MARCH EVENT LOG
FOUNDER'S DAY The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes. "Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love." I. At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city. At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city. At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic. "We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service." If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo. Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all. II. But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest. The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like. And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations. What's going on in these other places though? Well.... III. Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more. On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret. IV. Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more. Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round. Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it. V. Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest. It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions? VI. Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all. On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now. Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right? But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that. BONUS. Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops. The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself. Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee. Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. Best of luck, Retrospecters. Welcome to ![]() This will be a fairly lowkey month meant for travel, exploration and recouping from the last month's event! As of 3/3 all groups will ICly be back in the city. The event feedback post will go up on 3/4 along with information about the new world changes that may take place and the upcoming quest board. Any questions you have regarding this event may be directed to the mod comment here. |

[welp. her messenger bag is full of as many provisions as she can stuff it with, she's got a big sword strapped to her back, and Anna's ready to head out into the woods again. she can probably make it out to Bosuma in a couple hours, she figures, if she walks fast. as she stands looking at the sign and mentally charting her course, the warning signs also catch her attention. she scoffs, blowing hair out of her face.]
Now you guys tell us? Thanks for nothing.
[the sword should at least protect her if anything happens. as she turns westward, she catches something out of the corner of her eye that she wasn't expecting. and because she's already on her guard, she doesn't sound happy about it.]
Quit hiding or I'll kick your ass into next week. Not getting jumped by a cow again.
v. this is where we all should see red
[this is the absolute life. during the day, Anna's taking everything around her in. she's absolutely in love with how isolated everything is out here, and she's pretty sure she could stay in these woods for days if she'd brought enough stuff with her. no job stress, no people... she isn't even high and she feels way more at peace than she ever did. it's weird, but. she likes it a lot. so much that she just decides to lay out the cloth that her sword is wrapped in and take a nap right here on the ground. nobody's gonna bother her, right?]
[at night, it's almost better. everything is blooming and flowering and there's colors in the air and the stars are twinkling above her and she could really just live like this forever. until some flower sprays a bunch of red pollen in her face and she suddenly finds herself scowling. what the hell is its problem anyway?]
[she hears a noise of something or someone approaching and turns on her heel. rushing to grab the hilt of her sword that she still hasn't gotten great with, her eyes scan the world around her. she barks out an order.]
Get the fuck out here and fight me!
x. for you it's a different notion (closed to Astin)
[Anna's got her big-ass sword here for testing purposes, and she brought along with her a lot of super tattered, old clothing—mostly t-shirts from bands she says she doesn't listen to anymore—in a messenger bag around her shoulder. she'd given Astin the best way to find her in the woods, though she's not especially deep into them right now. it's just enough to keep them away from any bystanders.]
[her sword is still a little too heavy to comfortably hold in one hand, so she has it resting on a flat rock next to the one she's sitting on. the engine block hilt at least makes it easy to set down. she gestures at it; the blade is facing away from both of them, but still shines in the sun.]
All right. You wanted to see it? Here it is.

[Nanashi comes out of from hiding and reveals himself to Anna. She may notice that this guy's just a kid who's wandering out here all alone. He doesn't look lost though. The bag of supplies and map indicate on his person indicates as much. ]
Just don't kick my ass or anything. I'm not into that kinda thing.
[Please spare him, Anna. He doesn't want to die young. ]
What's with the big sword? Are you into weapons?
no subject
Didn't think I was until I got this in the mail.
[she gives him a once-over and decides not to explain why she was so on her guard. not something he needs to know.]
Where you headed?
no subject
Your weapon's pretty cool. I like the way it looks.
[When Anna asks that question Nanashi opens up his map and points to a marker. ]
I'm heading for Bosuma and it's right around here. How about you?
no subject
[not that she has any idea what to actually expect out there.]
This sword is just if shit goes south. Didn't want to leave it at home with my roommate. He'd probably hurt himself. You run into anything that I might need to use this on yet?

[Sometimes you needed intense, though, right?]
[Still, at the shout, she frowned, and then leaned slowly backwards so her head and shoulders and that ridiculously long blonde ponytail of hers came into view, and she raised an eyebrow at the shouting woman. Jumped by a cow? What?]
[So after about three seconds of silently meeting her gaze...]
...Moo?
no subject
Nice try. You'll have to be ten times slimier than that.
[and, breaking whatever stance she'd pretended to know how to assume, she walked over to approach the woman that she'd obviously come out of the gate way too strong at. time to temper that first impression!]
Sorry if I weirded you out. I've just seen some shit out here lately. Name's Anna.
no subject
[Lillian stepped out, her expression amused.] Didn't think I was slimy at all, really, so not sure what ten times would do!
[Her Boston accent was noticeable and thick as soon as she started talking any more than 'moo' it seemed.]
And it's fine, don't worry about it. Spent three weeks in the woods last month, ain't nothin' you can do that's any weirder than that. [She grinned.] Besides, there's worse stuff than bein' shouted at by a pretty lady, right?
[Damn it Lillian...]
Oh, and I'm Lillian.
no subject
[ha. Anna hadn't heard an accent like that in a while; she wasn't from there, but one of her friends in high school was as Boston as they came. hell of a way to put her at ease.]
Yeah, I can think of a few worse things. [she grinned.] So you went to Bosuma, I guess? I'm headed out there.
[her entire stance fully relaxed as her hands went into her jacket pockets and her weight shifted to her back leg.]
What's it like? Love to hear the perspective of someone who's 0% slime.

It's so cool! How heavy is it?
no subject
Heavy enough. I can do it with two hands, but I'll need to hit the gym if I wanna do it in one reliably. Give it a try. [she gestures at the hilt.] It ain't Excalibur.
no subject
Dang--that's heavier than I expected.
[ Still, it seems pretty straightforward. Astin gets it up into a guard position and gives a few experimental thrusts and cuts. ]
The balance feels weird.
no subject
[she's a little impressed at them, too, but they're handling it better than Anna did at first. not too surprising.]
It's like putting an engine block instead of a normal crossguard throws off the whole thing or something. But, like... I don't know. It still feels like it's mine, sort of? Or hers, I guess. It's a weird, imbalanced piece of shit, but it's my piece of shit.

[Ishida pops up from his hiding place behind a rock, a notebook and pen in hand along with a messenger bag swung around his shoulders. He looks more prepared to go back to school than heading on a probably dangerous trip...]
I was just taking some notes on the flora around here!
no subject
[she's never seen this kid in person or heard his voice before, but somehow she has an idea she already knows who he is. which means that yeah, she's already promised not to get on his ass any more than she already has. but there's one way to be sure.]
Your school send you out to do some botany? Or are you here on your own 'cause it might help you get into RU?
no subject
[He taps his pen to his chin as he looks at her. She seems kinda young, but definitely old enough to marry at least! He's not the best in guessing ages, but Ishida is confident about that.
...Huh, has he seen her somewhere before? A picture somewhere? He can't place it.]

-Was the condescension really necessary? Well her outburst HAD broken his own concentration, and that on top of the lingering red pollen and his general exhaustion still haunting him from the last month, maybe he was a bit on edge as well.-
I was just writing. I'm not some ruffian here to ruin your evening.
no subject
[yeah, he's probably right, and she knows she's almost totally untrained in this thing, but for some reason she just really wants to kick something's ass. and if he doesn't think she'll be much of a fight with her sword, well, maybe she'll just drop it to the ground and curl up her fists.]
You being here is ruining my evening. What, you think I can't throw a punch 'cause I'm a girl? I'll kick your ass all the way back to the city.

She freezes when she hears a woman's voice calling out that particular challenge, taking a moment to collect herself and peek around a tree.]
You...might not want to do that.
[Fight her, she means. She's just passing through.]
no subject
[she doesn't sound quite as angry just because it's a girl's voice and she isn't exactly as eager to fight other girls... but she still definitely wants to fight. her eyes haven't adjusted as well as they could have by now because of all the flowers, so she can't tell who exactly it is.]
And what's gonna happen if I do?
no subject
[Pen steps out from behind the tree, revealing herself. Just a short little thing, leaning casually on a shillelagh, but standing next to her is a little creature holding a knife in one hand, the other curled around her leg protectively.]

Why does she always seem to acquaint herself with people who will fall asleep or nap anywhere? Clover sighs. Sorry, Anna, you're about to be bothered. ]
... Anna. I don't think this is the best place to sleep.
i never mind!!
Clo.
[she props herself up on her elbow and lets her hand drop back to her side. her eyes are a little out of focus for the moment, but she's not going to look all the way at her anyway.]
I was doing a pretty good job of it. You follow me out here or something?
no subject
[ If Clover sounds a little defensive, that's not imagined. She's extra easy to bristle lately. ]
I'm worried because this region isn't fully mapped or explored, and a monster of some sort could come bounding up to you in your sleep. [ Her eyes land on the sword that Anna has. ] And I doubt that weapon will help you much if you're unconscious. I wasn't expecting you to be here.
[ Does that answer the question? ]
