TEAM SNOW WHITE LOG
READY: START Team Snow White roster: Davey Jacobs, Eleanor Lamb, Fang, Kasen Kanesada, Malik Ishtar, Mari Ohara, Riku, Ritsu Kageyama, Ryoji Mochizuki, Toushiro Hitsugaya, Yuri Plisetsky. The city's been under siege for what feels like hours. It's only on August 3rd that you learn it's been a matter of days. Monsters begin pulling Retrospec users through portals left and right, large gaping holes in reality that spit you out in any given location around the city. However, just as you think you're finally getting away, a large blue portal opens and you're snatched up. No amount of fighting and struggling will free you and soon the pressure is too great to ignore. Darkness fills your vision and the last thing you may remember is the sound of many bat wings... This is the Team Snow White Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Snow White is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Objective 1 Part TwoObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |
room 5
Ryoji wrinkles his nose, a frown pulling at his lips as he glances around the island counter. ]
Spoiled food... it's such a waste.

Although... I don't think this place is as neglected as it seems. Look over there. -Kasen gestured at the oven, noting the dim glow.-

[ just what Ritsu said, Kasen doesn't get to learn just yet, because Ryoji had leapt forward to see the oven he had been pointing out, and startles badly enough that his shoulders jolt when the timer pings.
...Ryoji doesn't move, although he's already close enough to the oven door that he can feel no heat from from it. ]
I'm going to open it on the count of three.
[ Just in case Kasen wants to get his sword at the ready or something, please. ]
1... 2... 3—!

... It's a cake. -Considering they were all there for a 'deathday' celebration, that didn't seem particularly at odds, however... It was hard not to notice the sudden rattling of the dishes and utensils behind them as an array of knives started to float of their own accord.-

He isn't fast enough, and one of the knives cuts through his sleeve— Ryoji clamps a hand over his arm instinctively, but he doesn't bleed from the wound, doesn't seem to feel the pain as he ducks behind the counter to grab— a party platter, that'll do- he shakes off the molded finger sandwiches and holds the platter before him like a shield, swinging an arm to knock aside another knife. ]

Thankfully it was just a pairing knife, the wound shallow, but it would certainly make his swordplay more difficult. But the angle seemed off for something that was trying to kill him...-

[ Ryoji uses the platter to parry the knives, scrambling out of the kitchen to somewhere with more space and less clutter— but the knives don't follow him. They slam against the oven, slicing through the cake and sending chunks of cake and icing everywhere- the walls, the floor, ceiling, both Kasen and Ryoji and the dessert calls forward the same rats that were scared off before. They skitter across the ground and swarm up their pants, nibbling on anything they can get their teeth on. ]

If everything is focused on the cake... there must be something special about it!

He grits his teeth and runs back into the kitchen, ignoring blade and teeth as they cut him, bleeding black onto the kitchen floor. ]
Get to the cake and clear as much space around it as you can. I'll take care of the rest!

Close your eyes!
[ The butterfly companion he'd been provided by Retrospec emerges now— it can create light, useful for navigating the tunnels and dreary swamps, but in a brightly lit kitchen, it dials the brightness up a thousand-fold. It's only a flash, but it sears the eyesight of the remaining rats and blinds them. The rest he'll leave for Kasen to take care of. ]

Quickly! I think they're going to keep coming until we find what it is they're after!

[ It's a useful ability that he can only use three times— two, now— so Ryoji doesn't hesitate to dig into the cake with the precious few seconds they've bought themselves. The cake crumbles, dry, as he pulls it apart in chunks, and Ryoji's frown deepens with regret over how he's disrespecting somebody's birthday cake. But it's necessary, he tells himself. He'll apologize later, if he can. ]

If they can escape with it, it's theirs. Though they may not know it, they'll need it to escape the house, so they may want to run. Good luck, boys.]
no subject
Did you find it? What is it? They're still attacking!
no subject
—okay, that didn't work, so Ryoji grabs Kasen's wrist at his uninjured side and pulls him to run. ]
A whistle! I don't think it'll help!
[ Getting to the kitchen was nice and simple, but all the regrets come rushing forth now of how much of the house they'll have to get through— the dining room, long hallways— in order to get outside and hopefully have the rats choose the freedom of the swamp instead of biting their ankles. ]

Kasen slammed the kitchen door shut behind them, but the knives quickly peppered it enough to the point it burst into splinters, chasing them down the hallway. One managed to spike Kasen's hip, causing him to let out a sharp cry and stumble.-
no subject
I got you. Just a little further, okay? There's stone busts in the entrance— if we can make the knives hit those instead, the blades might bend or shatter!
no subject
He did his best to bat away the knives with what little swinging of his sword he could manage with his wounds, suffering several minor cuts from missed shots, or even burns on his knuckles from the resulting sparks, but they made it to the foyer. They were so close...-

[ It's a hope more than a promise. The one time he needs Thanatos, the being who reigns over Death, he can't reach the Persona. Instead, he's just Ryoji, Kasen is Kasen, and they're doing the best they can with what they have.
With all they have. And what Ryoji has, courtesy of Retrospec, and hasn't used much this entire month is a power that he hesitates to use simply because its activation is so inappropriate for the severity of the situations they've been facing. But now's not the time to worry about appearances. He makes sure both he and Kasen make it in front of one of the larger busts before turning around and facing the knives and singing a single note. The shock wave blasts the swarm of knives back all at once, but the power is tempered as not to bring the entire mansion down over their ears, just enough to throw the knives back against the wall, and when they come at him and Kasen again, it's all together in a single wave instead of a hundred.
They have one shot at this, the exact moment right before they hit, to jump behind the statue and let the knives destroy themselves. ]

Kasen grunted as they both dove behind the statue, the impact of hitting the floor aggravating his wounds badly, but he'd take that over what worse would come. And as loud as Ryoji's vocal blast had been, the cacophony of the knives smashing into the statue was far, far worse, Kasen having to grasp at his ears to block out the shattering noise...-

a hundred thunks of wooden handles on the tiled floor, and then
blessed silence.
Ryoji slumps down against the bust that had protected them, hardly daring to look around the stone to see if everything had indeed stopped. A second passes, then another, and he assumes so without checking, instead pulling out the source of all this trouble: the whistle, which he hands over for Kasen to see. ]

You should check on the others... Until I can be treated, I'm no good. But I can hold on to this, at least.
no subject
Please keep it safe. Can you still move? I work at the clinic at Chata— I don't routinely do first aid as my job, but I do know it. I could help get those wounds cleaned up and bandaged, and maybe iced if there's anything frozen in the kitchen freezer.
