PESGARE
READY: START.

Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean.

Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare.

Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside.

The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around.

Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here.

It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this?

It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment.

Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you?

This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team.

Recolle Police Rescue Time: Togusa / Potemkin

Togusa's feeling about this village, the way everyone is coming together to help each other, is driven home as soon as there's trouble. The storm is starting to pick up, and all of the boats on the harbor are starting to pitch in to help each other out.

Togusa finds himself recruited by a harried fisherman, "There's boats out there, we need more hands on if we're going to guide them in to port!" He doesn't hesitate for a second to get on board.

He's surprised but somehow not surprised to see a colleague also helping where needed. He tries in vain to pull the hood of his rain poncho over his head more, before he waves a hand in greeting to Peter. "I'm glad these guys know what they're doing, I can't see a thing out here."

Peter grunts as he works, loading the gear of the boat and putting his back into securing it through the rain pelting down on everything. He knows that nature is only going to fight them harder when they get closer to the storm itself, so he brushes off the rain as only the warm-up.

He looks up once he's started to place his own butt into the ship. "They can cover sailing. We need to be there for rescue and coordination."

Togusa nods emphatically. "Agreed. And here everyone thought Joanne wasn't talking about a literal storm when she described this."

Although he isn't nearly as strong as Peter, Togusa is quick to load gear where he can. Whoever actually owns this boat is throwing out orders, since this is less of a formal crew, and more a collection of anyone the man could grab to get on board. Togusa just falls into a pattern of following orders, even if he doesn't know precisely what something is for.

Finally, the order comes, "Get towards the inside. We'll take off soon."

Peter is already near the heart of the small, improvised lifeguard boat, and he snaps to following orders easily, even though he's not any more familiar with this exact situation than Togusa is. Something about it just seems to come naturally to the man.

From his fishing trip to this, Peter's given up a long time ago on staying try. He stands on the deck waiting, only wanting to get out there first.

"Hmmph. Hopefully we're fast enough to arrive before things turn for the worse."

As usual, Peter cuts right to the heart of the matter. It puts a grim, determined look on Togusa's face as he moves to the middle of the boat and sits, it'll be easier for him to keep his balance.

A hush falls over the deck of the ship as they speed out into the water. All eyes are peeled for movement, a tense anticipation can almost be felt in the air, ready for any change.

The waves get significantly rougher as they get further out, leaving Togusa gripping the back of his seat tightly to keep from being thrown around. A long, slow breath out, and he shoots Peter a worried look. "The hell did we just get ourselves into?"

Peter is wrangling with the effort at staying in his seat as well. Waves belt against the boat and make themselves felt across the entire vessel's body. At some bumps, Peter seems more shocked at the boat moving underneath instead of the storm itself. But he stretches to keep his head raised, to clear his head over enough to always see the ocean and the horizon, but even that becomes a hard goal to make as the water rips with waves.

"Whatever it is, we have to deal with it now! This ship must be far off course."

As unforgiving and dark as the water looks when he stares out to sea, when Togusa takes the time to glance behind them, it's that perspective that lets him appreciate that lighthouse. They get to the boat safely, they should be able to guide it back easily.

Their own speed slows, and Togusa takes a deep breath, standing up to head towards the deck. One of the other people on board is flashing a light to catch the boat's attention. Togusa can spot the arm waving in return. "Looks like they're okay." No small relief there.

As Peter expected, the way the other boat is facing is completely opposite to theirs. "Thank God they didn't go even further," Peter admits a tiny amount of relief, while not relaxing or acting any less serious when they're not technically done with the rescue.

"Now that they see us, they just need to follow our lead."

It takes several tense minutes for both the boats to wheel and face back towards the shore. Togusa hadn't even noticed the fog thickly rolling in until he was back on deck, and it's as if the world disappears from around them. It is harshly disorienting, and now he can see how what seems like a simple problem could be so bad.

Togusa and Peter get handed more lights, if this boat is going to be a guide, it needs to stand out as much as it can. Once everything seems in order, both boats slowly start to head back towards the land, following the giant light in the distance as their marker.

A few of the men are going back and forth between shining their lights out, to give the other boat a track, and shining down into the water. Togusa follows suit, at first not sure what he's looking for, until he spots the first large rock, far too close to the boat. "Whoa!"

Just like that, the fog turned the rescue trip into an alien one, an almost completely different journey than the one from where they came. It's unfortunately vindicating to Peter's attitude of never acting like they were finished early.

Peter looks over the deck, by one of the fixed lights. He becomes too focused on the boat, as if it could slip through their sight and be lost again, so he spins around when Togusa yells.

"Watch out! The other vessel needs to cross here too!"
