TEAM ONE EVENT LOG

READY: START. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare.  Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. [He asks, expecting and curious. It may seem like a lot to expect from a young law student, but Peter is placing his trust in Apollo's abilities in good faith.
The assistant leaves to check on the subject of their inquiry, which gives Peter and Apollo some time to themselves. Peter turns to face Apollo entirely.]
Apollo Justice, wasn't it? My name is Peter Hoboken. I would shake your hand, but I'm sorry, I currently have a problem that would interfere with that.

he stands up straight to greet his ally, a smile on his face that soon turns to a quizzical look of sorts.) Yes, that's me. Ah, are you okay? Do you need medical attention before we deal with this?

[It asks a lot out of Peter to say that without missing a beat. But he wants to be honest to his teammates, when they have a break like this.]

(but he realizes how... well, stupid that must sound. it might not even be something peter is inherently fond of, and apollo isn't sure if what he just said is a slap in the face or not.) B-But I really appreciate you looking out for me! It's very considerate of you.
(moments later, the secretary returns, mildly frazzled, but indicating for apollo and peter to enter, as the mayor has given permission to meet with them both.) Let's go see what all the fuss is about, huh?

[Out from Peter is a series of noises that come one after another, as the workings of his brain get halted by embarrassment. He doesn't know how to react to that, but it's because he can't say Apollo is wrong.]

[Peter is relieved for multiple reasons when the secretary comes back. He switches course as soon as he is able.]

(apollo has to reel himself back a bit, before he becomes too much of a nerd in front of peter. sure, he has a love of superheroes and comic books, but he can't exactly lose focus right now.
they follow the secretary to the mayor's office, where a rather important looking man stands behind a desk. he greets them cordially, offering them a seat and welcoming them as mayor, as well as asking what he can do for them.) Sir, my name is Apollo Justice. This is my friend, Mr. Peter Hoboken. We... well, we actually wanted to know what's going on. And if there's anything we can to do help?
(apollo glances up at peter, giving him an opportunity to add any requests he may have.)

[The official seems slightly confused at these two, but their directness means that realization hits him that there's no point in doing the formality of pretending he doesn't know what people are talking about.]
"Our town is being politely pushed against a wall. That gentleman is offering to purchase and 'liberate' us out of ownership, and on the other end we have the lifeblood of our village."

but he can't just jump in yet. he needs to know more about what's going on. his face scrunches up in thought, a finger being pressed to his forehead.) Do you know who he is? Or why he's doing this? We've only been here a short time, but it doesn't seem like you need "liberating" from anything, right, Peter?

"He's a very respectable man," the look on the mayor's face even while speaking shows that he's aware of how strange this sounds. "He's incredibly rich, an established businessman with multiple successful vacation enterprises, and has all the paperwork in order."

(apollo listens to the mayor explaining things intently, his eyes squinting in thought as he sorts through everything. a rich businessman mainly focusing in vacations and the like as his business... wants to buy out a small harbor village.
apollo isn't even a fully fledged lawyer yet, but he can still smell the bullshit from this idea.) So what, he plans on turning this place into another vacation getaway? How did he even manage to get all this paperwork so easily? Buying out an entire village isn't something you just do.

"He just came over here with just that." A sigh, showing just how happy he was to see that.
"If he has the legitimate approval from the owner of the harbor in writing, then it's as good as done, regardless of how surprising it is."

but there's a hook there, something for apollo to focus on intently. if everything is as against this man as they sound, then surely the owner of the harbor would be against it, as well.) What form of approval did he get? A signature? A video or voice recording? Has anyone spoken to the owner of the harbor to attest to this?

"He hasn't been contacted, but even if he protested why would we take one form of his word over another?"
[Peter thinks while listening to both the mayor and Apollo, and the exchange about the line of approval that must go through.]
A way of taking back someone's word...there would need to be something that questions its legitimacy itself. [Peter turns to Apollo.] If this paper did come out of nowhere, the real source would be the man himself.

the more that's said, the more apollo has a sinking feeling about all of this. no one bothered to check if the signature was legitimate, and even worse, no one has even asked the owner of the harbor. his face grows grim as the possibility becomes more and more evident, crossing his arms as he thinks long and hard over this.) Because one form might not be his actual word.
(if there's even a single reason to think this entrepreneur has forged a document in any way, apollo has to take that chance to investigate with peter. and he shares a knowing look with peter as he can tell they both came to a similar conclusion.) It's possible this man may have forged the document as well as the signature.

(it's like the "don't do drugs" for lawyers. don't present forged evidence, you'll lose your career and maybe go to jail, it's a slippery slope for a lot of illegal things.) Have any of the documents been examined for evidence of forgery?

[As the village leader seems to find that possibility even more unlikely, Peter closes his eyes and shrugs, like the task he's been doing has been done.]
