Look, Tatsuo knows he's not dealing with August appropriately. And frankly, he kind of hates himself for dealing with it this way. Like, really hates himself. He knows he should ask for help, but he's never been big on asking for help in the first place. Beecause it's 'working' for now, at least, that's what he tells himself, even though it's like putting a bandaid on a wound that needs stitches.
[ OOC: If you have CR with Tatsuo and would like for your character to run into him at a bar, feel free to whip up a starter. Otherwise, this is a closed log. Also, restricted to characters 21+. Tatsuo does work with police after all. ]
KIRYU (9/4)
no subject
Thanks, Tatsuo. Come in.
[ At least Kiryu seems to be in slightly better spirits now that it's been a day and he's had more chances to talk things through. ]

[Tatsuo heads to the kitchen first, so they can grab spoons if needed or put the ice cream in the freezer if not. Or glasses for the sake. Whichever. Tatsuo's not picky, this is about Kiryu, not him.]
So you got another memory, huh?
no subject
Yeah. I wasn't sure... what to do about it.
[ He kind of holed himself up for a few days before deciding to text him, actually. ]

TOGUSA (9/5)
Tatsuo groans. What now? Too small a package to be a gun, thank god.
Tatsuo ignores it for several minutes while he changes out of his work clothes. He ignores it while he heats up and eats some leftover spaghetti (that he made himself!), then reads a couple articles in one of his science journals that was delivered on Monday. And he ignores it while he watches the latest episode of a show he doesn't actually keep up with.
Finally, four hours later, he can't ignore it anymore.
He rips the envelop open.
Out falls a small black item, about the size of a slim wallet. It looks like a slim wallet, but when he opens it up, his face stares out at him from an idea on one half. On the other half is a shiny police badge.
But what really catches his attention, is the name on the ID. Ryuuzaki Ikuo.]
Well, shit.
[Tatsuo picks up his phone, scrolls through his contacts, and fires off a text to Togusa.]
You busy? I got something interesting in the mail. Meet me at Inkwell? I owe you a drink for the whole desk thing still anyway.
Re: TOGUSA (9/5)
Given the theme of the place, Togusa should end up at the Inkwell more often. He wouldn't have pegged it for Tatsuo's hangout. (But the owner, Koutarou's cousin, falls somewhere in the Five Degrees of Kevin Bacon, doesn't he?)
Togusa tries to look casual when he arrives, raising a hand at Tatsuo. Whatever the 'something interesting' is, Togusa can't see it immediately. So maybe possibly it's not a dismembered body part?
"Tatsuo. How are you doing?"
Re: TOGUSA (9/5)
Well, it's less that it's Tatsuo's hangout and more that he figured the place was more conducive to talking than some of the other bars in town. That, and he'd been treated rather nicely by one of the employees during the scavenger hunt a few months ago. So he has a good opinion of the establishment.
By the time Togusa shows up, Tatsuo has already parked himself at the bar and ordered himself a drink. Americano, nice low ABV. He waves a hand when Togusa spots him.
"I'm alright. Just still trying to wrap my head around some of the stuff from Sunday."

KATHERINE
Problem is... he's also feeling a little lonely. He wants to go do something, anything, but he doesn't want to do it alone. So he scrolls through his contacts, pausing when Katherine's appears. Yeah, she'd get what he'd dealing with tonight. So he fires off a text.]
Hey, there's this 90's revival band playing at a bar downtown tonight. It sounds kind of terrible, but funny at the same time. Want to go?
no subject
She should get help. She should talk to the Lachance man who was also offering counseling. Yet, part of her realy doesn't want to talk about it, though: she's never had a good run with therapists in the past, either having to deal with bullshit or never really trusting them. While Fair sees nice, she still doesn't feel a strong draw the counseling.
Something tells her he also has some baggage on his mind. She doesn't know him as well as...well, there's Magilou, but she's pretty sure he's trustworthy to go drinking with. He is police after all...regardless of how awkward police make her feel. He's also a really nice guy, so there's that.]
Sounds awful.
I'm free.
What time and address?

Hey John! Are you off tonight?

He's been meaning to hang out with John ever since bumping into him last month.
But he knows he's not exactly been good company lately and he doesn't know John well enough yet to even think of burdening him with his problems. So he's pretty relieved that the timing is working out tonight.]

FAI
This time, it's Fai who gets the text.]
You still up for bringing the booze?
cw: brief mention of substance abuse
But knowing that this is stupid doesn't take the edge off the pain. Doesn't make the breakup any easier. Alcohol leaves him happily numb and that's what he's after. So the text from Tatsuo is very, very welcome.]
Of course! Give me half an hour ;)
Re: cw: brief mention of substance abuse
[While he's waiting for Fai, Tatsuo goes to his bathroom to look at his head. Luckily, he didn't cut himself on the edge of the table, but he's probably going to have a goose-egg in the morning. After putting some ice in a ziplock bag, he sits back down on his couch, head leaned back so he can balance the ice on his forehead without having to hold it in place.]

MAJIMA (after 9/5)

Hey. Want to come back to my office?

[Tatsuo is on his second Americano by the time Majima is free. He nods and slides off the barstool, clapping a hand on his friend's shoulder.]

He's nursing his second drink and contemplating how best to politely excuse himself from the situation when he notices something of a familiar face down the bar. Casting a glance at his coworkers, he makes up some excuse that they barely listen to before sliding down the bar to join the other man instead.]
Ah, it's. Tatsuo, isn't it?
soooooo okay
Uh, yes. That's me. Have... we met?

[Remus nods, offering the other man what he hopes is a reassuring smile.]
In a matter of speaking. My name is John. John Lyall. It's good to be able to meet you properly at last.
