Wizard Money [OPEN]

Derek had known for a while that Draco Malfoy, the boy he had seen in the memories, was loaded. But he never expect to see any of that money. Retrospec wouldn't be that kind would they?

I. The Blue Mailbox

[Derek is standing in front of the blue mailbox in Tisse staring at the bag that is inside the box.]

No way...

[Derek reaches in a picks up the bag. It's heavy and there are definately some coins inside. Derek pulls open the bag and peers in.]

HOLY SHIT!

[Inside are gold, siver, and copper coins! Derek looks arond to see if anyone has noticed his reaction.]

II. The Pawn Shop

[After thinking about it for a few days, Derek decides to take a few of the coins to a pawn shop to see how much he could get for them. The coins were solid gold, silver, and copper so he was pleasantly surprised to find out how much they were each worth. He tells the shop owner he won't sell them just yet, and pockets them. He exits the pawn shop with a slight bounce in his step. This money could really turn things around for him, Noah, and Sakura. His mind is reeling with the numbers of how much he could possibly get out of selling the coins that he doesn't realize that he runs into someone when stepping out of the shop.]

Oh, sorry. Didn't see you there!

[Derek holds up a hand and takes a step towards his friend.]

Chill mate. I'm not in a financial turmoil, and if I was, well, I think I'm set.

[Derek reaches into his pocket and pulls out the galleon, sickle, and knut and shows them to Tatsuo.]

I got a bag filled with these coins form Retrospec. They are solid gold, silver, and copper!

[It was pretty difficult not to notice! Roji was just passing by, but Derek's shouting has caused him to come to a screeching halt, complete with a deer in the headlights sort of expression aimed right at Derek.]

[It’s enough to momentarily stun Roji with confusion at least. But soon enough his gaze wanders toward whatever Derek is unsubtly trying to hide.]

Oh... THAT... uh, I was just surprised by the item Retrospec gave me in the mail box. It's really nothing... just a bunch of pieces of metal.

Derek’s behavior doesn’t seem to ease Roji’s confusion all that much, and it’s pretty evident from his expression.]

Oh. I guess it didn’t really seem like “nothing”? You sounded pretty freaked out.

[...it’s really not his business to start theorizing, but he can’t help it with how strange Derek’s acting.]

[Derek waves a hand, dismissing what Roji said.]

Not freak out, just.. surprised. Haven't you ever been surprised by what Retrospec has sent you?

[ oda's was going to continue his life as normal until he heard derek's loud reaction. but now, with a mix of curiosity and concern, he's going to get a little closer to derek. ]

[Derek looks at Oda and starts to panic. Shit, is this something he should let others see? Derek starts to fumble with the bag to move it behind his back when it slips from his grasp and fall to the ground, coins spilling out.]

[Derek kneels down and starts desperately shoveling the coins back into the bag.]

[ well that was the opposite of what oda wanted to do or cause. he watches derek fumble and, instead of paying attention to the coins that fall, he focuses on derek himself.

[Derek look up at Oda and pauses. Does he say no? That'd seem a bit rude... uh... shit.]

[Derek uprights the bag and points to it.]

Just put what coins you pick up in there.

[ oda almost raises an eyebrow at derek's answer. he doesn't have to do anything, he nearly says, but holds back.

instead, he nods and walks over. wordlessly, he bends down and begins to put the coins back in their bag, not really checking to see if they're real gold or silver or whatever.

[ look at that honest, confused look, derek. he is genuinely asking this stupid question. ]

[Derek pauses when he's about to pick up a coin and looks at Oda.]

You're kidding me right?

[Derek picks up the three different coins, holds them in his palm, and shows them the Oda.]

What arcade uses three different size coins for their machines? This, is wizard money.
