READY: START Team Tarzan roster: Anastasia, Ikuo Ryuuzaki, Jack Kelly, Kasen Ibaraki, Keigo Asano, Kurogane, Kurt Wagner, Silver, Yamatonokami Yasusada, Yaeger, Yosuke Hanamura, Yugi Mutou. The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city. However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of the monkeys howling... This is the Team Tarzan Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! ROOM 6

[insantafe]

[ As they walk in, the first thing Jack thinks is that they should've brought a torch. All these candles, and there's still no light. And then he sees the coffin and hesitates. ]

I swear, if we get dead people jumping out at us...

[ Against his better judgment, he approaches it with a grim expression. And he leans over slowly to peek in... and breathes a sigh of relief. No dead bodies - thank god. There's got to be something in here, though. Otherwise, what's the point of having a room here? Then he hears a noise, looks up, and groans. ]

Oh, no. You've got to be kidding me. We're supposed to chase down Dracula now?

[youraffection]

[ He's already tired of traveling into deep, dark holes. Seriously. Though the last time it was due to the fact he was about to get eaten and had to run for his life, so Yosuke might consider this a win if there is no giant crocodilian monster at the end of this tunnel. Hopefully. Please.

He follows in the dark, keeping one hand against the wall so he doesn't stray too far. Fanny the sentient desk fan hops beside him, though it seems to be staring directly at Jack. Yosuke doesn't pay it any mind--it's a fan. His little lizard buddy clings to his shoulder. ]

Hm?

[ Mimicking Jack, Yosuke squints and looks upward-- ]

Is that--

[ The light is dim thanks to the half-melted candles, but... ]

Ack!

[ The ceiling is alive with Yosuke's small shout, a wave of chittering and wriggling flowing across it into the depths of the hall.

Yosuke slaps a hand over his mouth. ]

[Kath is the last one in, watching her healing battery and meat shield companion's backs as she enters. She's still carrying the walking stick even if she doesn't need it, possibly to use as an impromptu weapon of some kind. She's still limping a little, but her leg is definitely treating her better than it did earlier thanks to Yosuke. Speaking of Yosuke, what did he just-Oh God.

Looking up, she stops, letting her eyes adjust to the dark, before letting them promptly widen in surprise. Yeah, thats a lot of bats, and its a bit stunning. She's not afraid of bats or disgusted by them, she actually finds them kind of cute; its just that there are just that many.

She shoots Yosuke a look as his actions draw a reaction from the colony, before looking back at Jack and whispering.] Whats in the tomb?

[insantafe]

[ They're all gonna need rabies shots by the time they get out of here, aren't they? Without taking his eyes off bats overhead, he shakes his head in dismay. ]

Nothing, except the dressings. The thing's empty.

[ Finally, he glances back at Yosuke and Kath, pointedly avoiding the fan that's somehow still staring at him?? ]

I don't suppose either of you has a net or something?

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke shrinks a little from Katherine's disapproving look. Yes, they're definitely going to need rabies shots. This can't be sanitary. There's no way this is sanitary.

He drops his hand, keeping his voice down this time. ]

What? No--! Besides, why do you think we need to catch them? They're probably crawling all over this place...

Do you think I could regain the memory of vampires existing with this?

[totallynotanoni]

[She'd feel the need to agree with Yosuke, if not for the fact that they have to be thorough in searching this place out. She wants to go home, and if that means dealing with bats, she'll deal with them.] I know it isn't exactly pleasant, but I don't think we should leave just yet. We haven't even searched the whole room yet.

[Though there probably isn't much more to search, honestly. She comes over to Jack's side, looking into the coffin. Yeah, looks pretty empty to her.]

[OOC: Swear to God, Vanilla Ice had better not be underneath us right now, I am not going to pull an Avdul.]

Take another look at our new friends up there.

[ Jack points up, squinting in the darkness before he spots it again. It's just a quick glance before the bat in question is gone again, but... ]

One of those bats up there is carrying something. I don't know what, but I figure it might be worth checking out.

i don't see why not!

[youraffection]

Huh?

[ He looks back up to the ceiling. It is hard to see, so Yosuke decides he'll just grab one of the candles and hold it up in the air, closer to the bats. And sure enough, there's something shining in the little furry claws of one of them. ]

Oh shit, you're right! It's kinda green and shiny. Do you think it fits in with the other holes on that altar?

[totallynotanoni]

[Kath sees it as well, and promptly lets out an exasperated sigh. Their really going to need those rabies shots by the end of this at this rate.]

We're going to have to catch it, aren't we?

[insantafe]

No way of knowing until we get the thing.

[ He frowns up at the swarm of bats, not sure where to go from here. How do you catch a bat without some kind of net? ]

If either of you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke lowers the candle and thinks.

Fanny, on the other hand, acts. It stops looking at Jack for long enough to turn its weird head up to the bats. The humans are in quiet contemplation. Fans don't have much to think about. All it knows is fanning things.

So...it does--

It turns itself on and sudden huge gusts of wind shoot up towards the bats, which subsequently causes them to screech and scatter. ]

Dammit!!

[Yup, definitely getting the rabies shots.

Kath has begun to patiently observe the bat's movements, even reaching out to test if she can catch one of the swooping ones and failing to do so. She's even beginning to notice that the piece might just be switching owners every now and then, possibly a pattern for them to exploi-And then Yosuke's fan-creature-thing (she's really preferred Aoi and Modeste over it, honestly) scatters them into a chaotic mass of swirly bat.

Why, Fanny? Just...why?]

Yosuke, keep your friend under control! [She returns her focus to the swarm, trying to get eyes on the piece again.] Do either of you see which bat has the piece now?

[insantafe]

Stop that thing, will you?!

[ And now that it's gone and stirred up the guys overhead, it's even harder to tell where that little piece of whatever-it-is. Jack keeps looking for it, but with the bats all swarming overhead, it's hard to make sense of anything, until he sees a glint reflecting from the candles. ]

Hey, there it is!

[ Too high to go after it now, but he points it out anyways. ]

[youraffection]

It's not my friend!!!

[ IT'S!! He has no idea why it even exists or why it's been following him all this time. It's been moderately useful thus far, but hey, if it keeps this up, it's going to wear out its welcome pretty fast. ]

Cut it out, will ya!?

[ He shouts at Fanny and gives it a bop on the...cage thing that holds the actual fan. At least it gets Fanny stop, but it does look like it might cry. ]

Shit, where??

[ Oh wait, he sees it! ]

Don't lose it! Maybe we can knock it out!

[She sees it just as Yosule does, and locks onto it through the swarm of bats...sort of. Its still hard to see, and she's pretty sure its gonna get exchanged again in a few minutes at this rate. There's just no way they can reach without stacking up on each other.]

Their too high up, there's no way to reach them. [Wait, there might be a way to remedy this. Kath turns around and begins trying to get up on the coffin.]

[insantafe]

[ The second he hears a noise, Jack's attention snaps from the swarm of bats to Kath as she tried to climb up on the coffin and he's at her side in a second. ]

Whoa, whoa, whoa! You want to break your other leg? If anyone's going to start climbing up there, it should be one of us.

[ He gestures between himself and Yosuke. ]

C'mon, I'm pretty sure I'm taller than both of you, anyways.

[youraffection]

[ He--hm. Yosuke wants to size himself up to Jack now. Is he taller? Yosuke wants to believe that he is...but the bats are swarming and he can save that measuring contest for a later time. But he does agree with Jack in that he doesn't want her to get hurt all over again. ]

We'd still need to grab it midair!

[ Yosuke really doesn't think that he'd have the reflexes for that. Maybe them, but... ]

Hey, wait a sec!

[ Lightbulb! ]

Maybe we don't need to--we don't have a net, but that--is the coffin empty? We could catch them in that!

I'm hopefully the lightest of us, so the coffin will be able to suppor- [She stops mid sentence as Yosuke interjects, and she listens carefully. A look of confusion comes over her face.]

Um, the coffin doesn't have anything but these old wrappings in it, but how would you get them down into the coffin?

[insantafe]

[ Jack frowns, looking from Yosuke to the coffin's dressings. ]

We could always take them off and use those as a net.

[ Is that how coffin dressings work?? It's been a long time since he's had to even look at any.

But with a glance back up at the bats, he adds, ] I'm not so sure our friends up there would like that, though.

[youraffection]

Well, of course they're not gonna like it--they're bats and we're trying to catch them.

[ He turns his attention to Fanny and bops it on the head again. ]

Hey, will you actually listen to me if I tell you where to blow?

[ Looking a little sheepish, Fanny nods. ]

Okay! See? We'll find the one with the glass and then we'll get it to blow it towards our net!

[totallynotanoni]

Hey, can we try not to stuff a bunch of bats in a coffin? [And she knows how dumb this sounds. She knows these aren't ordinary bats with how their acting, but its that bit of compassion that gets to the back of her mind again.] I'm fine with blowing the bats towards us, but I don't really see a reason for us to try to trap them like that.

[insantafe]

That's not what I- you know what? Nevermind.

[ An idea's an idea, so whatever. He's just getting ready to wrestle the dressings off the coffin when Kath speaks up again, eyebrows raising at her suggestion. ]

So what are you planning to do, then? Catch it right out of the air? Ask if it's willing to hand it over?

[ It's not like he'd been considering that last part, vampires and all. ]

[youraffection]

[ What. What? ]

They're just bats! They'll be fine! Besides, they totally have the upper hand here. And he's right, it's not like we can just grab them. What else are we gonna do--throw the lizard at it?

[ Said lizard licks its eyeball. ]

Whoops, totally misinterpreted a part of the plan there. Rolling with it.

[totallynotanoni]

[Its at this point she realized she may have jumped to a conclusion.]

Maybe I misunderstood what you said: I'm fine with putting them in the coffin to try and grab the glass, but I'm not fine with leaving them in there afterwards. [She looks into the coffin and back up with Yosuke. ] We can get the piece from them and then let them out.

[insantafe]

[ What. ]

We never said we'd leave 'em in there, just long enough to get that thing they've been passing around. Once we got that, they can fly around in circles as long as they like.

[ He shrugs and goes back to work on the coffin, gathering up the dressings and trying to work it into a decent enough net for this. It'll be tricky, but if they can make it work...

With any luck, these are just regular bats and not vampires just waiting for a chance to suck their blood, but if they are, it's too late for them. With a satisfied nod, he turns to Yosuke. ]
