April Catch All with Derek Matthews [OPEN]

April is a fairly busy month for Derek, he is trying to remember when he had this much of a social life.

I.A. Riding the Nimbus 2001 OTA

Even with being more social than normal, Derek still finds time to take his Nimbus 2001 out for a ride, usually at night. He can be found flying over the city. You can try to call out to him or if you have the mean, why don't you join him? Or challenge him to a race?

I.B. Taking a break OTA

Or perhaps you have caught him during a break and he is sitting on the roof of a building and you just happen to look up and see his feet dangling on the side. If you ask him what he is doing up there, he will gladly take the chance to show off his Nimbus 2001.

II. A. Run into Derek at a Bar OTA

Derek is no stranger to drinking. Retrospec still stresses him out, thus the occasional drink is in order. Besides, if it's after the 9th, he's recently found out his sister, Amanda, isn't on the app anymore, meaning she has "been reset." Derek does not take it well at all. Not as bad when his ex dumped him right after Christmas and move half way across the country, but bad enough that he will probably be visiting a bar at least every other night for the rest of the month. No promises that he will be in a good mood when you talk to him.

II. B. Run into Derek at Expressive OTA

On the nights that he is not drinking, he is at Expressive drinking some Earl Grey. With all the drinking he is doing at bars this month, at Jirou and Kenta's engagement party, and Alex's birthday party, he has to have some sort of control over his alcohol consumption. God knows he needs to drink a bit less. So, feel free to join him wit your own coffee or tea.

[Kenta gets you Blaise. He is very much a cat himself, if you look at it in certain ways.]

We brought other bottle, too. I mean, for dirnking tonight. I figured you might want to keep that bottle for an occasion.

Hi Blaise! Your servant will make sure to give you the treats we brought later so we don't bother you too much, you handsome thing!

[He giggles and comes back over to lean against Derek, his arms draped over his shoulders. Gently, he pokes his cheek.]

We brought cups too so you don't have to worry about that!

[Derek stiffens a bit when Jirou drapes an arm over his shoulders. He's not use to being casually touched and was surprised. He quickly relaxes though and give Jirou a side eye stare.]

I'm not his slave.

[He then looks at Kenta and holds up the expensive bottle of sake.]

And thanks for this. I'll definitely save it for something special.

[He sets the bottle of sake on the counter off to the side.]

What kind of bottle did you bring? Because I also have beer in the fridge. Have either of you ever had Hoegaarden Spéciale? It's my particular favorite.

[Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye he sees Blaise jump down from his cat tree and start making his way towards the kitchen.]

Oh, looks like someone is deciding to join us.

[Blaise then jumps on top of the counter and walks over to where Kenta and just sits and stares at him as if he is inspecting him.]

[Kenta knows better given the description Derek has given of his cat than to even hold out his hand to the beast. It's not that he doesn't want to, and to be honest cat scratches on him would probably heal in a few hours. But it would be a lack of respect for the animal.]

There's sake and beer and a wine in the bag, but I'd be happy to taste yours as well.

[Unlike tea, Kenta doesn't really have a favorite when it comes to beer. He'll happily chug down anything.]

Should we give him a treat right away?

I've had basically everything so probably!

[He laughs and lets go of Derek so he can go lean against Kenta instead. Mainly because he can put his full weight on his fiance and Kenta won't even sway a little bit.

Has he ever mentioned that he loves how big Kenta is?]

[Derek shrugs.]

I mean, you can try. I can't promise you that he'll take one. And even if he does, he will my treat you like dirt after he's had the treat.

[Derek turns to his fridge, pulls out the pack of Hoegaarden Spéciale, and sets it on the counter.]

Feel free to help yourself it you'd like.

[Derek then scratches Blaise;s head, which instantly causes the cat to start purring.]

Do you like that?

[Blaise meows contently.]

This might be a good time to try and give him a treat to be honest. He prefers fish flavored treats.

[Kenta opens a beer for Jirou and and another one for himself as he watches Derek interact with his cat. Clearly the animal loves him.

He grabs one of the bag of treats when prompted, and gently holds one out for the cat. He's not afraid, but he's cautious all the same.]

How is he getting on with the owl?

[Helping himself to a seat, he plops down to watch Kenta as he happily drinks the beer. Humming, he sways a bit.]

So goooood.

Well, since December they pretty much ignore each other. However, since Bronte stays in my room, Blaise refuses to sleep on my bed anymore.He sleeps on the couch or the cubby hole in his cat tree.

[Mean while Blaise is looking at the treat in Kenta's hand. He sniffs it and then moves it with his paw for a bit. He then pick it up with his teeth, holds it in his mouth for a moment, as if he was giving it a bit of a taste. But after a few seconds, he spits it back into Kenta's hand. He then turns around back to Derek and gives him a looks that reads, "You invite people here who are trying to poison me? How dare you!]

Apparently he didn't like that one. He's really picky.

[Kenta doesn't look mad. If anything, he's relieved the cat didn't scratch or bite him.]

He has quite the character indeed. Well, we have different kinds.

[He's just going to put the bag this one came from aside, since it didn't meet with approval.]

[Jirou leans over to hand a different bag to Kenta.]

What about this one?

[Derek glances at the bag of treats.]

You're welcome to try. Though he does like the fish loin treats that Applaws makes. So if you have any kind of fish loins or tuna flakes of that quality, you might be able to get him to eat something. He's... kind of a food snob. He'll only eat Applaws, Solistic, and some Instinct. To be honest, I do think this furball believes himself to be some sort of royalty.

[Blaise glances back to Kenta and Jirou and has a looks that seems to say, "Are you up for the challenge?"]

How about homemade ones?

[Kenta is opening another bag and holding out a different treat, but there are also small containers in the bag that were definitely not store-bought.]

I asked the Suzuki-san if she could make something for a cat with the leftover fish and the innards, so she tried her hand at it.

Suzu is super good at people good so I think she'll be great at kitty food too!

[And they should have some real fishy goodness to them!]

[Derek shrugs.]

I've never tried giving him homemade food. You're welcome to try.

[Meanwhile Blaise had noticed Kenta's hand and is investigating the treat. He paws it for a moment and then quickly swipes Kenta's hand away. Apparently that treat was not even worthy of tasting.]

Blaise!

[Blaise ignores Derek and continues to twitch his tail while staring Kenta down. One more piece of poison and he is going to bite this giant.]

I'm sorry Kenta, did he scratch you?

[Well, alright then. Kenta couldn't move his hand out of range fast enough, so he did get scratched a little, but he didn't even flinch.]

Don't worry about it. It barely broke skin. It'll just heal on its own.

[He actually means that literally, Derek. Give it an hour and it'll be completely gone.]

How about we put some of the homemade treat in a bowl and see if he likes them better?

It should be gone in about an hour probably!

[Yep. Even Jirou is blowing this off.]

You should come have drinks with me, Derry!

[Derek glances away from his cat to Jirou.]

In a moment.

[Derek opens a cupboard and pulls out a spare food bowl. He set it in front of Kenta.]

Here.

[He then runs his hands up and down Blaise's back.]

Why can't you be nice?

[Blaise just simply meows in response and flicks his tail right into Derek's face, which Derek promptly pushes out of the way.]

Want to pour me a cup Jirou?

[Kenta opens one of the containers and carefully empties it into the bow. The fishy smell is rather strong, and the whole thing seems to have been cooked and prepared with as much care as if it were for human consumption.]

I think this one has tuna and salmon in it... And there's one with octopus, and I think the last one has some leftover oysters in it?

Always!

[When doesn't Jirou want someone to pour him alcohol? That's the real question here. He always loves having another drink and he grins as he waits for his cup.]

[Blaise looks at the treats in the bowl with curiosity. He thinks it smells good. He stands up and inches closer to it. pawing it a bit, before sitting back on the counter and take a bite of the fish treat. He chews it for a bit and... then swallows it.]

Dude, did he actually eat it?

[Blaise meow's in satisfaction and then goes in for another bite until the bowl is empty. He then looks up at Kenta expectantly, his tail twitching, waiting for more treats.]

Well call me surprised... well, not really. Go figure he'd prefer rich people food.

[Derek reaches for his cup of sake and takes a sip.]

Wow, this stuff is great. Where do you get this stuff?

[Not that I can afford it...]

... Well, he likes this one at least. Let's try the next one, maybe.

[here's the other container, Blaise. Kenta will empty it into the bowl as well. The octopus will make it a bit chewier, but it should be no less tasty.]

I am glad those were seen as acceptable offerings. I'm sure Suzuki-san will be happy to know he likes them, too.

[At Derek's question, Kenta thinks about where he bought the bottle.]

There's a specialty liquor store in town where I get some of my rarer alcohols. They import it direct from Japan.

Daddy also has alcohol from his clients around the world that he gives to me. So three of the bottles we have of that one are from daddy.

[The others? All from Kenta. Which means they have thousands of dollars of alcohol just sitting around their place and they aren't even thinking that's weird at all.]

Is that the octopussy one?

[He remembers watching Suzu packing them.]

So a store I can stare at but not enter then.

[Derek takes a sip of his drink.]

Octopus? Mate what are you feeding my cat?

[Meanwhile Blaise is leaning in to sniff the treat. He leans into the bowl, sniffs it, and then jolts back in surprise. Yeah, that smelled weird.]

We had it for dinner last night. It's fresh.

[Besides, octopus is very healthy for you, but it can be surprising to people - or cats - not used to it.]

If he doesn't like it, there's another one.
