TEAM ONE EVENT LOG

PESGARE
READY: START.

Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean.

Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare.

Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside.

The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around.

Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here.

It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this?

It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment.

Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you?

This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team.
If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well.

The schedule for Team One is as follows:

(apollo opts to remain quiet during the rather alarming exchanging mao and ritsu are having. he doesn't even want to know why they're debating something drowning, and he severely hopes it won't be himself.

apollo listens intently to the instructions, going over the controls in his mind as many times as it takes until he's sure he at least has the gist of it. of course, he's still horribly nervous, knowing that if he falls off even once, he might as well be good as dead. he stares out at the choppy, rough waves, and he just has to hope he doesn't suddenly get seasick.

he stumbles awkwardly as he sets himself on one of the jet skis, almost completely falling off, but managing to balance himself at the last second.)
We'll be fine! I'm sure the fishermen will be able to help us if we get to them!

(because who knows if they will...)

I've rode them...like twice ahaha but i dont remember much

Right, You won't let me live it down if they drown.

[He wasn't wrong in that sense. When given a life vest, he slips it own before looking at the machine before them and takes the key. This could go well...or terrible who knows.

Red eyes looking to Apollo then Mao, he mounts the machine and starts it up with a hum.]

twice more than me

[personal profile] chuusai 2018-03-02 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ Mao cannot roll his eyes hard enough. ]

Look, nobody's drowning! Unless we take any more time getting out there...

[ He starts his own watercraft up too, gripping every part of it way too tightly, and begins to inch forward until it's clear to the sailor that's leading them out that the party is ready to go.

Or as ready as they're going to be. None of them have his confidence and the waves aren't helping in the least, but they've got to at least try. ]
justchords: (AND REASON TWO IS FUCK DUAL DESTINIES)

i water-skied once and wiped out in 2 seconds

[personal profile] justchords 2018-03-02 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
(apollo is beginning to question if teaming up with strangers was the best course of action. strangers who don't know what they're doing and seem to have a penchant for bickering only makes it worse.

but either way, apollo is stuck in this mess, so he might as well make the most of it and do what help he can. the water looks rather intimidating to him, especially how the waves seem almost ready to attack. no time to think on that, however, once the sailor gives them the go ahead to ride out to their designated boat in need of rescue. apollo tentatively revs up his vehicle, yelping when it suddenly lurches forward.

he's... probably got this.)
We can't drown! If we drown, the sailors will be stuck out there. We're fine, we're fine! (they're not fine.) If we just take it slow at first to get used to the controls, it'll be fine!
strayknight: (pic#11533800)

Oh no!

[personal profile] strayknight 2018-03-02 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He just wants some kind of rise from Mao and he's getting it.

His turn to shrug as he turns the handle and the skidoo takes off as he speeds towards them. Might as well get there quick then they can get out of there before the storm gets worse. Especially since it didn't seem to be getting better with the weather.]
chuusai: (and the critics will test you)

yeah i just swim, i am not coordinated at all

[personal profile] chuusai 2018-03-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ At least on the water it's too loud for them to bicker any more. Ritsu got his rise, sure, but they have more important things to do, or at least Mao does: not losing their guide in the storm. He stays behind the sailor and off to one side, avoiding his wake (not that it really makes a difference) but he's quiet until he has to raise his voice above the storm. ]

Are those the lights from the boat?
justchords: (FUCK GET THE FUCK OUT OF TOYLAND)

same, swimming is way more relaxing

[personal profile] justchords 2018-03-02 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
(apollo looks like he's about to die at any second, gripping the steering bars for dear life and muttering "i'm fine" and "objection" any time he hits even a small wave. why he did this, no one knows.

once mao cries out to ritsu and apollo, he rubs rainwater out of his eyes, squinting towards the small gleaming dots in the water. he gives a thumbs up as a signal that he both heard mao, and agrees with him.)
I think so! We just get one sailor for each of us, right?
strayknight: (pic#11533760)

I like swimming but skidoos are fun

[personal profile] strayknight 2018-03-02 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Ritsu has very little fear at this moment, he was enjoying this right now actually. This is fun if it wasn't for the storm.

Speeding up a little more he starts to slow down not wanting to make a lot of wake with the waves.]

Think so...
chuusai: (pic#11530505)

snow is never fun

[personal profile] chuusai 2018-03-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ At least one of them is. Mao feels a little more confident now, but he can also see the way the lead sailor starts to slow down. They have to be more careful in here for sure; the knock of something solid bumping into his jet ski makes him even more mindful.

Mindful and disappointed in himself for not thinking to bring a light or something to make this easier. ]

Be careful in here, guys! We can't be sure where they are!
justchords: (GASP AND SHOCK)

i'm in bay area california, snow doesn't exist here

[personal profile] justchords 2018-03-02 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
(apollo feels absolutely relieved once they begin to approach the boat, similarly wishing like mao that he brought some sort of light along this ride. visibility is low in the darkness and rain, so he slows down to try and get a good look at what he can.

that doesn't really amount to much.)
How are we supposed to get their attention? Just yell and hope they come out?
strayknight: (pic#11533762)

We get either a little or a huge amount here.

[personal profile] strayknight 2018-03-06 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Ritsu watches Mao but turns when it might be noticed but when Apollo mentions getting attention, Ritsu looks around the water craft.]

Maybe a whistle?
chuusai: (and the critics will test you)

[personal profile] chuusai 2018-03-09 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ Their debate is cut short when their guide, who clearly gave this more thought than any of the civilians helping, fires a flare that arcs up and over the boat, briefly illuminating their position on the water and giving the sailors an idea where they are. A moment later, first one, then a second, a third, and a fourth small red light appear on the water around the ship. Their guide informs them that those are the lights on the life jackets.

That's a lot easier than Mao was expecting, that's for sure. ]

We can probably go closer one at a time so they don't have to swim, but we can't take too long.

[ Even though the boat isn't remotely near the size, Mao can't help thinking of the end of Titanic and the way the water churned around the ship as it sank. (He'll thank Miyamura for that later.) It's not a situation he wants to try to ride out on a jet ski. ]
justchords: (YOU SUCK AND THIS IS WHY)

[personal profile] justchords 2018-03-13 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
(well, apollo is grateful at least one person on this trip came prepared. then again, they all probably should have put more thought into this, at least more than jumping on some water craft and venturing into the ocean with hardly any semblance of a plan.

the guide is at least there to... well, guide them. once the directions are given, apollo at least feels a little more secure in their situation. they have a plan. a very simple plan. get the people stranded on the boat onto the water craft, get them back to shore.

way easier said than done.)
We should let the guide go first, follow his lead.
strayknight: (pic#11534139)

[personal profile] strayknight 2018-03-15 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Ritsu lets his own ski settle down as he watches Mao and Apollo. It was hard to tell but he was taking more notes of what was happening around them. The roughness of the waves and how the lights were moving and if any seemed to be moving more than others. When he spots one moving a little more frantic Ritsu is keen to point it out.]

He needs to be picked up, he's panicking.

[Most times you panic in water you pull others under with you.]
chuusai: (pic#11530505)

[personal profile] chuusai 2018-03-23 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Mao's perfectly happy to let the sailors swim out to them but when Ritsu points it out, his eyes do spot the sailor who is struggling more than the others. The other lights are spreading out away from him, at least, but he's not making nearly as much progress as he probably needs to in order to get rescued. ]

Hey! Just stay calm, we're coming...

[ Even when he tries to yell, Mao's voice is lost in the wind and the sailor isn't struggling any less. Sighing, Mao starts to edge his jet ski forward. It's awkward and jerky but it's getting him closer. ]

You guys try to get the other guys, I guess I'll see if I can get closer to him.
