Wizard Money [OPEN]

Derek had known for a while that Draco Malfoy, the boy he had seen in the memories, was loaded. But he never expect to see any of that money. Retrospec wouldn't be that kind would they?

I. The Blue Mailbox

[Derek is standing in front of the blue mailbox in Tisse staring at the bag that is inside the box.]

No way...

[Derek reaches in a picks up the bag. It's heavy and there are definately some coins inside. Derek pulls open the bag and peers in.]

HOLY SHIT!

[Inside are gold, siver, and copper coins! Derek looks arond to see if anyone has noticed his reaction.]

II. The Pawn Shop

[After thinking about it for a few days, Derek decides to take a few of the coins to a pawn shop to see how much he could get for them. The coins were solid gold, silver, and copper so he was pleasantly surprised to find out how much they were each worth. He tells the shop owner he won't sell them just yet, and pockets them. He exits the pawn shop with a slight bounce in his step. This money could really turn things around for him, Noah, and Sakura. His mind is reeling with the numbers of how much he could possibly get out of selling the coins that he doesn't realize that he runs into someone when stepping out of the shop.]

Oh, sorry. Didn't see you there!

[ well that was the opposite of what oda wanted to do or cause. he watches derek fumble and, instead of paying attention to the coins that fall, he focuses on derek himself.

his expression is one of concern, but he doesn't approach ]

[Derek look up at Oda and pauses. Does he say no? That'd seem a bit rude... uh... shit.]

If you must...

[Derek uprights the bag and points to it.]

Just put what coins you pick up in there.

[ oda almost raises an eyebrow at derek's answer. he doesn't have to do anything, he nearly says, but holds back.

instead, he nods and walks over. wordlessly, he bends down and begins to put the coins back in their bag, not really checking to see if they're real gold or silver or whatever.

What are these? Arcade coins?

[ look at that honest, confused look, derek. he is genuinely asking this stupid question. ]

[Derek pauses when he's about to pick up a coin and looks at Oda.]

You're kidding me right?

[Derek picks up the three different coins, holds them in his palm, and shows them the Oda.]

What arcade uses three different size coins for their machines? This, is wizard money.

It’s been forever since I’ve gone to one.

[ but wow.... wizard money. he takes a look at the coins and then nods. despite his mostly deadpan expression, he is actually a bit awed by this. ]

So you... were a wizard? That did magic and stuff?

I can do magic now, but yeah. He's this rich brat that goes to this wizard school called Hogwarts. I'm guessing this bag was his money... at least some of it.

[odasaku]

[ oda does take note of how derek seems to...not like his past self very much, but makes no mention of it. he's far more confused by all the other things.

he looks at the remaining coins on the ground, and continues putting them back in the bag. ]

It's kind of useless here if you can't use it. [ a pause ] What are you going to do with it now? Put it under your bed?

[blondferret]

[Derek shrugs.]

I don't know. Maybe take some to a pawn shop and get them appraised? These might be solid gold, silver, and copper, and that's worth something. At least... I hope so anyway.

[odasaku]

Huh...that makes sense. You could get a lot.

[ man oda wishes he was getting bags of gold coins. instead, he gets guns.

a pause. ]

What were wizards like, in your past life? [ he's never met a wizard before let him be deadpan excited ]

[Derek puts a few more coins back in the bag.]

Well, at the age of eleven they go to school. At least in England they do. They get a wand and they go to school for seven years to learn how to use their magic. So, they are responsible in that sense, but the teachers... [Derek lets out a snort.] not all the teachers are that competent.
