TEAM ONE EVENT LOG

PESGARE
READY: START.

Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean.

Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare.

Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside.

The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around.

Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here.

It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this?

It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment.

Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you?

This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team.

R-right!!

[How does he get caught up in these messes? Ugh...

But he can’t flake out now, and he boards the boat alongside Sora, looking nervous as ever. The ship that they’ve set out to rescue is apparently being harassed by birds, but that’s the least of their worries right now. Atsushi helps to steady the boat, terrified of either of them falling overboard.
]

Let’s...do our best.

[At least his rain slicker is helping to keep him dry.

The closer they get to the boat the more birds appear, and Atsushi has to wonder how they’re going to chase them off.
]

U-um...do you have a plan?
destiny_key: (Er...)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-24 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sora pushes his sopping hair out of his face, his own raincoat only keeping him semi-dry, helping to row as best he can. Some of his earliest memories were being out in boats just like this, but he can't ever remember being out in such awful weather. He squints up at the birds swarming over the larger ship like bees, wondering what could have possibly caught their attention.

He looks back and forth between them and Atsushi.
]

Um... Uh... Not really. I guess I thought we'd have one by the time we got out here.

[The fisherman tsks at Sora's negligence, but keeps rowing them closer. Sora just grins sheepishly.]

Well, um... I guess we should start by figuring out why those birds are attacking. So we can get them to stop.

Probably fish. The storm might’ve knocked some of the fish barrels over and the birds see it as a free meal.

[Several times the waves hit the side of the boat so hard that Atsushi is afraid they’re going to capsize, but eventually they get close enough to board the boat, and just as expected, there’s several barrels of spilled fish all over the deck. Looks like they’ll need to clean that up first...]

These probably aren’t any good anymore...

[Atsushi reaches down to grab one of the fish, and is immediately slapped in the face with its tail. Ah. They’re all still alive.]

Ughhh...let’s just throw them back.

[And now birds are swooping on them, but Atsushi manages to toss several more fish overboard on his own. The sooner they get it cleaned up, the sooner they can go about their business.]
destiny_key: (!!!)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-25 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Clamoring up onto the boat after his partner, Sora can't help but wrinkle his nose a bit at the smell before beginning to toss the fish overboard. It's slow going, and it feels like every time he goes to grab a fish, he gets attacked by the birds.]

We're never gonna get anywhere at like this. We gotta think of something else.

[Another bird tries to peck at his head, and he swats it away in frustration. The storm is growing worse, as are the waves, and at this rate, they'll never make it back to shore. If only the birds would stop...

Suddenly, it's like a lightbulb goes off in Sora's head. He grabs a push-broom from an alcove he saw earlier, and shoves it at Atsushi before summoning his Keyblade to his hand.
]

I have an idea, but we're gonna have to be quick. You ready?
beneathmoonlight: (Awe)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-02-25 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
H-huh??

[One second he’s handling slimy, gross fish and dodging angry birds, and now he’s wielding a broom with a very confused look on his face. And is that...a key-shaped sword?? What?? How did Sora just summon it out of thin air like that?? What is going on??

But there’s no time to flake out right now. The storm is getting worse, and the birds aren’t going to let up anytime soon. Time to focus!
]

Um, okay!

destiny_key: (stop!)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-25 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Honestly, Sora has no idea if this is even going to work. He hasn't been practicing, and last he checked his grasp on this spell was still a bit wobbly. But he has to at least try.

He nods at Atsushi, and then readys the Keyblade, focusing all his power into it and up towards the swarming birds.
]

Stop!

[The burst of light that flashes is brief, but when it fades, the cawing of the seagulls has lessened considerably. Looking up, a great handful of the birds have stopped in midair, as though frozen in time. Sora didn't quite manage to get all of the birds, only maybe a third, but all the ones in this area of the boat have stopped at least.

He has no idea how long it'll last, though, so he looks back at Atsushi again, then starts hurling the fish off the side of the boat again as fast as he can go.
]

C'mon! Use the broom to push them off, I dunno how long this'll last.
beneathmoonlight: (Awe)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-02-25 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[You think that Atsushi would be used to seeing spells and weapons by now, but no. His mouth hangs open, slack-jawed, as he watches Sora freeze time in a small area, effectively putting a stop to the birds’ assault. That’s...so cool...his eyes are shining with admiration...]

O-okay!!

[Atsushi snaps out of his awe to do as Sora says, pushing the fish off the side with a broom, and with the two of them working together it goes much faster and smoother. In fact, they’re able to clear the deck with ease, and the pouring rain washes away the scent of the fish, giving the birds no further reason to swarm the ship.]

It worked!! Now we just have to lead the ship back, right? Is there a captain onboard this one?
destiny_key: (hmm...)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-26 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Normally, Sora might be a bit embarrassed at the attention, admiration of his abilities not a look he's used to seeing. But they have a job to do, and there's no time to be sheepish about this. The rain is picking up again, after all, as well as a thin fog that covers the surface of everything.

At least the deck is clear, now, though the birds are still circling overhead like they're unsure of this new development.
]

I'm sure the captain's gotta be somewhere. It's not a big boat...
beneathmoonlight: (Adorable blush)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-02-26 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. I’ll go look for him and tell him what’s going on.

[And Atsushi does, and is greeted by a very grateful crew that had taken to huddling below deck to wait out the storm. He informs the captain that the birds have been dealt with, and that the storm and fog are the remaining obstacles. The captain agrees to try steering back to shore, but the fog is only growing thicker...

Atsushi meets back up with Sora, heaving an exasperated sigh.
]

Well...one problem solved. But we can’t exactly control the weather. [A beat.] Maybe we could guide the ship by heading out in the little boat first? Unless you have light magic...

[That would be too easy.]
destiny_key: (yeah...)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-26 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
No, sorry. That was, uh, actually the only spell I know.

[Maybe he should be working harder at that...

Well, that's a later problem. Right now they need to get going. Sora looks around the boat, wondering how they're going to get back to the harbor. The birds are still cawing overhead.
]

Um... Well, it might be best to attach this boat to the little boat, and, like, tow it back, I guess? The little boat'll be easier to tell where we're going, I think.
beneathmoonlight: (Eh wot)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-02-27 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! That’s okay, I don’t know any at all, so...

[That sounds like the best bet, and Atsushi communicates that to the captain before helping secure the little boat to the ship via some incredibly sturdy rope. Hopefully it’ll hold...they don’t have chains or anything.]

Okay. Let’s try this.

[Now they just have to steer the little boat through the fog. Atsushi will alternate between being a lookout and helping steer the boat.]

Let’s hope for smooth sailing.

destiny_key: (how dare)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-02-28 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sora can only nod in reply, all of his energy and focus going into helping the fisherman in their tiny boat steer and row. The waves are getting rougher again, and their progress through the water is slow and shakey. Even the water is beginning to splash into the boat a bit, though it's not enough to be a problem beyond soaking all their shoes.

Well, it's not like they weren't already soaked anyway.

They can see the shore ahead, just visible through the encroaching fog, but at this rate, they have a while to go before they reach it. Sora's hands are beginning to chafe with the effort of it, and he can already tell he'll be sore all over tomorrow. But they're making progress, and that's what's important.
]
beneathmoonlight: (Idea!)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-03-02 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I can switch off with you if you want...

[Atsushi offers, because they’re very close to shore now. The water is still choppy, and the fog thick, but they’ve come this far, and it’ll only take a little more effort to get there.]

I could use a trip to the beach now, haha.

[A tropical beach, not this dreary nonsense.

Eventually they get to shore, and while there’s still more work to do, they’ve achieved their goal of saving the ship. Atsushi exits the boat as soon as they hit land, offering Sora a hand up just in case he’s a bit wobbly from the ride.
]

It was nice working with you, Sora-kun.

[Atsushi smiles, though he looks exhausted.]

If you want to be friends after this, I would like that a lot.
destiny_key: (yeah...)

[personal profile] destiny_key 2018-03-03 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sora huffs and puffs with the strain of rowing, and can only nod mutely at Atsushi's offer. It's only a little more to go, anyway, so he swiftly switches with his partner so he can collapse into the spare seat. Forget tomorrow, he's sore right now.

As they reach the shore safely and tie the two boats up to the dock, Sora gratefully takes the hand extended to him to help him up. Atsushi's statement kind of takes him off guard, though.
]

I thought we were already friends.

[A pause.]

I mean, like, we've done this whole adventure together, y'know? So, I think that already makes us friends, doesn't it?
beneathmoonlight: (You're embarrassing me)

[personal profile] beneathmoonlight 2018-03-03 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Atsushi blinks a few times before giving Sora a big, warm smile. He’s so used to having to work for his friendships that having one freely offered like this comes as a very pleasant surprise.]

You’re right. I’m glad to hear you think so too.

[They both may be exhausted and soaked to the bone, but Atsushi feels incredibly warm and happy all the same.]

Let’s get back to the inn. Everyone else must be wondering where we are.
