Names scroll by on the screen. and look, there goes yours! It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up.

The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM ETHANOL as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point.

Team Ethanol's access point is in the Recollé Graveyard. Team members will find the grave of "G. Mahoney" will move aside to reveal catacombs so long as they approach it in groups of two or more team members. Only Team Ethanol team members can see or enter the catacombs at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they travel further down the tunnels.

This is the Team Ethanol Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!

[Hearing the tapping and the witch's outburst was encouraging; her companion hadn't fled, so there was still a small hope of salvaging this situation.]

Now, now. Where are your manners?

[The witch didn't even need to touch her to do...whatever party trick she just did, her only chance was flying to make herself a more difficult target. Another flutter-hop, and Amelia managed to propel herself haphazardly into the air.]

[Come on, you dumb witch, chase the birdie. Just turn your stupid back already!]

[ i mean she will start throwing fireballs at the bird? ]

[Great. A flaming death obstacle course is just what she needed on top of figuring out how to fly. And while being covered in highly-flammable feathers, no less.

Amelia banked erratically, circling closer to the witch and over her head, drawing her attention (and fire) up and away from the door. She didn't want to think about how much her arms would ache later; there was crackling fire skimming too close to her wingtips.]

[Okay, can't hide anymore, Amelia is going to die. Vera rushes out from the door, charging the witch from the side and delivering a hard thrust from her rapier.]

[ it's at least enough of a surprise to work. in a shower of flames, the witch disappears.

amelia is still a bird, though.

they may wish to look around for the heart. ]

[A single wingbeat, and fire no longer crackled at Amelia's scaly heels. She didn't trust herself to turn her head separately, so instead clumsily wheeled herself around in the air. The witch was gone, and only Vera remained. That was...well, it'd just have to do.]

That is that, I suppose.

[She's. She's still a bird. She's not changing back. Great. Wonderful.

There must be something in this room that could reverse this. In the corners? Near where the witch was standing?]

Oh shit, I just killed a witch.

[Take that, horrifying German fairy tales. Witches ain't tough shit after all. But her friend is still a bird, so there's that.]

Uh, right. Maybe there's a spell or a potion or something that can fix you. We need to find that other bird's heart too.

[She'll start searching for any books or documents that might outline the spells the witch was using.]

[ there don't seem to be any of those, but enough searching will reveal a metallic heart-shaped object? ]

[Like a child, wherever Amelia looked she started moving as well. There was a box, or container, or something not like the rest of the room. Amelia blustered down to it, landing clumsily and beak first. Nevermind that-]

Here!

[Her little claws rasp uselessly on the metallic case, or whatever it was. Thumbs probably required.]

Huh?

[Vera wanders over from the other side of the room, crouching down to pick up the heart-shaped object and Amelia along with it.]

I mean, it's heart-shaped, right? Maybe this is it?

[ well, it is a Heart! they may want to take it somewhere, or something. it doesn't seem to be a thing that can be opened. ]

[Amelia flapped her wings to keep her balance as she was picked up, clamping her beak on the urge to chitter about it. She was not an animal. Her dignity wouldn't allow that.]

Maybe that bird knows what to do with it.

Right. You know where he was, right? Do you want to lead the way, or should I just carry you and you can tell me where to go.

[ the bird was a girl, and waits back outside atop the mechanical thing she was on originally. ]

[Normally, Amelia would have insisted on walking herself. But this was not normal. Her feathers fluff up again before she wills them to flatten out again.]

...I can't fly very well like this. [She didn't do pushups.] I suppose you'll have to carry me.

[SHE GUESSES she'll...actually say thank you later. For now she readjusts her little feet on Vera's arm to try and get somewhere more comfortable and stable.]

Straight ahead on the path leading to this castle. The bird was standing on the first lump of scrap out there.

[Vera will follow Amelia's directions until they get back to where the bird was before!]

[ once there, the bird will speak again! ]

Oh! His heart, you found his heart! If you put it back...

[ the robotic thing she is standing on top of is presumably aina's brother, elais! ]

[The trip seemed much longer this time around. Maybe because Amelia was smaller?

When they arrived, any shocked disbelief that the pile of metal was in fact a person was suspended. She was a goddamn bird, this was one of the less ridiculous things she'd seen.]

Will that reverse--this?

[Amelia spreads her arms--wings, in emphasis. Sorry for the tiny claws in your arm, Vera, she didn't want to fall.]

[Ow ow ow ow]

Your brother is a robot? Is that because of the witch too?

[She crouches down, slowly as not to knock Amelia off of her, preparing to insert the heart back into the machine.]

No, we have always been robots.

[ AIna and elAIs, you see. ]

I do not know if it will reverse the bird spell...

Was the witch a machine as well?

[Amelia fell sullenly quiet again. When she piped up again, it was with as assertive a command as a small bird could manage, which...wasn't very intimidating.]

Put the heart back.

[Nothing ventured, nothing gained.]

[Vera would snap at her for telling her what to do, but the poor girl's already going through enough as it is.

So in goes the heart!]

[ and the room fades to stone scenery! three golden coins are produced: one for kaguya, one for amelia, and one for vera.

also, amelia is no longer a bird. ]
