delighted. ] I'd love one!

Well, it is free food. And given he mostly looks like a plain, scruffy college student decked out in the cheapest, yet still warm clothes right now...]

[He'll hold a hand out. Gimme.]

[Oh...well, that’s rather generous! Atsushi takes the wrap and a water bottle with a warm smile.]

Thank you! I don’t think we’ve met before, Miss...?

[steadycourse]

[Ishida turns to look at Mrs. Brisby, a little surprised to be offered food all so suddenly. But before he can decline her offer, he feels his stomach growl-- and the student flushes in slight embarrassment. Guess he didn't realize how hungry he actually is!]

Erm... if you are truly offering!

[It would be impolite to decline her food without thought.]

Really? Thank you.

[He's not going to say no if someone's offering him food. Especially to fortify himself on whatever adventure they're about to take.]

[ Astolfo beams. Someone brought food? This is already going better than he expected. Swaddled in a life-jacket, Astin reaches out to take the offered wrap with a grin. ]

Sweet! Thank you! This looks so delicious...

[ Without waiting any longer, Astin digs into the wrap with a voracious appetite. Seasick? Them? Nah. Astin speaks around a mouthful of wrap. ]

I'm Astin.

[Theo's here as... well, Theo. Mussed brown hair that looks like he hadn't even bothered to run a comb through it before leaving, and an inexpensive but warm coat and gloves.

Good thing, too. The wind chill on the boat is terrible.]

The sooner this is over with, the better...

[He did at least bring his schoolbag with him, though it's not full of textbooks. Nope, this time he thought to bring a few supplies; change of clothes, flashlight, pocket knife, little necessities in case monsters really do turn out to be a thing again.]

Theo!

[And here comes Atsushi, a messenger bag slung over his shoulder filled with a change of clothes, dried fruit, homemade cookies, and a Swiss Army knife. He doesn’t really know much about what they’ll be doing, but he’s roughed it in the past, so he thinks he’ll make it alright.

He stops right in front of Theo, bowing slightly. He’s wearing black jeans, a black and white striped sweater, and red converses. Stylish! He smiles, tucking a strand of black, oddly cut hair behind his ear.]

Um...I guess we’re partners! So uh...let’s do our best!

[pronounces]

[ there's somebody on the beach who looks...familiar, somehow, though nazuna can't exactly put his finger on why. he's recognized enough faces out here that it shouldn't be that strange, but... well, nazuna's not shy (or at least he isn't anymore).

so, he'll just walk right up to theo, plenty cheerful, glancing up over him quickly, and offering him his best, brightest nazuna nito is your niichan smile. ] You came prepared too, huh? Thoughtful ~

[ Mao has zero experience with boats but seasickness isn't even on his mind. Instead, he's leaning on the railing and looking out all around them. It's almost like whiplash, going from literally no sky or distance to the limitless horizon of the ocean, but at the same time there's something calming about it. About half an hour into water watching, though, he's starting to get restless. Hopefully you're not feeling too seasick to chat. ]

So, getting your sea legs yet?

[pronounces]

Maochin, you're taking this so easily...

[ nazuna's only a little green, but he's definitely leaning over the edge of the boat, looking at the water in an effort to try and stave off the urge to puke. ] Were you a fisherman before, or something...?

[Despite meeting at the beach, Izumi somehow hadn't expected that they'd actually be heading out on a boat. While not prone to motion sickness, he's not very experienced with being out on open water, and a boat this big is definitely new to him.

So what is there to do? Lie back on the deck and look up at the sky, of course! But as Mao looks over at him, he sits up and offers a smile.]

You make it sound like we're going to be on this boat forever! [Not that he has any idea how long this trip will take.] Aren't you getting bored of just looking out into the water?

[While he was still suspicious of their mysterious objective, he can't help but notice the number of people on the beach so far. He still has no idea what their true objective to this mission, but at least he may able to find answers.

However, just as he boards the boat, the fox and the frog begins to run around in the boat trying to chase each other. Again.]

Mon Dieu... Bulle, Feu, you two have to behave. Otherwise, you might burn the whole boat if you don't.

[While the fox stops to listen what Augustine says, the frog ends running around under someone's foot as he chuckles mischievously.]

[Ishida doesn't look like he's having the greatest time on the boat. Honestly, he just wants to lie down somewhere and wait until they reach their destination. But what sort of first impression would he be setting if he did something like that?!

So, loudly and with a forced energy, he declares:]

Stay strong, friends! We'll be reaching our destination shortly!

[It's only been an hour since they've been on this boat.]
