READY: START. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare. Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. I better be! I was the first one to see them so I want stay at the top of the list. And just text first or superpowers or not, my mom's gonna call the cops.

[ And she still has a lot of them on speeddial so that'll go badly. Also he can hear you laughing, you know!! It gets Mao to laugh too, though. Hard to stay embarrassed when they're both making the same jokes. ]

I'll forgive you if you do but try not to hit my hair, OK?

[ He's lucky in that the lower ladder is a proper painter's one with a ledge for his tray; a brush is one thing but trying to use a roller with no support is a recipe for wearing a ton of paint. Mao pours some paint into his tray and starts up his ladder. ]

You're first in line for everything, even above my cousins. Feel proud! And I'm more worried about Misaki going after than me than your mom....

[Not that she isn't a threat of her own, as much as Izumi likes her. Thankfully, it looks like he won't have to worry about that anytime soon. From what he can tell, he's just a normal high schooler both here and in his memories.]

It wouldn't be so bad, since we can just jump in the water. But I'll try not to.

[Once he reaches the top of the ladder, he sets the tray down on the topmost flat part and keeps his feet on the rungs. He's pretty sure he's going to ruin this shirt with paint, but it's not the first time it's happened, so he doesn't try to be super careful as he dips his brush in the paint and starts with a broad stroke. Top to bottom.]

Once Ritsu gets here, I think we'll be able to make some real progress.

[The message from Mao made him believe they could have some time to hang out so he was more than eager to go. Labor wasn't something he enjoys but with everything it sounded a lot better than some other choices.

Dressed in some loose clothes he makes his way only to arrive and see the other boy up on the ladder. There was a moment where he looks the boy up and down before he catches himself and looks to the side. Who was this guy anyway?

After a moment he shouts up to Mao.]

Looks like Maakun has help already?

[chuusai]

[ Hanging out is a relative term; Mao's kind of hanging on his ladder, is that close enough? But regardless, he knew he'd have to gently persuade Ritsu into working rather than asking outright. He's still glad to see Ritsu when he shows up, though, and he waves down to him with a smile. ]

More hands make less work, Ricchan. Can never have too much help.

[With his hair tied back into a ponytail, Izumi actually has peripheral vision for once, and glances to the side when Ritsu makes his appearance. He can't wave too much, given that he has a brush in his hand and is using the other to support himself on the ladder, but at least he's smiling as well.]

There you are, Ritsu! Hey, have you ever painted before? With the three of us together, I think we can make quick work of this!

[strayknight]

[It looks like they were already busy with work and it makes him curious if Mao was with this guy as he texted him. For now he just stares at the two of them and then the ladder.]

How do you want me to help?

[There is a curious tone to his question.]

A little yeah...

[chuusai]

[ Sorry if you're unhappy about it but he was definitely with Izumi and has been all morning. Early bird gets the Mao, or something like that. Regardless, though, Mao's pleased now. He looks about a little at the ground below them. Hmm... ]

You can probably start working at the lowest part if you want? Just grab another pan and a roller or a brush and we'll try not to drip on you.

Yeah, you can start wherever you want! We don't have primer or anything, so just try to keep the coat even.

[For better or worse, Izumi doesn't see the problem with that. He and Mao are together all the time anyway, so it makes sense that they'd tackle something like this together too! Of course, he doesn't mind Ritsu joining in either, since he's a friend of Mao's. But Ritsu doesn't seem super fond of him, so he's trying to be extra friendly.]

Did you want us to change the lightbulb at the end? I think that might be easiest, since it won't interfere with the wet paint.

[strayknight]

[Ritsu shouldn't be annoyed yet he was...Mao was allowed to have other friends but he feels a little out of the loop. For now he just looks over to the brushes and grabs a roller and pan. If this was what Mao wanted to do.]

I'm fine. [He sets to sitting on the ground and finding a spot to start on, all while he listens. Waking up was a real trial for him but even with that he looks up at the two.]

[chuusai]

Yeah, plus then the paint can dry as much as it's going to in this weather and we can see if we missed anything or need to touch it up.

[ Mao's content to think that Ritsu's going to paint... until he sees him sitting on the ground. He sighs a little and lays his roller down, looking down at him. ]

You don't look fine, Ricchan. Did you eat anything before you came over? You gotta have breakfast, you know.

[akatatai]

[That's definitely "not fine" if he's ever seen it. Izumi's brow furrows as he sets his brush down and looks down to Ritsu in concern.... Having a telepathic link with Mao has been more trouble than it's worth, and now that he's feeling mild anxiety over Ritsu clearly not being happy about this, he's positive it'll get across. Fun times.]

Um.... Do you want me to paint on the other side instead? [There's literally no reason for him to, but he has no idea what else to do.]

[Ritsu is sure his partner is feeling a lot right now but he really can't stop himself and he will feel guilty later. This was a classmate of Mao's, so like Secchan said Mao was a high schooler...maybe he was the one intruding and being creepy?

When Mao starts to scold him he just stares at the spot on the wall he's painting.]

Maakun is such a mother sometimes.

[Ritsu stands as he grabs the brushes and paint he was working with then he starts to walk.]/small>

No, I'll paint it.

[The idea of painting another side will maybe cool him down a little or let him finish and then head back.]

[chuusai]

[ That's not Ritsu's usual reaction to Mao's nagging, and it definitely seems like more than low blood sugar (though since he didn't say anything, Mao is now certain that's part of it). He watches as the older boy takes his equipment and starts to go to the other side of the lighthouse, then looks up at Izumi and shrugs. His own confusion and concern won't carry through the link but it's evident on his face. ]

I'm sorry, I don't know what's going on, but it's not your fault... [ With a sigh, he sets his roller down and starts down his ladder. ] I should check on him. I'll be right back, OK?

[akatatai]

[Well, that certainly backfired on him. Izumi's mild anxiety has slipped steadily into moderately confused guilt, and with his brow still furrowed, he looks down to Mao with a nod.]

Yeah.... Okay. I'll work on this in the meantime.

[At least this will give him some time to concentrate on painting.]

[strayknight]

[He might be in a bit of a foul mood from a lack of food, but the other part is hard for him to pinpoint. Ritsu is aware they have fought before but seeing Mao so close to another person made him insecure in some way.

Not really paying much mind to them once he walks away, he moves to start painting the opposite side. A small grumble left him as he set the things down and then rests his head against the wall.]

[chuusai]

[ It's the head resting against the wall that Mao arrives just in time to see, and he sighs when he sees it, partly to let Ritsu know he's there but also because he's genuinely... frustrated? Annoyed? Definitely not feeling great about this anyway. ]

Ricchan, that's not how you paint.

[akatatai]

[It's not like Izumi can do much of anything about this, not to mention that he's all the way over on the other side of the lighthouse and can't see Ritsu or Mao anyway.

Overthinking this could be dangerous, given his telepathic link with Mao, so he pulls out his phone and puts his earbuds in. The lighthouse may not be anything like his usual canvas, but he's making strides and covering a good deal of the topmost surface rather quickly, humming along to a song he enjoys and trying to push down all of his worries. Good luck over there....]

[strayknight]

[Right as he was about to resume with his seated painting he heard Mao's voice and looked over to see him. Ritsu let out his own sigh before he picks up the brush.]

You don't trust me to even do this right, then?

[chuusai]

[ Ok, so maybe that was the wrong way to approach this. Mao's not sure there is a right way, though, especially since he's not completely sure what he's even doing right now. ]

Sure I do or I wouldn't have asked you to come help out, but you don't seem to be in a helping kind of mood. What gives?

[ He could possibly be nicer but also he's found that being too gentle with Ritsu gets him nowhere. Mao needs to push a little. ]

[strayknight]

[Honestly, Ritsu isn't even sure what's happening right now in his brain.]

I'm painting aren't I? You seem to have it under control on your side.

[The annoyance is more than clear in his voice as he starts to haphazardly slap paint against the surface.]

[chuusai]

[ Whoa.

Mao's surprised as anything by that reaction. What's got Ritsu so worked up? ]

Dude, if you don't want to be here I'm not going to make you, I just figured with more of us we could finish faster. The people here are depending on us, you know? And I thought if you weren't do anything else, why not spend the day hanging out doing this?

[ He feels pretty lucky to have gotten so many people he likes on this particular team, but right now he's not even sure Ritsu wants him around. ]

[strayknight]

[Ritsu really didn't mean to sound so irritated but he couldn't help his emotions right now. Then there was what Mao said and he feels himself tensing up.]

I guess I was a second thought, since you were already hanging out with him again.

[chuusai]

[ And that's like a slap. Mao even leans back some, still surprised but a bit hurt, too. Why is this situation his or Izumi's fault? ]

This is about Izumi? He's a painter, he would've been doing this regardless. It only looked like we were hanging out without you because you slept in.

[strayknight]

[In the reality it wasn't their faults but Ritsu just can't hold back lashing out. Then the comment Mao makes only pushes him further as he moves to stand up and sets the painting supplies down.]

Then I guess I'm too lazy to help? Since me sleeping seems to be the biggest thing people complain to me about.

[chuusai]

Whoaaaaaaa... Dude, what is going on right now?

[ Mao shifts a little, unsure if Ritsu's going to try to walk away and carefully trying to get in his way in case he does. This is not just getting dropped. ]

I never said you were lazy and I wasn't complaining about you sleeping. There's plenty of work here, we just got started before you showed up.
