MARCH EVENT LOG
FOUNDER'S DAY The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes. "Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love." I. At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city. At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city. At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic. "We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service." If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo. Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all. II. But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest. The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like. And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations. What's going on in these other places though? Well.... III. Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more. On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret. IV. Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more. Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round. Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it. V. Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest. It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions? VI. Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all. On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now. Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right? But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that. BONUS. Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops. The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself. Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee. Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. Best of luck, Retrospecters. Welcome to ![]() This will be a fairly lowkey month meant for travel, exploration and recouping from the last month's event! As of 3/3 all groups will ICly be back in the city. The event feedback post will go up on 3/4 along with information about the new world changes that may take place and the upcoming quest board. Any questions you have regarding this event may be directed to the mod comment here. |

That sounds very dramatic, but it's better than beating up some wolves for some gems. ]
Are you looking forward to being able to do that?
no subject
[her guard relaxes a little. physically and emotionally, apparently.]
I don't want to get that good at swordplay just to say that I'm good at using a sword. But if I have a reason to turn into a beast with that thing, then I'm fine with it. Protecting people I care about, killing things that need to be killed... I haven't figured it out yet.

[ Monsters aren't invading the city of Recolle, but they are lurking outside of it. ]
You don't have to decide what you do with your skills right away, but you should at least survive with them.
[ After all, you can't figure anything out if you're dead. ]
no subject
[not that she's much good at that anyway.]
But yeah. First I gotta take care of myself while all this shit is changing around me. New sword, new job, new me, or whatever B.S. saying you'd get stitched into a pillow. Gonna make this work and keep the people I give a shit about safe alongside me. Which is a pretty tiny list, but y'know. You're on it, so whatever.

Her eyes develop a sheen, and she frantically fans her face with a hand to keep from crying. ]
Oh... Anna....
[ She clears her throat. ]
I'm sure you'll succeed in your endeavors. What new job do you have?
no subject
Haven't actually gone through with it yet, but I'm looking into the same club Rose is at. She seems happy there.
[and that does get her to smirk and stiffen her guard up. she glances down at the backs of her arms, but doesn't say anything to spur Clover on.]
She was the first person on that list, then all the rest of you. Rose changed my life, too. You think I'm not gonna have your backs if shit hits the fan?
no subject
[ Clover doesn't approve of everything Majima does, but she knows he's not a bad person. ]
I don't know what I think. [ That's a lie. She's so used to only her and her sisters against the world that it's hard to think of other people caring for them like that. ] But... I'm happy you feel that way. You'll have my support, too, if the world decides to go crazy. Even if I still don't know how to fight, I'll come help you as best as I can.
[ She does have to wonder what Anna feels about Rose since she brought her up twice. ]
no subject
[her roommate is basically a nymphomaniacal sentient trash bag. and it was... better when he was on Retrospec, briefly. now he's just kind of the same way he always was. whatever, the point is she can handle it.]
Look, don't push yourself too hard on my account. [she's still got goals, presumably.] You got your own shit going on with your whole family and people you're way closer to. I'm fine just hovering around outside the Geteilt family for as long as you all keep putting up with me.
no subject
A stubborn line forms from Clover's lips, a stubborn furrow between her brows. ]
It's not putting up with you. It's not pushing myself. I don't want... I don't want to be that kind of person who can pick and choose who is and isn't important. [ She is that person deep in her heart and she knows that, and she hates herself for it. ] I want to be better than that. If... I'm... I can't abandon people who won't abandon me.
[ That would go against everything she stands for, even the darkest parts of herself. She can't be like her parents who left her to rot at the orphanage. ]
You're helping me. I want to help you, too. Please.
[ Don't let her turn into that monster in her memories who'd kill and let people die indiscriminately, no matter the words she sad. ]
no subject
Okay, you don't usually beg me for stuff. What the hell's going on, Clo?
[she has an idea, of course. because it's the easiest way to explain people acting strangely when she's known them for a few years. and Anna's guard relaxes again, and she puts her hands down her sides and takes a step closer. her face and voice have a rare sort of softness to them when she next speaks.]
You aren't her. You know that, right?
no subject
She shuts her eyes, too. She doesn't think Anna defaults to pity, but that soft quality she hears that's not usual or common from her... it makes Clover's defenses crumble a little. Anyone who tries.... ]
I'm not. I don't want to be, but there's no denying some similarities. I'm not completely like her, but what if I'm just fooling myself?
[ It's hard to draw a clear line when she's had one instance that she acted in a way that was too frighteningly similar. ]
no subject
I'm not good at answering deep questions like that. Never really have been. All I really know is that you still care... way too much about this disaster of a girl who broke your sister's heart half a decade ago. You could've jumped off this train whenever you wanted and been totally fine. You never had to talk to me again and your life wouldn't have been any different. But here we are.
[she reaches out a hand and tries putting it on Clover's shoulder, just to see how the idea of physical encouragement feels. and she really hopes it helps her point get across, because she's really not great at emotional encouragement.]
You've got way more good in you than you think. If you really are lying to yourself, I think you're buying it.
no subject
Or is it the worst thing because so many people think of her the way she craves to be thought of and she's not completely happy? ]
You're not a terrible person, and I'm not going to treat you like one.
[ If she had to choose between Rose and Anna, she'd choose Rose without a second thought, but until then, she thinks it's unreasonable to completely cut Anna out of her life. Rose isn't without flaws, and half a decade ago was a very rough period. ]
If I chose not to talk to you again, we wouldn't be having this conversation, and my life would be different without it. [ She hesitates. There really isn't any benefit for her to admit this, but— ] I'm.... I'm out here because I'm avoiding Rose.
[ There. She said it.
Clover's always lying to herself. It's only a matter of degree. ]
no subject
Are you two doing okay?
[it's a simple question, but it takes a lot of thought to actually figure out the best way to put it without sounding accusatory one way or another. god, who's she worried about accusing? sometimes sisters have problems. come on, girl, you should know this.]
no subject
[ Rose and Clover aren't fighting, but Zero and Four are. She's not Four and Zero is not Rose, but it's hard not to see Zero and Rose superimposed over the other when the flower is right there. The flower that she sees in her memories is right there in reality. It's hard to avoid, and it's easier for Clover to run away. ]
I've... remembered things, and I don't want to talk to Rose about it. Not... yet.
[ The chance that Rose would bring it up first is low, if they do share memories, but it's still not zero percent. ]
no subject
[she should've guessed. it's more stuff that she doesn't know about. sister stuff that she doesn't really have the right to be a part of. which she's fine with.]
Do you want to talk to me about it, or is it not the kind of thing you wanted to get into?
[even though Clover is the one who brought it up, she's going to give her another out all the same. it's just courtesy.]
no subject
I'm sorry. [ Spoken softly like it pains her. ] It's nothing I want to talk about right now. It scares me.
[ That much, she will admit. ]
no subject
It's fine. I get it. [she doesn't sound hurt. it's not a surprise to her. but while her tone is still soft, while they're still kind of like this and being regular people, instead of (at least in Anna's case) whatever front other people see...]
If you're still not ready to talk to Rose, promise me you'll at least talk to someone about it sometime? Me or Jasmine, or even Lina if you have to. [she could never get her head around Lina. the girl was too happy all the time. it was grating.] Don't just let it sit there if you can avoid it.
[listen to her talking about not letting things fester. great work there, Anna.]
no subject
All right. I promise. [ It's her best attempt at sounding sincere, but they're empty words.
Almost immediately, her guilt stabs her, and she amends: ] I promise I'll try.
[ She doesn't want to, though. ]
no subject
Thank you.
[she gets it. talking about things is hard when it's easier to just keep it to yourself and hope it smooths itself out later. not that she knows whether that's the case here, but it might not be too far off the mark. but regardless, her spine straightens and her stance gets a little less relaxed.]
Now do you want to mope here in the forest together, or do you wanna beat the hell out of my forearms?
no subject
I don't want to beat them that much, but improvement doesn't come to those who stagnate.
Ready?
no subject
[it's not a lot of help, she doesn't think, but she's always been better at getting out her emotions through action instead of talking about them, and maybe she thinks it's going to be the same way for Clover. maybe this'll help. maybe nothing will come of it.]
[if nothing else, she's getting the chance to spend time with someone who, for some reason, cares about her. and that's not a bad thing.]
no subject
She stumbles, the force of her punch too great for her to halt neatly. ]
Oh. I think moping might be a better option.
[ It's still a human strength punch, but her new skill is befuddling. ]
no subject
Yeah, shit. I thought you'd have more time, but you hit me with one of those now and I'll be walking back home in a sling. I guess mission accomplished, huh?
[that makes one of them. she'd love to learn how to use this thing out here tonight, but she's not going to fight Clover with an actual blade.]
Moping it is. Let's get emotional.
no subject
[ Although if she becomes more like the person in her memories, she may not need that precaution. ]
I think, for once, I understand the appeal of sleep after being overwhelmed.
