FOUNDER'S DAY
The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes.

"Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love."

I.
At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city.

At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city.

At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic.

"We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service."

If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo.

Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all.

II.

But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest.

The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like.

And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations.

What's going on in these other places though? Well....

III.
Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more.

On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret.

IV.
Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more.

Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round.

Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it.

V.

Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest.

It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions?

VI.

Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all.

On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now.

Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right?

But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that.

BONUS.
Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops.
The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself.

Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee.

Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. Oh, and the hearts? Also stable for now. It's...if you feel any different or you realize something's missing, come talk to us? We might be able to fix it. The RRI will be taking more volunteers for other assignments as things come up. You'll probably hear from me sooner or later.

The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. Best of luck, Retrospecters.

Welcome to

recolle's March log! The prompts are simply loose guidelines for you guys to play with and make up your own fun adventures for the entire month! You may also create your own logs or inbox threads based on these prompts.

This will be a fairly lowkey month meant for travel, exploration and recouping from the last month's event! As of 3/3 all groups will ICly be back in the city. The event feedback post will go up on 3/4 along with information about the new world changes that may take place and the upcoming quest board.

[and Anna, once she's inside, looks around with only barely contained wonder. she hopes this initial feeling never goes away, the one that keeps smacking her in the face with surprise whenever she sees something absolutely brand new to her, something she never thought would actually exist. and yet here she is. here this is.]

[she's getting better at recovering from it, but she still loves the feeling all the same. after a quick moment, she's ready to start talking again. and the fact that she can ask such mundane questions of this is kind of hilarious.]

Cozy. A real home away from home. Looks like you're never gonna be lost, long as you have this thing nearby. Do you just take it anywhere and park it wherever?

[That sense of awe and interest is half of why she brought Anna up here. It would've been simpler to leave her, but after she got hurt, Pen figured it would be kinder to give her a positive end to the day. No sense in leaving someone to smolder down there, or walk back in the dark.

Seating herself in the command console, the girl taps a few buttons and the hatch seals up behind the two of them.]

I do. Though, I don't take it everywhere. The normal folks not on the app can't see it, just like they don't see any of the weird shit going on, but this thing is big enough that I don't want to risk damaging buildings. Or it.

[Starting the power cycle, she makes ready to get underway.]

Freya'd also fuss at me, since I have a perfectly good car and this thing is ridiculously opulent. And a little difficult to haul groceries in, what with the ladder.

[Anna's so taken by how everything works so smoothly that she almost doesn't catch that last part. it makes sense that this isn't Penelope's main form of transportation, and that she wouldn't want to wreck anything with it. but the power cycle starting up does get her attention, and yeah, she almost misses that name.]

Opulent doesn't even describe it. But, uh, you know Freya?

[you know, it occurs to her that she never did ask what Freya's partner's name is.]

[Pen turns and looks back at Anna with a small smile. She always likes talking about her partner, and even after nearly a year together, it's hard not to gush. She restrains herself though, keeping it to a simple nod.]

Yeah. She's my girlfriend. We've been together nearly a year. You know her?

[Funny, Freya always seems to meet her friends, but she's only really met Lucy and Soleil as far as Freya's go.]

[ha ha, yikes. maybe she'll hold off on the story where she was definitely hitting on Freya for a little bit before it because obvious she was taken.]

Yeah, we've talked a bit. She was one of the first people I ran into when I got on this whole thing, and we bitched about this one girl we both know who just hits on every girl she sees.

[maybe a bad move to bring her up since she doesn't know anything about anything, but whatever, the words are out there.]

She's cool. Good choice.

[Probably not too bad. The engine begins to pick up as they start to drift upwards.]

Soleil? Yeah, that's Freya's ex. She hits on me all the time too. I don't think she knows how to do anything else.

[She gives Anna a wry smile.]

and yeah, she...feels pretty right for me. It's been a good year.

God, you're lucky you're running into me now instead of right after my last breakup. You two already sound like you care about each other so much it'd make me sick.

[she gives Penelope her own attempt at a smirk, just to defuse that. she really hasn't been bitter about it in years. hard to tell why she keeps bringing it up.]

Hell yeah, though. You need something to hang on to when shit's getting weird like this. And I've only been in on all this for a month. You spend a year with someone whose life is all messed up in the same way yours is? That's love right there.

You do. It keeps you sane, even when you're six inches tall, or there's a werewolf trying to murder you or something.

[Glossair engines to full power, there's a faint lurch as the craft moves on forward towards town.]

How'd you guys meet? The gym?

[the motion doesn't catch Anna off guard, but it does stop her talking for a second as it finally hits her that this is actually, for real happening.]

She caught me coughing my lungs out when I was avoiding that whole laser tag garbage. We walked more or less to my place and she juggled a Vespa.

[and at no point in that encounter did Anna think she was cute.]

Gym probably would've been less embarrassing.

[Sure. Sure.]

Juggling a Vespa? Hah, that's all she did?

[Freya has this tendency to enjoy showing off her powers. Not that Pen is any different, her own super strength just doesn't work the same way.]

That's not all she did, but I think she stopped showing off when you came up.

[there's not a lot of alternate ways to interpret that, but as long as she doesn't say it, it's fine. probably.]

[Pen smiles gently, doing her best not to seem like she's smirking. Anna doesn't know, probably...but she's not the jealous type and neither is Freya.]

Well she didn't have to stop. She knows I'm not the type to mind if someone's ogling her. Honestly, I'm lucky she's even interested in a shorty like me.

God. I wasn't ogling her.

[yes, she was. of course she was. Anna can roll her eyes as hard as she wants, but that's not changing the facts.]

There's more to relationships than what people look like, anyway. Maybe she likes being the big spoon.

[Snorting with amusement, Pen turns back to the console to set the autopilot and then sinks down in her chair some.]

Maybe. I dunno, we'd already been through hell together. Shrunk to six inches tall, fighting off a fucking possum, avoiding owls in the dark. The ghost woods, and those damn echo flowers.

...Honestly come to think of it, I'm surprised more people didn't end up dating because of those first few months when nobody really had any powers. Or any clue what was going on.

Yeah, makes sense. If there's total chaos happening, you wanna stick with someone who's at least lived it with you. 'S how me and my first girlfriend got together.

[sort of. but she's talking too much about her lately. never mind that she's gonna start working at the same place Rose does or anything like that. she leans up against the nearest clear spot on a wall and lets her body slouch.]

Jesus christ, every time I talk about this stuff I find out more shit I missed. Ghost woods? [at least it sounds nicer than the unreality thing.]

You haven't heard about that?

[Well, that's actually a surprise. The guidebook should say something about it, and she makes a note to check it with Elda]

Recolle Woods are haunted. No joke, actually haunted.

Huh. Thought that was just the weed giving me those weird vibes.

[she doesn't seem that concerned by it. why would she? ghosts are downright normal at this point.]

I've been going there for years just to chill out. Nothing really bothers me out there, or I guess if it does I barely notice. It's nice to just get a little way out of the city and chill out when there's not, you know. Pollen that makes me want to kick people's asses.

[her fingers run over her stomach lightly. she'd still rather deal with the bruise.]

That stuff is new. That's outside the normal woods, and I think the only time the spirits will mess with you is if you're sensitive to spiritual activity. At least that was what we figured.

Freya and I had a rough night out there, exploring and trying to find our way around, and lead some other people along with us. It got pretty freaky, but nothing dangerous happened. Not like the pollen.

Okay, that explains it, I guess. I don't know jack shit about spirits. I don't even know how you'd start making yourself sensitive to it or whatever.

[maybe it's something people get back. it'd have to be. she doubts anyone has it natively.]

Of course you two went on a weird haunted woods adventure. Was it last October? That seems like the kind of thing they'd make you do for Halloween. [she's learning.]

Couldn't tell you. I'm not sensitive to them, myself and neither is Freya near as we can tell. But we had people with us who were, and we just caught the after-effects. It was...freaky as hell.

[Like, getting lost for seven or eight hours, the camp fire randomly going out and restarting, but Anna doesn't need that level of detail.]

No, it was in May. October was worse, it was a real fucking party. The whole town was shrouded in fog, and people couldn't sleep well because of it. Dreams sometimes trapped people, and other times monsters and phantoms would appear in the fog.

[she appreciates it. no need to ruin one of her favorite chill-out spots quite yet. but at the rate things are going, she wouldn't be surprised if something else came along soon enough.]

Oh, good. We went full on fucking survival horror. [sigh.] At least we have most of the year off from stuff like that, probably. Can't imagine they'll nail us for fuckin' Mother's Day or something.

[of course, they'll have all the other weird stuff going on. getting messed with doesn't need to be seasonally appropriate.]

Not as far as I'm aware. We were shrunk for mother's day but...that was just one of those things that happened and lasted several weeks.

So far though, nothing has been as bad as August? And that probably won't happen again? Probably.

Yeah, I sure as hell hope so and I wasn't even here for that. But I guess I gotta do some preparations before anything even half as bad comes our way.

[bad sign that she's already suspicious of how relatively low-key this month is. nobody's even fought a dire wolf under the aurora borealis!]

Actually sparring with you, you know. Or anyone else in that club, but I'm obviously more familiar with your club now.

Yes, that's probably wise.

[Pen looks back with a wry smile.]

It's a shillelagh. An Irish walking stick, by the way. Semantic, but I've got enough Irish ancestry to feel the need to point that out.

As far as sparring goes, that's doable. Probably best it's not Freya, she has trouble pulling punches now.

Shit, my bad. Shillelagh. [she knows the word and might have problems writing it down, but she can pronounce it just fine and she's not gonna call it a club again.]

Of course she does. If I were as strong as her, I wouldn't wanna hold back anymore either. But I feel like I should probably do it sooner instead of later. I mean, I am just getting my ass handed to me lately. You got time tonight?
