April Catch All with Derek Matthews [OPEN]

April is a fairly busy month for Derek, he is trying to remember when he had this much of a social life.

I.A. Riding the Nimbus 2001 OTA

Even with being more social than normal, Derek still finds time to take his Nimbus 2001 out for a ride, usually at night. He can be found flying over the city. You can try to call out to him or if you have the mean, why don't you join him? Or challenge him to a race?

I.B. Taking a break OTA

Or perhaps you have caught him during a break and he is sitting on the roof of a building and you just happen to look up and see his feet dangling on the side. If you ask him what he is doing up there, he will gladly take the chance to show off his Nimbus 2001.

II. A. Run into Derek at a Bar OTA

Derek is no stranger to drinking. Retrospec still stresses him out, thus the occasional drink is in order. Besides, if it's after the 9th, he's recently found out his sister, Amanda, isn't on the app anymore, meaning she has "been reset." Derek does not take it well at all. Not as bad when his ex dumped him right after Christmas and move half way across the country, but bad enough that he will probably be visiting a bar at least every other night for the rest of the month. No promises that he will be in a good mood when you talk to him.

II. B. Run into Derek at Expressive OTA

On the nights that he is not drinking, he is at Expressive drinking some Earl Grey. With all the drinking he is doing at bars this month, at Jirou and Kenta's engagement party, and Alex's birthday party, he has to have some sort of control over his alcohol consumption. God knows he needs to drink a bit less. So, feel free to join him wit your own coffee or tea.

The Great and Powerful Witch Hunter Kamui!

[He's not even remotely embarrassed by answering in this way. In fact, he strides toward Derek and his lunch without a second of hesitation. The closer he gets, the clearer Derek will be able to discern the outline of a fit young man in a hoodie and dark jeans, his salmon colored hair pulled back into a loose braid. He's grinning as he reaches for that flying broom.

Permission? Who needs it.]

I'm afraid my secret organization's code requires I confiscate this.

[Once Derek sees Kamui trying to go for his Nimbus, he grabs it and whips out his wand, stands, and points it straight at Kamui's face, right between the eyes.]

You sure want to do that? You may be my sister's friend, but over my dead body you are touching my broom.

[He dares you to try and take his broom Kamui. Just try and he will either make you start doing ballet pirouettes non stop or give you the unceasing feeling of being tickled to death. He's still debating which one he will find more satisfying.]

[Kamui's blue eyes go wide as they stare down the business end of a wand. There is no point, no blade, but Kamui can sense Derek is dead serious. If the guy's broom is magic, why not his wand? What's even more shocking than being threatened at wandpoint, however, is the person doing the threatening. Kamui's gaze rises, meeting Derek eye-to-eye. His ever present grin drops.]

You're the big brother?

[Derek smirks.]

One of them. But I'm definitely her favorite. So what this secret organization you belong to that has you thinking you can take my broom hmmm?

[Derek continues to point his wand right between Kamui's eyes. Yeah, it's not going to move until Derek is positive Kamui won't try to take his broom again.]

[Kamui certainly eyes the broom again, but he's not reaching for it anymore. He's too busy trying to fit this wand-wielding witch into his close-minded and extremely biased image of Derek Matthews: The By-the-Books and Easily Irritated CSI Nerd.]

...The Organization for the Protection of Mistreated Household Appliances?

[Derek lets out a snort and lowers his wand.]

Please, that's the best you got? Does this looks mistreated to you?

[A light appears at the end of Derek's wand and he holds the light up to his broom, illuminating it in the darkness of the night.]

As you can see, this is no ordinary broom, it's a racing broom. It's meant to be ridden, not used for a menial tasks such as sweeping.

[There is a light on the end of that wand. It is a legitimate magic wand. What the fuck. What else can he do with that thing?

And yet even as these thoughts swirl in the forefront of his brain, Kamui can only think to say:] Isn't that sorta like buying a toaster and using it as a step stool instead of making toast?

That's a really strange analogy, but no. It would be like buying a toaster that not only has the ability to make toast, but also has the ability to make your coffee and fry your eggs.

But there are so many cooler things you could fly on....

[No, he is not letting this go. At least not until he can think of how to address the Derek Matthews is Magic situation.]

[Derek gives Kamui a look of disbelief.]

Like what pray tell?

Spaceships.

[blondferret]

[Derek chuckles at that comment.]

Well, depending on the spaceship, that could be understandable. However, my other self comes from a world with magic and not a scifi one. So I'll just have to settle for my Nimbus 2001.
