TEAM ONE EVENT LOG
READY: START. Roster: Theodore Leonhardt + Atsushi Nakajima, Augustine Sauveterre, Shinji Matou + Makoto Yuuki, Nazuna Nito + Apollo Justice, Sakutarou Oda + Howard Phillips, Carter + Mao Yata + Izumi Miyamura, Hitori Togusa + Sora Pu'uwai, Pitou Blythe + Astin Beaufort, Elizabeth Brisby + Ritsu Sakuma, Junpei Tenmyouji, Light Averly, Kiyotaka Ishida, Soujirou Katsuki + Peter Hoboken On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean. Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare. ![]() Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside. The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around. Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here. It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this? It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment. Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you? This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team One is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Location Travel | Threading for Object OneObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

We'd really appreciate it. These are so huge, we'd probably get lost on our own.
[ Pride is for people who aren't trying to save the world. ]
no subject
We're new here, so all of this is unfamiliar to us. If you have any advice on what to do here, we'd appreciate that too. But for now, it's really interesting just walking around your ship!
no subject
Looking to Mao he then continues to survey what he can see, taking mental notes of the people around the ship and more. When he feels the sailor might be staring at him he moves to hang onto Mao with a yawn.]
We could get lost for days without someone's help.
no subject
Oh, wow! I can hardly grasp how to use a normal map, I can't imagine trying to figure it out with the ocean.
[That's not Brisby schmoozing, that's just an honest statement.]
no subject
That is, until the instruments are brought out. Mao doesn't really know anything about astronomy or navigation but he does know interesting and potentially valuable things when he sees them. The telescope looks the most familiar and the show he makes of checking it out is less feigned than it might seem. ]
You'd never think that just a few pieces of glass could let you see things like this... do you have to have these customized like you would eyeglasses, or can just anybody use them?
[ One of the sailors chuckles and acknowledges that anyone can use it as long as they know how, and Mao nods, turning his enhanced gaze toward the horizon. ]
I wish I had one of these I could practice with but it doesn't seem like anybody here will take our currency.
[ He can't exactly look at the sailor but he listens, hopeful that the reaction will be a... generous one. ]
no subject
The tour starts out rather standard (on a scale of 1 to 10, how forced were his reactions to the far-fetched giant whale stories), but as time goes on and the sailors begin to show off the far more interesting items, Izumi's reactions are nothing but genuine.]
Wow, it's made of gold! How far away can you see with one of those?
[Pretty far, it seems? And the compass is equally interesting, beautifully ornate and unique. These have to be the special items that were mentioned to them! Instead of talking to the sailors, he's going to look over to Mao and have a "conversation."]
It's a shame that we can't buy anything, isn't it? But if we're lucky, maybe some of the people in Pesgare would be willing to trade things with us.
no subject
I doubt it being gold helps it work better...It is interesting though?
[He makes the statement he feels like the gold on it is much like a royalty statement. So these people were more than loaded as far as he could tell.]
Yeah, we don't have any kind of currencies that they take here.
no subject
We don't need these for long anyway! It's things like tea or blankets we really need to collect first.
[She passes the compass back, listening as the guy explains all the fancy little details about it. They also mention a special harpoon, but a small wary look on Brisby's face keeps them from boasting about it to her at least. For now some less engaging sailors are taking stock of the smaller items Mrs. Brisby requested, seeing what they can reasonably give to these four.]
But maybe the spyglass would be good for us, if you wouldn't mind us properly borrowing it! At least, I think that'll be more useful than a harpoon or marine compass for navigation. And the boys seem to like it?
[She directs the question more at them since she's apparently leading the negotiations...]
no subject
Yeah, without knowing how long we'll be here it'd really be helpful to have more basic supplies, even if this is pretty cool. Thanks for letting us use it. I always figured career sailors would be kind of unwelcoming but you guys have been great.
[ Build a rapport, right? Everybody likes a compliment, especially a sincere one. The idea of haggling with sailors had been somewhat intimidating at first, but Mao's not finding that expectation holds a lot of water.
One of the other sailors returns, saying they think they've found the tea but it's in a container stacked behind several others so it'll take them a while to get it out. The sailor leading their tour looks back at the boys and grins--many hands make light work and all that. Just two of them should be enough and that way the lady's not left alone. ]
I can go help, sure. Just show me what needs to be moved!
no subject
Yeah, it's really nice of you guys to help us out like this. We'll give the blankets and everything back when we're done, promise!
[Izumi is far from athletic and doesn't have much stamina, but as physical labor is alluded to, he immediately looks back to Ritsu.... and how low-key dead he seems. Well, if it's between the two of them, then--]
Okay, I'll help out too! I'm not very strong, but I'll do my best.
no subject
Thank you.
[About to say he would join Mao he hears the other and shoots the other a little of a look. He doesn't know him that well but Mao seems to and it is a little irritating for Ritsu...he doesn't know why but it is. He didn't need to leave Mrs. Brisby alone with a big sailor though, even he knew that could be bad.]
I'll stay here then...Sir, could you show us how big your kitchen is? I was curious how many people you can feed here?
[Very good at feigning his curiosity. The sailor seems a little surprised that Ritsu would ask anything but seems happy to show.]
no subject
Well, I'm a little out of shape compared to when I was much younger, but I can cook for you gentlemen as a thank you.
[Ahh, that makes sense, to the sailor! Mrs. Brisby isn't sure what exactly Ritsu was thinking, but she figured that they could keep themselves busy with that much at least.]
no subject
The crates aren't that large but they are heavy and the wood is rough on his hands, but he's here for the duration. ]
Should we just stack them? ... we're not really as tall as you guys.
[ Sure, make the short kid stack stuff. ]
no subject
Well, he did sign up for this. Mao will definitely be the more helpful of the two of them, given that Izumi is clearly struggling just a little bit with the weight of the crate he's holding, but he does have it under control! Here's to hoping that they'll actually get everything they need out of this in the end.]
We can probably stack two, but I don't know if I can hold one of these above my head....
[He and Mao are the exact same height, but he's the weakest link.... literally.]
no subject
I don't know how much help cooking I might be...
[He can actually cook but it never quite looks good, the taste is there but not the appearance.
The sailor just kind of laughs at how blunt Ritsu is before thanking for the offer.
Even as they walk to the kitchen he keeps a close eye on things as they move.]
no subject
[She giggles a bit - no unintended or hidden thoughts here! Just straightforward teasing.]
Let's roll up our sleeves and give it a go! Then we can head back.
no subject
He tries to work a bit more quickly to make up for his friend, smiling as he does. It feels good to be useful. ]
If you can take some of the higher ones and just set them down, I can lift the lower ones to stack them on top and we'll get through it that much faster.
[ And indeed they do. It's hardly an instant process but it's not overly long before the supervising sailor steps forward to stop them, either. They've gotten a space clear to get at the crates storing the tea! ]
no subject
By the time they've finally cleared a path and obtained the tea, he's just about ready to collapse, sweating enough that the pieces of hair that have fallen free from his ponytail stick to his face and neck. But even after thanking and waving goodbye to the kind sailors, their job isn't complete yet.... Now they're tasked with bringing everything back to the others.]
Do you think we're actually going to have a place to stay tonight? I could really use a nap. [Priorities.]
no subject
[Plus he has seen what it did to someone like Sena...he isn't sure he wants to deal with something hurting on that level. It was exhausting enough to fight with Mao that one time. Ritsu nods before he starts to roll his sleeves up.]
What do you need help with?
[As he moves to start grabbing stuff, he seems to be keeping mental notes on things.]
no subject
[Ahh, a nostalgic sigh! There's a subtle ache as she misses her husband, but it's a dull and old pain compared to the fond memories associated with it.]
Alright, do you know how to safely chop veggies?
no subject
[He does seem to keep feeling jealous of Mao, but still hasn't figured out right.]
Yeah, they might not be pretty.
no subject
no subject
[That does make it easier...are they actually looking nicer?]
no subject
[She demonstrates it, slowly at first before showing off a little more speed.]
And you want to rock the knife a little, rather than chop straight down.
no subject
[Watching he is curious about cooking more so this is nice.]
