April Catch All with Derek Matthews [OPEN]

April is a fairly busy month for Derek, he is trying to remember when he had this much of a social life.

I.A. Riding the Nimbus 2001 OTA

Even with being more social than normal, Derek still finds time to take his Nimbus 2001 out for a ride, usually at night. He can be found flying over the city. You can try to call out to him or if you have the mean, why don't you join him? Or challenge him to a race?

I.B. Taking a break OTA

Or perhaps you have caught him during a break and he is sitting on the roof of a building and you just happen to look up and see his feet dangling on the side. If you ask him what he is doing up there, he will gladly take the chance to show off his Nimbus 2001.

II. A. Run into Derek at a Bar OTA

Derek is no stranger to drinking. Retrospec still stresses him out, thus the occasional drink is in order. Besides, if it's after the 9th, he's recently found out his sister, Amanda, isn't on the app anymore, meaning she has "been reset." Derek does not take it well at all. Not as bad when his ex dumped him right after Christmas and move half way across the country, but bad enough that he will probably be visiting a bar at least every other night for the rest of the month. No promises that he will be in a good mood when you talk to him.

II. B. Run into Derek at Expressive OTA

On the nights that he is not drinking, he is at Expressive drinking some Earl Grey. With all the drinking he is doing at bars this month, at Jirou and Kenta's engagement party, and Alex's birthday party, he has to have some sort of control over his alcohol consumption. God knows he needs to drink a bit less. So, feel free to join him wit your own coffee or tea.

[Derek pulls into the parking lot to the paintball field. All of his gear is in the trunk of his car, but they still need to rent some gear for Lillian. Turning off the car he turns to Lillian who is in the seat next him to him.]

Are you up for doing some one on one paintball fun?

[Yeah, Derek is tight with the paintball community and happend to be able to get the owner to block out a couple of hours for him and Lillian. Being a frequent customer has it's perks.]

[Lillian had never played this before, and was honestly pretty excited. But from what she knew, it was teams...]

Can we do that? Figured we'd get stuck on a team or something? [A beat.] I mean, I'm game if you're really that intent on losin'.

[She grinned teasingly.]

[Derek chuckles in response.]

Normally patrons can't just reserve the range for themselves, but I've been coming here for years and I have a good relationship with the owners.

[Derek unbuckles his seat belt and starts getting out of the car.]

In regards to the whole team thing, teams are usually divided up by level. If you even tried to go up against a team at my level... well.. you wouldn't last a minute.

[Derek grabs his gear out of the back seat and slings it over his shoulder.]

I figured this way, you can get your feet wet and actually stand a chance.

[Derek smirks.]

Unless, you are secretly a super advance paintball player and you've hid that little fact from me?

[Closed to James] Paintball fun

[It took some convincing the owner, but Derek was able to get the field on reserve for a second time this month. Derek is starting to feel he is running out of favors. Either way, when James gets there, he will find Derek out in the prepping area getting his gear ready. Derek also already rented out some gear and a gun for James. Don't worry, Derek gets special discounts when he comes.]

[ James had a bit of a moral dilemma before actually showing up today. He's been shying away from anything even approximately approaching violence since his murder attempt--even if this particular activity is just for fun and not meant to hurt anyone, knowing that he's capable and willing to do it scares him. Not to mention that even when he's not trying to hurt anyone, he still manages to do it anyway.

...But then he gets fed up with sitting at home feeling pathetic. It's just a damn game of paintball, not an assassination, don't be melodramatic, James!

So although he does finally show up and he does want to take part, he looks a little reluctant. He spots Derek in all his gear and walks over. ]

Alright, what do I need to do? This place better have pistols.

[Derek points to the paintball rifle.]

They have rifles.

[Derek then starts pointing to the different equipment.]

There is the vest and other protective gear, the helmet with the Onmask, and...

[Derek picks up two small black bags.]

you're ammo. One you deposit into the gun, and one as your back up if you run out.

[Derek sets down the bags.]

Have you ever done paint ball before?

[Closed to Yogi] Modelling in the Park

[Derek arrives at the park about five minutes early. Seeing that he has beat Yogi, he takes a seat on a bench and enjoys the beautiful weather. The sun is shining bright, but there is a nice spring breeze that makes the temperature more pleasant. Derek is wondering what he has gotten himself into by agreeing to model for Yogi, but he's in too deep now and now way really of backing out now. Besides, the guy did fix his bear, so being dressed up for a few hours isn't going to kill him.]

_{[ Yogi trots into the park with two bags over his shoulder - a large duffle and then a smaller side-satchel bouncing against his hip. He spotted Derek, giving a shout and waving as he trotted up to him. They weren't far from a public restroom, which while not ideal would do for a change. Thankfully the park was not very busy today, only a few scattered other people, and it hadn't rained in the last few days, so everything was fairly dry as well. ]}

[Derek looks up from where he is sitting on the bench when Yogi calls out to him. He grins and gives hims a half wave in return. Right coloring? What the hell is he going to wear?]

No problem. What exactly am I wearing?

[Hux has been visiting the bar nearly every day after being introduced to Retrospec. Between that awful stalker, mail going out of control and the laws of physics just breaking in front of him, alcohol is definitely the most appealing thing in the world now.

So, it doesn't escape his notice when he sees Derek at the same bar after a week.]

[He says in an almost dry sort of tone, before downing a rather large portion of his drink.]

Unless you're just an alcoholic. I might become one soon. [He makes a hand notion by his head.] You with Retrospec?

[Kamui's always enjoyed walking at night. It's that paradoxical time of day when people watching is at it's peak and yet prying eyes are at a minimum. With a light chuckle, he halts his stride and looks up, searching out the moon.

Instead, he sees some guy flying through the air on a fucking broom.

He doesn't waste time comparing the sight to a Halloween decoration. He immediately takes off, chasing after the iconic silhouette on foot. When the flying stranger lands, he's sure as hell not going to miss it]

[Derek has been enjoying his ride. The wind in his face, the cool air of the night, and no one to really bother him. It's idyllic. Though his stomach is getting a bit hungry and he decides to take a break and eat a snack.

Turning his broom, he veers in the direction of one of the taller buildings in the area. Landing, he dismounts his broom and takes a seat on the edge of the building, his feet dangling over the side as his broom sits next to him. Opening a small bag he has on him, he takes out a bag of trail mix and an apple.]

[Without the convenience of his own magic broom, Kamui has to climb this building the old fashioned way: in an elevator. Only after Derek's had a chance to settle comfortably into his seat and start chowing down does the door to the roof suddenly slam open. Light from inside the building illuminates Kamui's wide blue eyes.]

[ It's by chance that he should look up and see someone's feet dangling off of the nearby convenience store roof. Kei was about to enter the store to buy himself some snack, but steps back and allows the door to close. ]

... what are you doing? I don't think that you're quite allowed to be up there, are you?

[Derek had just bitten into his apple when he hears someone talking below him. He leans over and sees Kei looking up at him. Derek smirks.]

What are you going to do about it? Citizen's arrest me?

[Derek takes another bite of his apple.]

[Closed to Kenta and Jirou] Meeting Blaise, the cat from hell

[When Derek realized both Jirou and Kenta wanted to meet his cat, Blaise, he decided to invite them over at the same time. You know, shove two strangers at his cat for the price of only one head ache and not two.

Derek straightened up his apartment, cleaned the litter box, and made sure his fridge was stocked with his favorite beer, Hoegaarden Spéciale. His apartment was presentable five minutes before Kenta and Jirou were scheduled to arrive. He looks over at Blaise who was lounging at the top of his cat tree.]

Is it too much to ask for you to be nice to Kenta and Jirou?

[Blaise responds with a low meow, which Derek can only assume to mean, "Yes."

Sighing, Derek flops down on his couch and waits for Kenta and Jirou to arrive.]

[Kenta and Jirou are punctual because Kenta is often very Japanese about his time keeping.

But they're also not coming with empty hands because that would be rude. So there's a bottle of expensive sake for Derek, and cat toys and treats for Blaise.

Kenta will ring the doorbell and quickly check his clothes to make he looks presentable.]

[ Akira does join him, as to be expected. Though he could use a few drinks of his own, coffee will do just fine for now. He takes a seat across from the other man with a bit of a sigh. ]

It's been a while.

[ ann is on her way to expressive for a cup of coffee. at this point she's also possessed by a fire spirit and showing off her panther uniform. she walks to the entrance when she sees a pair of feet dangling over her...how weird. she backs up and looks upward, though, and sees...

Hey, you! What're you doing up there, huh?

[Derek had been sitting on the roof of Expressive enjoying an apple when he heard a familiar voice. Looking down he sees Ann staring up at him.]

Hey Ann! I'm just taking a break. I've been frequently taking this out for a ride.

[Derek holds up his Nimbus 2001 for Ann to see.]

What about you? How have you been?

[It is then that Derek notices her panther uniform.]

And if you don't mind me asking, what are you wearing?

[Derek doesn't normally see Ann in those kind of clothes.]

[Foggy is doing a little better than last month now that Yukine's killer has been arrested. He still isn't at regular cheer levels however. If he is going to drink it's better if he does it with someone who can cut him off if he has one too many. He's on his second glass when he turns to Derek.]

Think of it this way. Just like Nat Amanda is going to be free to focus on regular teenage life and this way she can't trek off on one of those dangerous missions.

Derek is hunched over his drink, just staring at it.]

You have a point Foggy, you do but... she doesn't even remember the past five months on anything concerning Retrospec. She doesn't remember the wizarding candy I brought to her birthday party. She doesn't remember that I was gone for a whole month in doing stuff for Retrospec. She does't remember freaking out at me when she found out I went. We lost a really great brother/sister moment that I can't even get back. I-I never even got to show her my magic. I kept putting it off thinking that I would have time and now... it's too late.
