[open] [ that picture from the iron giant of the guy yelling ART ]
WHO: Yusuke Kitagawa + OPEN
WHERE: Around Recolle.
WHEN: From 5/3 to 5/12...!
WHAT: Oh just... normal things.
WARNINGS: Excessive use of PAINT.
[ Anyone who runs into Yusuke from the moment he gets his hands on his paintbrush and a paint pot is going to be aware of two distinct things: firstly, that he is an artist and definitely knows what he's doing with the utensils at his disposal. This ain't his first rodeo, that's for sure.
Secondly though, is that Yusuke is painting a lot like a man possessed - he's specifically focused on finding outlines and getting an idea of the layout, despite his well known attention to detail, and just... doesn't seem to be stopping. From the moment he finds his painting tools, he's back tracking to his home and wildly painting the street back into existence.
And this is how he is for the majority of the week. There's a method to his madness though, he's clearly looking for something, and seems to retracing old steps in an attempt to find it. The longer he's at it, the sloppier the paintwork becomes and, quite honestly, the worse for wear Yusuke seems. He only stops when it gets too dark to paint, and returns home, before leaving to begin again early in the morning. Watch him long enough, and you may even catch him swaying on the spot, or heavy lidded, like he's about to fall asleep on his feet.
... Help him? This is just sad. ]

It cools off the fire, but his eyes do dart to Elliot when he takes step back. You think he didn't hear those? ]
no subject
[ SPARKLE SPARKLE ]
Shall we continue?
no subject
Mm! Let's go!
no subject
Aren't you going to do that to Elliot, too?
[ DISCRIMINATION? Don't make him take this into his own hands. ]
no subject
Patience... [ It's spoken softly as well. Give him time... cat whiskers will not do for Elliot. He must find something more fitting...
Something more intricate. ]
no subject
Anyway Elliot can't really make out what they're saying, but he doesn't let it bother him. He's instead busy trying to orient his phone map. ]
Hmmm...it'd be really useful if we uncovered a street sign...
[He pockets his phone and pulls his paintbrush out off his belt. Instead of painting directly, he'll conjure a mass of water and stick his brush in- letting the paint mix with the water until it becomes colored water.
Then he lets the water go flying- it flies off and crashes onto some whiteness, revealing the forms of street and mailboxes in watercolor paint. Being a mage is wild guys.]
Oh, an address!
[Going to go read that off the mailbox. Too bad it's mostly useless without the street NAME. But in other words, he's preoccupied]
no subject
And of course Elliot does some cool water shit. Damn. He applauds before walking up to the mailbox his friend is ogling, adding color with his own paintbrush. The outline comes into color, a red with a purple tint. ]
Your house is not too far from here.
[ He turns to Yusuke, giving him a thumbs up. ]
no subject
[ Yusuke gets his own paintbrush out, adding light blue to the mix as well. Wonderful.
But after a moment, he leans over to Elliot and - it's a little slower than his work on Akira's cheeks, but with a little work... and some steady hands....
Elliot may find himself with a neat little musical note daubed on his cheek. Beautiful. ]
no subject
Huh? What're you-
[Despite the protest, he stays still so the artist can finish his work. As soon as it's down, he'll pull out his phone again and switch it to camera mode, so he can get a looksie]
- Hehe, aw! I like it!
[you choose well Yusuke! ]
no subject
But it's nothing like the one he has to suffer. He lets out a huff and continues to paint on the way, leaving purple streaks where he goes thanks to Elliot's water trick. ]
Do you think anyone would complain about purple foliage?
no subject
Yusuke is going to keep sneaking paints onto Elliot's face, when and where he can. By the time he's done, there'll be a treble clef and a cat paw there. Calm down Akira, he's committed to making works of art out of both of you. ]
no subject
[Which he's sure setting off another watercolored spell to cause more paint to spread. As for Yusuke painting his face. When he keeps doing it...]
Uh- shouldn't you be focusing on painting the road rather than me...?
no subject
[ He thought the same thing and feverishly paints the rest of the mailboxes for the greater good. It’ll help people find their houses. Doorframes? Also painted, but they can’t stop to paint everything if they want to help Yusuke reach his destination. Summoning Baal the very first time takes a little push, but the figure with the funky helmet casts a gust to spread the paint and guide the water even further down the street. When the deed is done, the god-like presence disappears.
Popping in some SP gum that’s in his bag, he tries to restore what energy he lost. ]
When you guys are done, we can take Kohryu for some speedpainting. It’ll be like riding a horse.
[ Except though... One of them will never be able to master that art. ]
no subject
...
[ Oh. Look at Akira being resourceful. Perhaps he could have persuaded Goemon to hold a paintbrush rather than his pipe, but at this point the thought of summoning him for a length of time makes him feel slightly nauseous. A short term boost of painting power, but in the long run it would only exhaust him much quicker. ]
Like a horse? If the horse could fly, I suppose...
no subject
[But whatever he was going to feebly argue, that gets forgotten when Akira brings up Kohryu. Eren and Elliot had just talked about Kohryu the other day, and so he gets extra excited]
Better than a horse!! That's a great idea! [does a little double fist pump to show his enthusiasm. Yeah dragon riding!!!]
no subject
I should be able to keep Kohryu out for several breaks now since following Yusuke didn't take up too much energy.
[ Also because he has SP adhesive 3 on which... He should probably give Yusuke one so he can practice with ease. With the snap of Akira's fingers, half of his face lights up with a familiar flame. The fire crackles and manifests where the dragon appears, gold and magnanimous. His whiskers coil in the air as he hovers over them, watching them with careful red eyes. ]
We should be able to paint Yusuke's street and cover more ground this way.
[ Akira hops on and when they join him. Good thing no one is out—except for this old man who is trying to get his mail, now staring at the dragon. Whoops. ]
no subject
How long were you two stalking m--[ Thankfully he is cut off by the magnificent arrival of Kohryu, coiling and floating in the air above them. For a moment, his hands itch to sketch the majestic dragon, but as much as he wants, sketching would not help him in his endeavours to repaint the graveyard into existence. ]
If it saves time, I can hardly say no.
[ Oh. Hello old man. Don't mind them, and their dragon friend. You saw nothing. ]
no subject
Oh. An old man noticed them. Elliot gulps nervously and climbs onto the dragon quickly, as if that'll stop the staring]
I-It was a lot easier when people didn't notice anything...
no subject
[ This is awkward? Once both of them are on, Kohryu gracefully rises only a little big over the neighborhood. They can see a couple of houses and start dumping all their paint now. The sky is also unfortunately white, which makes Akira curious.
Don't mind if he dabs a spot and part of the sky becomes nothing. Actually, there's a bit of a cloud outline, but it's hard to notice. ]
Can you pin me the location, Elliot? I'll navigate while you guys handle the paint.
[ Yes. ]
no subject
[ ... Hm.
After a moment, Yusuke mimics Akira's motion - only he lifts his hand and brush into the sky and drags a trail of pale, pale blue around and through the clouds. ]
no subject
Location pinned!
[Pocketing his own phone, he'll hold onto Kohryu with one hand while using another to channel another volley of watercolors onto the area below]
Ahaha, well I think we're just examples of how humans can adapt to anything.
no subject
[ The houses start to show their dark black outlines, but they need a second paint for it to turn any kind of color. Akira checks his own phone to see Elliot's pin and starts steering towards the direction of Yusuke's house.
Once they're there, they hover over the house. ]
This should be it.
no subject
[ To someone who has been called weird often, this is a sticking point. When they're hovering over his house, he holds still for a moment. ]
I suppose we shall find out.
[ He flicks some paint down at it thoughtfully, aiming for distinctive features on his house - like the gate, or the front door. ]
no subject
[Akira don't make it sound worse!! But he's not here for an argument about semantics. Instead he'll glance down at the area below them too. Not wanting to cause Yusuke's home water damage, this time he'll conjure some wind to blow the paint towards the house below. It splatters in sweeping streaks]
no subject
He cranes his neck a bit to see if this is definitely the Kitagawa estate—the familiar gates manifest, then the yard. Parts of the house come are outlined with Elliot's help before a fraction of it becomes a mix of blues. ]
Did you want us to land?
[ Or are they going to keep going? ]
