PESGARE

READY: START.

On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering at the beach with several other volunteers. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a small fishing boat equipped to carry your group. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached.

All aboard! Welcome, good morning, thanks for coming out. We've got a little journey ahead of us. Hope you like the ocean.

Stepping aboard, you'll notice that the boat is equip with everything you could need for a short trip three hours south of the city: fishing poles, breakfast, life jackets, etc. In addition, you'll find a handful of flares with the Retrospec symbol stamped on them that you may want to take with you. At the end of this trip, you'll find yourself pulling into a harbor of a region known as Pesgare.

Constantly overcast with the threat of rain, Pesgare is a bustling little harborside town with a wide ocean and streams leading fishermen and traders in from all parts of the world. There’s greenery and the scent of salt in the area and it’s a balmy sort of feeling the longer you linger outside.

The region known as Pesgare is filled with cramped quarters and cobblestone-esque roads and it’s hard to tell who is and isn’t from the area. There are multiple languages that can be heard (including some that are absolutely not from this earth) and it’s hard to track all of the activity in the main village. Along the roads are brick buildings and wooden shacks and the general area of the town itself is only about 500 square miles. Most of the area to explore ahead is the ocean itself to other ports and islands around.

Everyone in the town is friendly. Literally everyone. It’s hard to find anyone who isn’t in a jovial mood and who isn’t willing to help a neighbor or a stranger and they will be happy to chat about the places they’ve traveled or the people they’ve met along the way. Several of the stories revolve around travels around the globe from once upon a time, and there are others that speak of worlds far off and strange planets that you may never have heard of. It’s hard to tell if they’re serious stories or not though as the townspeople regale the tales and laugh all the while. It’s hard to go anywhere in the town without someone stopping to offer you a free loaf of bread or rush up to talk about how you remind them of someone. It’s busy, busy, busy. A lot of the places in the area appear to be trade posts for certain specialties. This includes weaponry, types of fish, cured meats and veggies, bakeries, books, equipment, curio wares and more. It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade here.

It’s not recommended to travel at night, so most out-of-towners are directed to the inn at the top of the hill, The Ontispan. Several stories high and easily the most recognizable building in the port, you will find that it’s near the lighthouse and the owners, an elderly couple, are more than happy to take you in. There’s plenty of room! The lodging is nice and comfortable and the rolling sea outside your window is calming. However, payment must be made in the morning. No problem, right? You must have your wallet on you, mustn’t you? But the amount due is in a currency you do not have. You’ve never even heard of it! How are you supposed to pay for something like this?

It’s all about supply and demand and barter and trade. The boat you came on is nowhere in sight and none of the other fishermen will consider taking you back to the mainland while you're trying to leave without payment.

Looks like you'll just have to work off your debt, now won’t you?

This is the Team One Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.

Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner!

People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following:

-Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts.
-Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are.
-Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.)
-Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur.

These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want!

Right.

[What Theo doesn’t know is that Atsushi has recalled something while staring into the dancing flames. His other self, the one he’s seem before in flashes of memory, pulling a faceless, nameless man out of a river. He doesn’t recall anything else, just that he’d saved someone...

He feels strangely proud.

When they get to the rooms Atsushi looks lost. He brought some spare clothes, but he’d left his messenger bag containing them back at the docks...]

I don’t have any clothes to change into...

[Theo turns to him, expression surprised. He hadn't brought his own bag for the adventures at the dock, seeing no reason to tote around so many supplies for what was a pretty straightforward task.]

You didn't pack any?

[Or-- wait. Atsushi looks bedraggled from their little dip in the ocean, but...]

--you're missing your bag.

[Well shit.]

[Mrs. Brisby is quicker on her feet, scrambling to collect the tools the three of them would need. At the moment, she is shoving tarps into Makoto's and Snake's arms.]

Let's hurry and get the roof tarped up! Here, take these rain coats, we'll need them with all that rain.

Exactly! And honestly, I wouldn't be in such a rush, you need to know your village's value. You can shop around if you really want. I tell the farmers at the market this all the time, but remember to talk to several people, and let them know they're competing for you. It's just savvy!

[That's decent advice from a practical lady, and certainly gives the leader more to chew on. The stranger has put a lot of pressure, but maybe there's no need to rush into it, like these two say. It's a tempting offer, but it's true, he needs to hear more.]

Cute...Nazuna and Izumi can help out at the inn by going through and making sure all of the rooms are cleaned and stocked with warm blankets and fresh towels, dusting the rooms that may have some cobwebs and ensuring that everything is in order! While the other three at the inn are helping with securing the inn and with dinner prep, this pair will be able to help with guest check-in, moving bags into guest rooms, and even entertaining the children who are well on their way to being miserable on this cold rainy day. The most important thing will be keeping everyone organized and accounted for as people come in from the rain.

In addition, several guests will be asking for accommodations as well! Nazuna and Izumi will find themselves busy running around grabbing supplies for some guests, moving things for them, making fresh cups of tea, breaking up squabbles between children and other busywork tasks.

While this may not feel like it's entirely important just yet, the innskeepers are watching and making note, monitoring the progress of them and the group as a whole to deal with them once the rain stops...but until then? They have their work cut out for them.

Yeah...I took out most of the important stuff because I thought it might get wet, but I left my clothes inside.

[Atsushi glances away, looking sheepish.]

It’s really fine. I’ll dry eventually.

[They could still be dry inside the bag, or at least less wet than what he’s wearing right now...]

I could go get it...

[ the inn is bustling, to say the least. as their amazing teammates are helping to bring the bedraggled and soaking wet customers inn, nazuna pretty much immediately set himself up as a task force. after being shooed off from the main area, he's found his true calling.

he's sitting cross legged on a blanket near the cozy fireplace. there's a little girl in his lap, clinging to his torso, hands curled tight in his shirt, and a series of five or six other kids in various states of chatter around him. they're squirrelly, antsy and restless and wet, but after nazuna's passed out a few towels, he's letting his kindergarten teacher skills kick in for good, and he's bringing izumi along with him.

nazuna smiles at him and his open sketchbook, then hands over the sketchbook. ] Ok~ay, ready? We're going to make up a story. Izumichin is an amazing artist, and he's gonna draw whatever story we come up with... and since I know you're all amazing artists, too, he's gonna let you help! Right~ ?

[ he winks! hope you're ready, izumi! ] What kind of story should we make?

[...He lets out a sigh, scratching at the back of his head. This is seriously a pain...]

If you go out there again, you'll just be freezing. Take a shower first, I'll see what I can do about getting you dry clothes. If you really want to go out and find your bag, we can do that after.

Will there be anything in the water that they should be aware or and/or attempt to salvage, at least maybe as far as their passengers know, or is this purely a rescue mission?

[ Mao packed with travel in mind but that doesn't mean he's ready for this exact mode of travel, so the rain jacket he's wearing is a little too big and his jeans are definitely not seaworthy but he's not going to let a wardrobe difficulty keep him from helping out when it's needed.

He might have to let ignorance do it, though. Mao looks between the jet skis and his companions, blinking a little. ]

Have either of you ever ridden one of these?

[ He's sure the fisherman will give them a crash course but that has the potential to be heavy on the crash if they're not careful. ]

[ THINK NOT SEXY THOUGHTS THINK NOT SEXY THOUGHTS ]

I'm not gonna just randomly have dirty thoughts, you know. Now I wonder what your mind is like over there.

[ As if he didn't know well enough already just what Izumi's mind was like. He watches him for a second, then realizes what's happening and follows him forward, hovering just a little. That's so dangerous, thanks for this Hollywood, please don't make his best friend drown??

Then he tries to clamp that down because that's embarrassing. ]

Probably, otherwise it wouldn't make sense, though I do wonder why they didn't just teleport us there. Maybe it uses too much energy. And if I did that then I'd be useless, I can't even draw!

Yeah, plus then the paint can dry as much as it's going to in this weather and we can see if we missed anything or need to touch it up.

[ Mao's content to think that Ritsu's going to paint... until he sees him sitting on the ground. He sighs a little and lays his roller down, looking down at him. ]

You don't look fine, Ricchan. Did you eat anything before you came over? You gotta have breakfast, you know.

(a sudden storm certainly wasn't something apollo came prepared for, stuck in sweatpants and a cheap rain jacket that won't hold up for very long in weather like this. but even with his dislike of the storm, apollo heads out to see what the town needs help with.

shoving the hair out of his face and blinking through the raindrops, he tries to squint out to sea to get a feel for how far the ships are stranded. he shakes his head at mao's question.) Not me. I'm not a strong swimmer, so I've never had much to do with water.

(that probably makes him ill-equipped to handle this situation, but he's apollo justice, and he's going to help people!!)

[The storm was the last thing they needed, but the luck of not being on a boat was soon replaced when Ritsu saw people needed help. With a long sigh he pushes the hair from his own face and looks at the jet skis before he rubs the back of his neck and approaches them.]

Only one way to learn...If they drown Maakun will never stop talking about it.

[There was more reason than that but for now it was a good thing to say, right?]

[That's definitely "not fine" if he's ever seen it. Izumi's brow furrows as he sets his brush down and looks down to Ritsu in concern.... Having a telepathic link with Mao has been more trouble than it's worth, and now that he's feeling mild anxiety over Ritsu clearly not being happy about this, he's positive it'll get across. Fun times.]

Um.... Do you want me to paint on the other side instead? [There's literally no reason for him to, but he has no idea what else to do.]

[Ritsu is sure his partner is feeling a lot right now but he really can't stop himself and he will feel guilty later. This was a classmate of Mao's, so like Secchan said Mao was a high schooler...maybe he was the one intruding and being creepy?

When Mao starts to scold him he just stares at the spot on the wall he's painting.]

Maakun is such a mother sometimes.

[Ritsu stands as he grabs the brushes and paint he was working with then he starts to walk.]/small>

No, I'll paint it.

[The idea of painting another side will maybe cool him down a little or let him finish and then head back.]

Hey! I'm not thinking anything weird either! It seems like only things I don't want you to hear get across, so you'd find out right away.

[Though now he's likewise in the DON'T THINK DIRTY THOUGHTS, DON'T YOU DARE DO IT boat (ha), and hums to keep himself focused on what they're talking about.]

I mean, they could have teleported us, but then we wouldn't have gotten to be on a boat! [Grinning broadly, he turns his head to Mao.] You aren't going to play Titanic with me? Come on, you might never get this chance again!

[ Pitou certainly isn't the only one who's less-than-enthused by this turn of events. Bad enough that they had to ride on a boat to get over here, but now having to rescue a boat at risk of capsizing in the middle of a storm? Given Junpei's recent memories of being on a sinking ship himself, even if he questions their legitimacy, he can't help feeling uneasy.

But he's doing his best to ignore those feelings for now. He's a police officer; of course he's going to help people, even if it's a little dangerous. And he's still got his humor to keep him sane despite the circumstances, for better or for worse. ]

Sure that wouldn't wind up with them throwing you overboard? I think we're outnumbered here.

Sora and Atsushi are going to go out and try to help one of the ships!

Well, they're going to try, anyway.

(apollo would argue the "perfectly successful" part, but he'd rather see nazuna be happy that start a stupid debate over something... well, stupid.

he almost flinches away as nazuna reaches out, but once he sees the feathers falling from his hair, he instead just blushes and tries to brush out the rest of his hair without mussing it up at all. he's going to pretend that just!! never!! happened!!!) Y-Yeah, let's go, let's get looking and finish this up!

(meanwhile, apollo will try to subtly check his hair to see if it's been ruined at all, or worse, if he still has feathers in it. could this be, gasp, self-consciousness about his appearance?)

[Gripping at the rails, Augustine held on as he feels the boat moving closer and closer to the ship. In fact, whatever the tentacle attempts to strike the boat once more, Modeste fired a series of blue and green laser blasts to it before she barely lands right next to her owner.

If they managed to reach the wayward ship, he starts to work on evacuating the ship into their boat before it strikes back.]

Okay...

[Atsushi fights back a sneeze as he goes to do just that, shedding his wet clothes and having nothing but a towel to cover himself once he steps out. At least Theo is a guy too, so it shouldn’t be too awkward.

He still hides in the bathroom, though, waiting for news of dry clothes.]

Purely rescue for now! They will have to dodge floating debris such as boxes of fruit and other cargo, and some of their passengers may want to save some of these items but it's pretty ill-advised since they're heavy and are more likely to weigh the waverunners down.

[Makoto notices how bad the weather is getting with the wind blowing and the rain falling down so hard it's going to be difficult for him to even get outside without being blown away. He decides to help inside the inn instead, he knows he can do that!

It doesn't take him long to find a job to do when someone starts shoving tarps in his arms.]

Okay! We have to make sure the water doesn't get in.

[He has been a little worried about the way the wind has been blowing.]

[ Pitou flashes him a look, their eyes gleaming eerily for a moment. ]

I'd like to see them try, I'd claw their fucking eyes out.

[ For the most part, Pitou Blythe is not very intimidating looking. They are an androgynous cat creature that stands at about 5'3 and 100 pounds. But their scariest cat asset is the claws, they're sharp and utterly inhuman. And currently painted a rather bright barbie pink. ]
