Uh, well...I saw Souji and me at this train station somewhere in Japan? I was telling him about moving away from people I knew in the city and how no one ever talked to me after I left but I kept their contact info anyway. Just in case.

[ He cringes a little. ]

When we moved back here from England I put everyone's phone numbers in my American even though I couldn't call them. I think that's...rather normal, really.

I...think so? I don't know why I was there. I was recording, I suppose it was a dairy, I've remembered the other me recording a number of them. But this one...

People thought I was an orphan. Because my Aunt wasn't there, and my mother...might have been dead?

I didn't think so, but I was...probably eight so...who knows.

I'm pretty sure she's not dead though? My...her...mother. I have a memory, I was...older. And she was there.

Exactly! Man, who knows how manufactured these things are anyway? And even if they do mean something more than Retrospec messing with us, just because we see it doesn't mean that's who we are!

[Eleanor smiled.]

Exactly. We don't know if any of this is the least bit real. We can't just assume it is.

So there's no reason to worry too much about it, yeah? Let's face it, Retrospec likes to mess with us however they can. Screw this. Wanna go get lunch?

[Eleanor laughed and stood up, brushing off her pants.]
