[open] [ that picture from the iron giant of the guy yelling ART ]
WHO: Yusuke Kitagawa + OPEN
WHERE: Around Recolle.
WHEN: From 5/3 to 5/12...!
WHAT: Oh just... normal things.
WARNINGS: Excessive use of PAINT.
[ Anyone who runs into Yusuke from the moment he gets his hands on his paintbrush and a paint pot is going to be aware of two distinct things: firstly, that he is an artist and definitely knows what he's doing with the utensils at his disposal. This ain't his first rodeo, that's for sure.
Secondly though, is that Yusuke is painting a lot like a man possessed - he's specifically focused on finding outlines and getting an idea of the layout, despite his well known attention to detail, and just... doesn't seem to be stopping. From the moment he finds his painting tools, he's back tracking to his home and wildly painting the street back into existence.
And this is how he is for the majority of the week. There's a method to his madness though, he's clearly looking for something, and seems to retracing old steps in an attempt to find it. The longer he's at it, the sloppier the paintwork becomes and, quite honestly, the worse for wear Yusuke seems. He only stops when it gets too dark to paint, and returns home, before leaving to begin again early in the morning. Watch him long enough, and you may even catch him swaying on the spot, or heavy lidded, like he's about to fall asleep on his feet.
... Help him? This is just sad. ]

For someone who is running on little sleep and food, Yusuke is very determined. He stops from time to time to rub his eyes, or pinch the bridge of his nose, but keeps truckn' on anyway. ]
no subject
[that's very...methodical of your stalking Akira. But elliot won't really question it right now since it does benefit him. So he'll follow along, until they get sight on their painter friend, who is painting like a man possessed. As Akira takes cover, so does he.
In a quiet voice]
I...dunno? Maybe? Unless you can think of a reason he'd be avoiding us.
[Wait what if he is? Elliot gets an anxious look on his face as he starts overthinking things ]
Th-There isn't one right?
no subject
[ Akira doesn't want to consider that maybe Yusuke would personally avoid them specifically. The numbers are also estimates, but also is his guest that this... Maybe the graveyard? But his sense of direction is not so strong ever since the layer crumbled.
His eyes are glued on Yusuke, as if they're shooting lazers at him. Finally, he decides something and turns to Elliot to present their plan of attack. ]
We'll call out to him. [ LET'S GO. ] Yusuke!
[ Akira is usually soft-spoken, so this is only ever so louder than usual. ]
no subject
Or yell louder.
He is very focused though, and steadily moving further down the road away from them so it's perhaps not much of a surprise that Akira's voice doesn't carry enough to both reach him and pierce through that laser guided focus. ]
no subject
I-I don't think you were loud enough...
[Elliot's pretty soft-spoken himself most of a time, but he was a Craig. A Craig that's taken a lot of voice lessons. So he'll step around the corner, cup his hands around his mouth, take a deep breath, and give Akira a quick warning glance before he yells out like a dang yodeler:]
YUUUUSUKEEEEE!!!! ♪
no subject
Even if their cover is obviously blown, he stays by the corner like all depends on it. ]
no subject
So.
He heard that one. Holy crap, Elliot. For such a little guy you have like seven people's worth of lungspace in there.
Yusuke visibly jolts in surprise, and glances around wildly, trying to find the whoever yelled his name loud enough to be heard clean across Recolle. ... Oh. Hewwo there. ]
I did not realise you were both here. Are you painting this area as well?
[ So sweet. So innocent. So unaware his beloved roommates have been STALKING him. ]
no subject
When he clearly got Yusuke's attention, he'll lower his hands from his mouth and give a rather sheepish wave. He then walks over to Yusuke, gesturing for Akira to get out from that corner and come along]
Y-Yeah, we are. Though we wanted to check on you too...
no subject
We were following you because you haven't been coming home at normal times and eating properly.
[ It's his turn for this. Leave him be, Elliot. ]
no subject
I have been both sleeping and eating at home.
[ He's... back to moving up the road, still painting. But! He knows they are there now, so keeps talking to them. ]
You do not need to be so concerned.
no subject
I don't know, I say it's pretty concerning...
no subject
[ Is this what it's like to have Elliot on your side...? Akira brow furrows a bit, but he isn't fronted by Yusuke's demeanor. It's true that his friend does eat and sleep, but that isn't the point. Yusuke's habits have become erratic, almost consuming him whole, and it's reached the point where Akira can't tolerate it any longer.
He beelines towards him with determination that will never yield. ]
You know we're worried about you.
no subject
But he does know that they're worried. It's coming from a place of care - real and genuine. But he can't stop? If he stops, and then something goes wrong he'll fail to get everything he needs painted. Realistically, it's doable in a reasonable amount of time but... he can't fail. He has to find and paint the graveyard back into existence.
And that involves finding his home, making sure his mother is fine, finding the graveyard and then painting the entire yard until he pinpoints, permanently, his father's grave.
... It's a lot. But, he's never really spoken about his father to other people. It had just been known for so long that talking about it is strange and uncomfortable. Like spending a day in pinched shoes. ]
I have to find something and keep it found by the 12th. I don't have the time to be resting on my laurels.
[ It's simple, but genuine. He really can't just stop. ]
no subject
At least, it does look like they are getting through to Yusuke, so they won't have to play the breaking the denial game this time. Elliot gives a look of concern. that is a very...specific deadline.]
What happens on the 12th?
no subject
It's an anniversary, of sorts.
[ ... He's still painting. Idly. ]
no subject
Oh...
Well, what do you need to find? We'd be happy to help.
no subject
... He has an inkling of a clue what this might be, just based on the direction of Yusuke's journey and Recolle's facilities. It's also an anniversary that he has to attend. ]
Yeah. Three paintbrushes are better than one.
[ No need to drag it out unless Yusuke is willing to talk about it. He's fine with that. ]
no subject
...
[ That... is a relief. A literal weight off his shoulders. ]
Firstly, I'm trying to get home, so I can check on my mother. It'll be easier to find the final location from there anyway.
no subject
take on this sidequesthis friend!]Okay, that sounds do-able! I downloaded Recolle's map on my phone when I moved here, so we could use that to navigate if you tell us the address.
no subject
Nice, we have a navigator. We can paint along the way, but we'll focus on painting your house completely. I hope you don't mind purple?
[ But they can't just let Yusuke go off easy. Akira purposely dabs some paint on his face and gestures Elliot to come closer and do the same thing. ]
no subject
[ It's the first stop on his journey, after all.
...
...
Um. Wow.
Yusuke blinks, and lifts his hands to his cheek, dabbing fingertips into the patches and lifting them away. Yup. Sure is purple. ]
... Did that serve any sort of purpose...?
no subject
But right. Before they get started he too will follow Akira's lead, stand on his tip-toes and-
Dab a bit of purple on Yusuke's cheek. ]
no subject
We should have fun when creating art, right?
[ He stretches his arm with wide and grand movements, getting some of the paint on the areas nearby. It doesn't come with color, but it does unveil the outlines in black. ]
no subject
Yes, quite.
[ I hope you were braced for impact, because quick as a flash he's moving in to do some lovely kitty cat whiskers and a cute button dot nose on Akira's face.
Ready
Fight. ]
no subject
Elliot... chooses to save himself and back up in his steps. Enjoy your cat face Akira]
