MARCH EVENT LOG
FOUNDER'S DAY The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes. "Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love." I. At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city. At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city. At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic. "We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service." If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo. Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all. II. But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest. The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like. And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations. What's going on in these other places though? Well.... III. Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more. On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret. IV. Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more. Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round. Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it. V. Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest. It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions? VI. Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all. On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now. Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right? But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that. BONUS. Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops. The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself. Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee. Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. Best of luck, Retrospecters. Welcome to ![]() This will be a fairly lowkey month meant for travel, exploration and recouping from the last month's event! As of 3/3 all groups will ICly be back in the city. The event feedback post will go up on 3/4 along with information about the new world changes that may take place and the upcoming quest board. Any questions you have regarding this event may be directed to the mod comment here. |

[She said with a chuckle, approaching now, though stopping a respectful distance away. She had a sword, after all!]
It...well, actually, it was kinda like a fairy tale almost? There were dryads and glowing trees and a centaur, and this thing called the 'hunt.' Plus, laylines in the ground?
[Lillian just shook her head.]
Don't ask me to explain any of it, cause I barely even knew what was goin' on when I was there, but I'm thinkin' 'magical' is probably the word everybody's gonna use when they're talkin' about it.
no subject
Good thing somebody mailed me a sword or I'd say you were talking out of your ass with this magic thing. Wish this place would settle on a mythology, though. Can't have chimeras in the subway and then the Erlköning out in the woods.
[she glances over her shoulder at the sword.]
Pretty sure this thing's got a lot of iron in it. It's gonna be an act of aggression the second I step into that place. Think it's worth the risk?
no subject
[She shook her head, smiling.] I didn't believe it either till it happened to me.
[Hm. She glanced over at the sword. Oh yeah...]
Well, I don't remember them sayin' anything about metal when we were there but, that did come up in old stories huh? But there's definitely monsters out there, you don't wanna go without some kinda weapon.
no subject
[she gave Lillian a look. nothing seemed too off, so if she had any weird stuff going on—and of course, Anna had flown earlier in the week, so she wasn't a stranger to it—she couldn't tell. but she smirked all the same.]
Dear Penthouse, yeah? So what did you pull in the weird past life roulette?
no subject
[Lillian hesitated at that question, trying to figure out how to explain her Persona...]
It's...I guess kinda like I have a guardian angel?
no subject
[magically appearing swords and guardian angels. made some amount of sense, as much as anything else around here did.]
Probably easier to carry around than a sword if they're always with you or whatever. Can you control when it comes out, or is it just like a defense thing?
no subject
[Someday it would make sense. She assumed. Maybe.]
Uh. Sometimes? Still kinda gettin' the hang of it. I can try but you don't get to laugh at me if I botch it and nothin' happens, alright?
[She moved forther away from the trees, out into a clear. Okay. She'd done this a few times, she somewhat understood how it worked. Well, no, that was a lie, but she understood it worked at least, and that was enough.]
[She closed her eyes, concentrating, one hand brought up, hovering in front of her chest, and then she muttered a word...]
Persona!
[Suddenly the air behind her shimmered and a tall, floating woman appeared behind her, her long green hair flowing out in the wind, a swirling red energy dancing around her shoulders. After a few seconds, she lowered down to hover behind Lillian, reaching out to rest a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.]
[Lillian's eyes opened and she craned her neck to look up at her persona, then back at the woman, grinning widely.]
See?
no subject
I'd never laugh at a pretty lady.
[which she absolutely meant, but at least she could play it off like she was just giving her shit. and as she watched this whole... incantation, summoning ritual, whatever the hell happen and there was just a persona right there behind Lillian, Anna didn't really have much to say. eventually she'd stop thinking people were full of it when they were talking about weird magic stuff. and eventually she'd stop getting all excited and very slightly wide-eyed when she saw it happening in front of her.]
That's. Holy shit.
no subject
Yeah, holy shit is right, huh? She saved me from some monsters last month, now she shows up when I call...guess I'm kinda abusin' it a little since there's nothin' for her to do right now but...
[She hesitated, and reached out to take her personas hand, giving it a little squeeze. The persona bowed her head gratefully, then her gaze shifted to look at the taller woman nearby for a few seconds, before she shimmered and then faded away.]
Don't really think she minds much.
[ooc: Sorry about how late this tag is.]
no subject
She just showed up to protect you? That's pretty nice of her. Probably way easier to defend yourself with that, too. You run into any problems with, like, learning curves? Or do you basically have her figured out?
[maybe a little fucked up to be referring to a persona like a tool. but Anna didn't really have any other way of approaching it, after all.]
((no worries!!))
no subject
Figured out? No way. I can get her to show up but she pretty much does her own thing? I mean, we were fightin' a monster and she fought the monster too, so I guess in a way she was doin' what I want but..
[Lillian shook her head.]
I've seen other people's personas and they got way better control than I do. Or maybe control's not the right word. It's like...
[Lillian still didn't really understand personas, exactly. After a few seconds of thoughtful silence she just shrugged, looking a little bit embarrassed.]
Man, I don't know. You'd wanna ask other people about 'em, I think.
no subject
[as she heard the whole thing described, it more or less sounded like she got back this weird, cool power but no idea on how to actually use it. and that seemed to track.]
Seems a little weird to compare her to this sword that I have literally no clue how to use right, but it's probably the same thing. They like giving us stuff and seeing what happens.
[and to their credit, yeah, sometimes it had to be funny, but a lot of times... no, not really.]
Guess they're testing us or something. Seeing if we can figure out how to do stuff right before they trust us with doing anything else. Or... whatever they're trying to get out of us.
no subject
[She shrugged.]
Not sure I'd call it a test though. It's probably just that we haven't seen the memories that make 'em make sense? I mean...Mm..
[She hesitated.]
Just not sure I've seen enough from them to really give them credit for anythin' as complicated as that level of testin'.
no subject
[now that she thought about it, saying they're testing them implied a clarity of purpose she didn't want to attribute to anyone involved.]
Everything probably makes sense in context. Right now it feels like we're walking into a movie halfway through and asking everyone around us why that dude has a gun or whatever. Maybe we'll get the whole movie one day.
no subject
Or we'll just make up the bits we missed. I'm already doin' that, it's probably way better than the original.
[She looked over at the sword the woman had been holding earlier.]
So you got that from 'em, huh? Does it do anything?
no subject
[she smirked at the question, because she knew that was the least helpful answer she could've given.]
The engine block doesn't work as far as I can tell, unless what it's supposed to do is make the thing look like an ugly, imbalanced piece of shit. In which case it works perfectly. I think she might have had other swords? But I don't know a lot about that, except one of them maybe shot lightning or something.
Not sure I want to be the kind of person who collects swords.
no subject
The lightning thing sounds cool. And to be fair, there are a whole lotta worse things you could collect than swords.
no subject
[she had no clue if that was the kind of thing people collected, but why the hell not. it'd be like that one game series that she never got into with all the balls.]
'Cause that sounds like a pretty sweet collection if you can swing it. Bunch of girls popping out of nowhere to keep your ass safe and out of danger. Hell, you don't even need special summoning powers for that if you do it right.
no subject
I gotta agree, a collection of pretty, magical ladies sounds great. But I think I just get the one.
[She was still smiling from the laughter.]
At least, the way I understand it, havin' more than one persona's kinda weird. So, sadly, not collectin' them.
no subject
I guess that makes sense. Having more than one would definitely be the weird thing about them. [but she wasn't in any place to judge whatsoever, and likely never would be.] You could always just gather a bunch of pretty ladies who aren't ten feet tall. Doesn't seem like something you'd have a problem pulling off.
no subject
Probably not too hard. [And then she gestured at her.] And hey, here's one now! [Total serious face.] I should get started.
[Aaaaaand then she giggled. Whoops.]
no subject
Nice try. [and she managed to keep a straight face only as long as it took to say that. she didn't giggle, but she sure did smirk pretty powerfully.] You almost made it all the way through hitting on someone you just met. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.
no subject
Oh, you think I could? [Her hip cocked to the side, head tilted the other way as she smirked.] I guess that means I gotta practice more, huh? You volunteerin'?
no subject
We got nothin' but time right now. And if you're seriously looking for practice, might as well talk up someone who's been in the game for a grip, yeah?
no subject
[Still.]
But...you weren't actually plannin' on spendin' your whole day here flirtin', were ya? I mean, you must've come out here for a reason.
