mingle | school's in
WHO: You!
WHERE: School campus(es)
WHEN: All month
WHAT: A friendly mingle log for students, teachers, and anyone else to celebrate/get some easy school CR! This is for the whole month of September since it's the beginning of the school year, so take your time. Also, students of any level of schooling are allowed to use this; I left it open for that reason.
WARNINGS: There shouldn't be any, but let me know if anything happens and I'll adjust this accordingly.
Autumn—a season of pumpkin spice lattes, colorful leaves dancing through the air to smack unsuspecting people in the face, and the start of school. Time moves ever onwards, and even the tricky residual effects of August hanging around won't stop it... so pack your supplies, print your schedules, and get ready to make some friends this semester. Or some enemies. It doesn't matter: school's started, and attendance is mandatory. (Or costs money, in the case of university and college students.)
Feel free to make your own top levels and etc; clubs, school life, classroom fun (be it actually paying attention, getting tutoring, passing notes, or whatever you'd like), and all that are fair game!

9/08 :: ICE CREAM SOCIAL
The Ice Cream Social is held on Friday, Sept 8, beginning directly after school and going for as long as the ice cream lasts, which could actually be quite a while. The ice cream parlor down the street sponsors the event, so in addition to your Holy Trinity (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) they have ALL sorts of weird flavors as well. Gray cotton candy, gray raspberry, gray mint chocolate chip... whole lotta gray ice cream up in here, for some reason.
This event is a true mingle - just a time to hang out and meet your fellow students, for your parents to meet their parents, or to chat with your teachers outside a class setting. Knock yourselves out, and be careful of brain freeze!]
Re: 9/08 :: ICE CREAM SOCIAL
So you'll find her sitting somewhere, with a very sizable helping of ice cream. Eating it just a little too fast.]
Ouch!

Open to High School Students/Teachers
[Another year, another round of sitting the back of classes. Unless there's assigned seating, you better believe Noah chooses to sit in the back of the class if there's a spot. He transferred to the school last February, so by now his fellow classmen have gotten to known him as that sullen kid that always has a Hot Topic aesthetic along with gloves and long sleeves.
And it looks like however he spent the summer? He decided to change nothing about this attitude! He's still in the back, wearing those gothy clothes. At least he seems to be paying semi-attention to class, though sometimes you might see him practicing writing with his left hand -- which several new users of the app might realize suddenly that he didn't have a left arm last school year up until last May. That's weird.]
[B. Lunch - OTA]
[Easily his favorite time of the day. Wherever he's sitting, he can be found chowing down on what seems to be a double serving of the school lunch. He's eating so fast, you'd think he'd been starving all summer. He seems to be in pretty good spirits though (he's always in better spirits when he eats), so maybe you can approach him and strike up a conversation.]
[C. Lockers - OTA ]
[As you walk by the locker bays, you might find something rather odd. Noah's got his locker open and his body is blocking the view of what's inside- but he seems to be speaking to something in his locker]
Look it's just for an hour, I'll be back. Just stay here and don't chew through the door, okay??
[Maybe you should investigate. Or run.]
[D. Wildcard!]
[Got another prompt? Go for it! ]
c
There's always a chance he'll make the wrong choice, though, and who knows if this is one of those times? Since they're in the same year, his locker's not far from Noah's, and the fact that he's having a conversation with his locker and not anybody else in the hallway is obvious to anyone who happens to notice. Mao figures it's just a cell phone call until he hears the phrase 'chew through the door.' What?
He doesn't know Noah very well so he's casual when he approaches him, leaning against the lockers without actually trying to look into his. Just two guys having a perfectly normal conversation. ]
I'm sorry, did you say chew?

[One of the best thing about a college campus is just how anywhere could be a good place to just sit down and after managing to familiarize himself with the campus again (he has a horrible luck when it comes to directions), he decided to sit in a free area with an open textbook on his lap and a notebook layered on top of it. He seems to be immersed in something, scribbling something down into the notebook before a pause and he sips his coffee.
When he sees anyone passing by, he'll give a smile and wave in greeting.]
[B. Extracurricular]
[Need a hand in some extracurricular activities or whatever club or responsibility you picked up? Come both Hikari since he'll definitely be coaxed into helping or easy to dump responsibilities on and he'll end up doing it for you.

Mao Yata (HS, OTA)
[ It's something he's been avoiding but Mao knew it was going to happen eventually and junior year is probably the best time for it. Freshman year and he never would've lived it down, sophomore year when he was just finding his stride, and next year's senior year so there's no way he's taking a class taught by his mom. This year, though, it should be fine.
His mother is nothing if not professional, treating him like every other student in the class as she explains the day's project. Home ec isn't all baking pies and sewing pillows anymore, but there is still a fair amount of that kind of thing. Maybe you ended up Mao's partner for peach pie, scrambled eggs, picking stocks to track (because ec means economics), or some other life skills project. Just don't expect him to have any insider tips. He's a student here just like the rest of the class. ]
b: yearbook committee
[ Junior year is also the year to start thinking about college, and while Mao is pretty confident in himself in a general kind of way where that's concerned, there's nothing wrong with adding another extracurricular where you can. After this summer, too, Mao's certain there could be something to be gained from joining a group committed to making a record of everything important that happens in a given year. It'll be interesting to see just what sorts of things people with and without the app want to include, but his bias is obvious when the committee president asks for ideas for things to include about the summer. ]
What about the month long monster siege? That seems kind of important.
c: my head's in the game but my heart's in the song
[ It's ironic to Mao that the reason he couldn't see the list at first is because there are a number of much taller, bigger guys in front of him, but he's chill and waits his turn. The fact that none of the other guys even look at him as they turn away and high five each other turns that chill into something colder that's just confirmed when he gets to the list.
Should've started training sooner, or drank more milk when he was younger. Either way, Mao's hoop dreams are done. Catch him on his way out or anywhere on his walk home. He's doing his best not to show his disappointment but there's a literal cloud hanging right over him on this otherwise sunny day. Thanks for adding insult to injury, Retrospec. ]
d. ice cream social
[ The first week of September is still plenty warm for ice cream, and as a member of the student council of course Mao is here to help. He's bouncing around wherever he's needed, serving, clearing tables, wiping up drips of disconcertingly gray ice cream. Need a recommendation? Need someone to run out for more napkins? Just want to talk to this slightly frazzled looking guy with the red hair and the thought bubble that just says, Not again...? Go for it. ]

Mafuyu briefly glances over the recipe they've been provided (white sugar to taste = she takes a pinch and sprinkles it on her tongue, to taste), then jumps for the baskets of peaches at the front of the class, elbowing people out of the way if she has to, to get the best ones. ]
Mao! Catch!!
[ She tosses her choice peaches overhand, high in the air over the heads of the rest of the class. ]

[ to kick off the new semester, ann can be found inside one of the campus' cafes. she...kind of loudly drops her books onto the table top, makes a fist with one hand before sitting down and opening one of her textbooks. she can be seen scribbling away in one of her notebooks labeled 'BIO 101'. it looks like she's hard at work, but there's room across of the table for another person to join her in her studies! she's also sipping on a pumpkin spice latte while she tears through her biology book.
...however, if you run into her later on, instead of working hard and vigorously ann will be instead sleeping on top of her books. her pumpkin spice latte is probably getting cold. what a change that was, huh? ]
B. CLASS
[ weird, how there's no bell or any kind of signal that signifies that class is in session. you're just...expected to walk in on time, sit down, and do whatever you want in these big lecture halls. everyone seems pretty focused--at least for the first few days of school--but then suddenly there's less and less people who start showing up. ann, on the other hand, is being responsible and shows up to every single one of her classes. she's taking gen ed classes; aside from those, she has japanese 101 as an elective.
if you're someone she's not familiar with, she may glance over a few times, as if she wants to say something to you? weird, because she doesn't say anything at all. however, if she knows you, she'll tap on your shoulder and give a small wave. ]
Hey! Looks like we're stuck together for the semester, yeah?
[ SHE'LL BE SO HAPPY TO KNOW SOMEONE.... ]
C. THEATER 101
[ so.
this sucks. ann's acting is....not so bad, either. however it doesn't look like she's really getting into it at all; rather, she looks a little unsatisfied? if you know her, you may know why. if not, well...it's not hard to tell that she isn't really enjoying herself.
the two of you are going to get paired up for a scene, however, any scene of your choosing and are to act it out in front of the class next week. ]
Uhh...so...what do you feel like doing?
D. WILDCARD
[ hit me up with anything! ]
C
I feel as though that's a question I should ask you, to be honest. [ hmm. ] Perhaps something more on the whimsical side..? The type where as long as you're having fun with it, there's no wrong way to act.
[ a beat. liz glances at ann. ]
Unless you're not having fun with it at all, naturally.

Throughout Sept. | High School | OTA
[Mary would not miss this for the world. She'd heard about it, of course, and what sixteen year old in their right mind would pass up the chance for free ice cream? She's...not really so great at the social part of it, since she knows basically nobody, but she'll make an earnest attempt at it.
Anyone that seems to be alone, or anyone that does actually know her is bound to be approached by one tall girl with her hair done up in a spiky ponytail waving cheerfully.]
Hello there. Some get together huh? [...smooth, Mary.]
II. School Hallways
[Honestly, what school log would be complete without a hallway prompt? Mary's the new girl, and you might want to approach? Or it's entirely possible that you've walked into her too. Or maybe you just like really tall girls and feel like chatting? She's not exactly shy either, if she spots you looking at her she'll wave and walk over. That's how you meet people, right?]
III. Swim Club
[Swimming is one of the few sports that Mary actually finds herself drawn to, and she'd done well enough at tryouts to be brought into the club. She's there pretty much every practice, rarely missing any, and today (or any day) is no exception. Maybe catch her as she's toweling off? Or give her a hand out of the pool after a successful dive? Or just come watch! It's all good!]

[ It’s not even a week in and Futaba is bored. She’s well aware she’s That Person who is entirely ahead of the unit but it’s not like the teachers are doing anything about it. Classwork is a sneeze and she’s got her phone out, passing the time as well as she can. Might as well get those pulls in while she can’t yell at her game.
Now would be the perfect time for a distraction ]
B. Free period/the hallways
[ Futaba’s been burned pretty badly by classmates before and a year or so into a new school, she’s still wary of going out of her way to try again. Sure all schools tend to have similarities but she’s still a little surprised people actually want to talk to her. Talk about baffling. ]

High School | OTA!
[Kuramochi feels better enough to finally go back to school. There might be some lingering thoughts, though it's not enough to stop him like before. Now he can go back to his student council duties. Since he's going to be graduating, he should start thinking about who he can pass his duties off to, though he can think about that a little later. It's time to welcome the new students! Anyone can come into the student council room for anything and he'll help them.]
[B. Free Time]
[Kuramochi takes a break from looking over documents and his classes by stopping by his favorite window in the school. It's where he can see the baseball field, it's something that can calm him down. It's funny to think this will be his last time looking at it from this window. While he is on break he doesn't mind if anyone comes up to him.]
[C. After School ]
[Kuramochi can be found doing a few different things after school. He can be in the halls making sure the freshmen get out of the building without getting lost. Or he can be making sure that anyone who got detention on the first day (cause how does that happen?) is actually going there. Or in the home ec room making some cookies. He got permission from the teacher to use it after school to do a little baking as long as he cleaned up. If anyone catches him he'll be more that happy to help, but if you want tips on cooking please don't set anything on fire! He'll get in trouble then they can't use the room again.]
[D. Ice Cream Social]
[Kuramochi would love to enjoy some of the ice cream, but he has to make sure that it runs smoothly. That means going around to make sure to replace cones if they're running low or point someone to the right direction. He's also around to keep an eye on anything just in case. However, you can see him bouncing from place to place to make sure things are running smoothly.
Good thing he stashed some ice cream for him to enjoy later.
Anyone is welcome to join him for ice cream when he has time to breathe.]
[D. Wildcard]
[If you have any ideas for something else, go for it! You can hit me up at plurk too:

[New school year, new students! Which means several things. For all those lost freshmen, Minako can be encountered in the hallways wearing bright orange safety vest with the words STUDENT AFFAIRS emblazoned on the back-- that is to say, she's someone who can help you get where you need to go! Just. Gather up some bravery and ask five minutes before class starts, and not after. Since she's a part of Student Affairs, you can also find her in the office at the info desk, processing papers and answering questions.
Since the first week is basically club recruitment, she can also be found walking around in her volleyball uniform with her team, playfully bunting the ball to people who look her way to get their attention.]
Comin' atcha!
[Quick, hit it back! You might get a free pen or something from the team.
Every other day she'll be repping for ReVA, so if you'd like to get into the volunteer scene, she can be found in a professional outfit on those days, sitting behind a tented table. There's a TV with a slideshow of a lot of photos from community events and some freebies and coupon books you can snag, but otherwise it's one of those quiet stalls that doesn't expect a lot of traffic. Minako certainly isn't paying too much attention, since she has the giant catalog of classes set up at her elbow and a long list of classes on the page in front of her, complete with a troubled look on her face.]
II. DOWN TIME
[Even a busy girl like Minako needs a break. Whether you've found her camped out in the school cafeteria, the library, or the coffee shop, she has commandeered a whole table to herself with all her books, papers, notebooks, and her laptop, and unfortunately it looks like there's nowhere else to sit. Come ask her if you can share the space.
Or maybe you find her in the music department after school. Specifically in the piano rooms. She reserved the room fair and square, but she sometimes goes on longer than the alloted hour if she doesn't see anyone come in, so you might walk in on her playing a very powerful song on the piano before she messes up somewhere, winces, and starts over from the beginning to try again.]
II
Of course, doing this much reading requires somewhere to sit. He wouldn't have thought that these many students would be so diligent this early in the semester, but the more he searches for an empty seat, the more he's proven wrong. Hitching his bag of books higher on his shoulder, he finally locates an empty chair, if not an empty table, and he makes his way over towards it with a sheepish smile.]
Hallo. I don't suppose that this seat is available?
[His Northern English accent is a little thick, but hopefully not so much that she shouldn't be able to understand him? Hopefully...]

open to ru undergrad/graduate students & faculty
[Professor John Lyall has something of a reputation for the way that he conducts his classes, and this semester is no different. Although they are still academics and his students will be expected to write essays, answer questions, participate in class, and generally attend as they might in any other class, there's no reason he can't make any of these things exciting. This of course includes any number of activities, including dramatic narrations of excerpts of the various books and poems that they are reading, done by himself and also various attendees, the use of props encouraged.
This class has been no different, and of course you have been required to participate as well. Maybe you enjoyed it? Maybe you're excited for how the rest of the semester will go? Maybe you're regretting ever signing up for a class with this Professor Lyall in the first place. As he dismisses the class with a reminder to check the University class website for this week's assignments, perhaps now is a good time to let him know...]
B - OFFICE HOURS
[John always makes himself available for office hours (perhaps because his office in the university is something more of a home than the apartment that he rents across town, though his students of course wouldn't know that, and it has the look to prove that). He has a slotted time set aside for students from each class to come and meet with him, but then he also makes certain to be around for any time when a student messages him to meet outside of those hours, or should they stop by for a visit. And there are a lot of visits. He's a popular professor, after all, not only because of his teaching style, but also for this: the level of dedication he devotes to each and every one of his students.
At the moment, he's sitting at his desk, sifting through a pile of papers he's printed out to grade, reading through them and making notes here and there, sipping at a cup a tea and drumming his fingers on his desk every now and again to the soft music he has playing in the background. He has left his door open so as to appear more inviting for anyone who cares to stop in.
Perhaps you have an appointment! Perhaps you've just got a question for him. Perhaps you're walking by and you feel the necessity to comment on the state of his office or his taste in music. Regardless as to whether he knows you or not, he glances up as you step through the door and offers you a friendly smile.]
Hallo!
C - DOWNTIME
[Because John never seems to go home, there are times when he can be seen around campus as well. Perhaps you might run into him at the library, tucked comfortably into one of the cozier armchairs that seems to be amongst the favorites for students to study in as well, with one of the only available remaining just next to him. Perhaps it's at the coffee shop, patiently waiting in line for his daily tea which the staff has prepared for him by the time he makes it to the register. Perhaps it's out on the quad, where he is sitting on one of the benches enjoying the weather while it lasts (and his daily RU tea that he had picked up earlier).
Regardless of how you come upon him, he will smile as you approach, and happily strike up a conversation if invited to do so (and sometimes regardless as to whether he is invited to do so or not).]

Hi... uhm, I have a question. About any future essays. [This might sound like a ridiculous question as he steps in.] If we do it about something involving science, do you still want us to use MLA or whatever fits with where we got the source? The school I went to before this only had us use MLA, which doesn't make sense for some of our sources...

[Haru probably should've checked out the campus first to see where everything was, but this past week or so have been a bit... heavy, so she ended up not doing it. Now, though, she wanders the campus, first looking around the area, then down at her phone where her class schedule is pulled up. She's not sure which building she needs to be in, nor how the room numbers are laid out in said buildings, so instead she wanders with a deer in the headlights look, hoping to come across a building that might have the number she's looking for.
As she walks, she might go up to you and ask:]
Excuse me? I'm sorry, but do you know where this room is?
[B. Class is in Session!]
[Over the week, Haru can be found in college algebra, fundamentals of chemistry, plant biology, and an elective: a dance class, as she's always been interested in it and would love to learn and improve. Depending on which class you're in with her, she might react differently to the syllabus: while she's excited about all of the latter subjects, algebra has her wincing a little and looking a bit lost as she looks at all the subjects they're going to learn.
During a break in the class to discuss and introduce each other, Haru turns to whoever's sitting near her.]
Would you like to share notes together?
[C. Clubs?]
[In the cafe, Haru looks over all the clubs that are available while sipping some tea. There sure are a lot... She'd like to join something, if only so that she can have something fun to do while doing schoolwork, but what to choose?
Are you in any of these clubs and looking to recruit someone? Try her!]
[D. Wildcard]
[Throw a prompt at me!]
A
That is until she hears a voice and her morning goes from a zero to a solid nine. She double takes at the girl speaking to her and--whoa. ]
...Oh. Hey there. I know that room. It's pretty far from here.
[ There is no doubt in her mind this girl is new. Not only is she lost, she is really lost. ]
Sorry, but I'm no good at directions. How about I walk you there?

HIGH SCHOOL // SPORTS // OTA
[moonbase alpha voice] FOOTBALL
[ Practice is always open to observe--after all, there's nothing blocking access to the field after school and the bleachers are right there. Most people have better things to do than watch other people practice, but the option is there.
Not that James is even paying attention to the bleachers whatsoever. He's busy focusing on practice--running suicides, practicing the distance and aim of his throws, timed sprints, and tackle practice galore.
Of course, he does stand out a little as the only person on the team wearing heavy eyeliner and loose, long hair. ]
[ TRYOUTS - locked to mafuyu ]
[ James has no need to be here, technically--he's already on the team and his spot is very safe. But, well, if practice is cancelled, he might as well be here for tryouts and check out the fresh meat. It's not like he has anywhere better to be right now anyway.
He stands with some of his other teammates in the bleachers, watching from a distance. His arms are crossed and he stares down with a slight sneer--if he can inspire fear in some of these kids, all the better. Then they get to see how they operate under pressure. ]

high school!
[Perhaps you want to be excused from PE (if possible, forever). Perhaps you want to join a sports team, or you just need to see Miles for some reason or another. When he's not holding class or coaching, he can be found in his office - his impeccably neat office. There are bookshelves with a lot of books about sports - although ice skating seems to take precedence over the rest, followed by the teams Miles coaches - as well as mystery novels and even comic books interspersed in the sea of book spines. The awards all on display are either for coaching or for the sports he was in back in high school - track and field, judo, even chess and dance. The window behind his desk overlooks the field.
He's working at his equally clean desk, possibly looking over a schedule or his lesson plan. Over a plain white shirt and black jogging pants, he's clad in a jacket in Recolle High colors, and should you catch him standing with his back turned while surveying what's outside his window, you would be able to read "COACH" printed on the back in block letters.
Talk to him? Bug him? There are also signup sheets outside for "self-defense classes" and "interest check for dance classes" as he's looking to start those.]
OPTION B: YOU'VE GOT CLASS
[Or it's PE class! Don't worry, there's no homework...yet. And Miles is wearing this shirt for the occasion. Despite the humor in his shirt, he's all serious business.
Feel free to approach him for questions but if you slack off in any way YOU ARE DEAD. If you're having trouble, pls let him dad you I MEAN HELP YOU.]
OPTION C: WILDCARD!
[I HAVE WORK TOMORROW feel free to throw me a prompt! For reference, currently Miles coaches the track team, the swim team, and the soccer team. I think any more and his schedule will collapse, so.]
b
Hey. [ She approaches Miles from behind while pacing the pool supervising the swimmers or whatever teachers do. ] If I'm bleeding this week, that means I get a free pass out of swimming, right?
[ She's bleeding, but from her nose, a developing bruise on her cheek suggesting that maybe she let somebody punch her in the face just to get out of swimming, why this ]

HIGH SCHOOL
[For the first week, Li-Na goes down the wrong hallway at least once a day. Sometimes she realizes her mistakes quickly, and sometimes she just gets lost. This is one of those lost times.
Li-Na is standing in the middle of the hallway, getting bumped this way and that way by the students who DO know where they are going. Her schedule is clutched in her hands and an anxious expression is on her face.
Please come rescue her.]
B -- LIBRARY
[Li-Na was absolutely tickled to discover she could spend one of her class periods helping out in the library. She mostly spend her time there helping the school librarian shelve books and using any down time to work on her homework. It's a pretty sweet deal. Of course, occasionally someone actually comes in to use the library.]
Can I help you find something?
C -- CLASSES
[Li-Na is mostly taking Regulars classes. No AP for this girl. 12th grade English, US History, and Physics are her subject classes, while Communication Applications (aka Speech), PE, and Cooking/Home Ec are her electives.
She prefers to sit about center of the classroom, rather than the front or back. But if the teacher likes using seating charts... well, hopefully she's sitting next to someone nice?
Li-Na does not talk much in class the first month, as she adjusts to the level of English the instruction is given in. It's quite a bit higher than she is used to back home, and it's not uncommon for her to just look bewildered. Her notes are a jumble of English and Chinese. And question marks.]
A
She doesn't look like a freshman, though. A new kid? Well, hey, Sora's been there, too. He smiles as he goes up to her.]
Are you lost, miss?

High School | OTA
[Senior year has arrived, and thus far it seems to be the same as every other year of high school. It's the same kids he's known since middle school, doing the same thing, the same way they had every year.
But Sora doesn't mind. After all, it's their last year here, their last time to act like kids before they all go their separate ways as the class of 2018 goes off to college and jobs and stuff.
Of course, that's all kind of depressing to think about right now. Right now, Sora's happy to blend in with the crowd and make an attempt to pay attention to the teachers.]
B. Lunch/Hallway
[Sora will smile and talk to anyone who talks to him first. He's easily the nicest kid in school, helping the freshmen find their way around, helping other kids wherever they need it. He has a few people he'll sit with at lunch, a few people he'll walk from class to class with, but he never seems to stick with just one group.
Thus, it's easy to call him away somewhere if one needs to speak with him privately.]
C. Soccer
[As always, soccer practice starts as soon as possible, to gear up the team for another great year. Despite his misgivings, Sora was convinced to sign up again this year, and, well, at least he wasn't doing nothing. Practice is pretty easy today, though, so he totally has time to talk during drills.]
D. Wildcard
[Come at me!]
High School, OTA!
[Now a senior...again, you'll find Ayano in all of the typical 12th grade classes, or the occasional 11th grade class. You can usually find her slowly falling asleep, nodding off to the point where she's dropping her pencil or nearly hitting her head on her desk. Otherwise, she's just not paying attention, doodling in her notebooks, or trying and failing at taking notes. After class, you'll find her standing outside the room, smacking her cheeks to try to wake herself up and sneaking some gum into her mouth.]
II. Phys Ed.
[Fairly scrawny, lazy, and weak, Ayano will be overwhelmingly winded simply from running a few laps around the gym, or doing simple push-ups or sit-ups. The girl could use some encouragement, or maybe a scolding as she saunters back to the bleachers to sit down and take a break. During dodgeball, she'll be going out of her way to eat hit so that she can go sit out.
BONK
Mercifully, the red ball smashes into the side of the head, nearly leveling her entires body as she exclaims:]
Yay! I'm out! I'm out everyone! Totally dead! Just gonna...Gonna sit right over here! Don't worry about me!
III. Lunch
[At lunch, Ayano is typically sitting all by herself at a large table in the corner of the lunch room. She has kind of an elaborate lunch that she slowly unpacks--Fruit cups (gross), a fancy sandwich on French bread, a candy bar (yay!), fancy organic chips, and a soda. Typically, she'll be eating it slowly as she watches videos on her cellphone. Occasionally, she'll stop and lean back in her chair, staring up at the ceiling. Yeah...it gets kind of lonely eating by yourself. Sometimes, people would come over and sit with her, but now that everyone in her class graduated except her...it kind of bites. A gentle sigh escapes her lips as she goes back to digging into her chips.]
Lunch is taking so long, today...
IV. Detention
[So...you got detention. Ayano is probably a familiar face if you're here often. Yeah, she got caught sleeping in class and is now, most likely, jabbing you softly with her pencil, trying to initiate some conversation because detention is really boring, especially when the teacher leaves the room to take a phone call.]
Psst, hey...This totally sucks, right? Like, I definitely don't deserve to be here...
II
Are you... okay?
[ Because to him, this looks like the most energetic Ayano has been--getting out. Though he remembers in some places where people hit on the head still stay in the game because the head is an off-limits zone to hit. But since she looks so excited(?) about being out, he feels like he can't bring it up... ]

And then they ask her what she did all summer, and she finds she doesn't know how to answer them. "My life got taken over by a rogue social network"? "I found out I'm slowly turning into an alien robot or something"? "I developed superpowers and helped save the world"? Nothing quite fits. In the end she goes with laughter and "I'll tell you later," but... she kind of wishes she didn't have to. It's like she slid sideways into a slightly different world, and nobody knows she's not quite the same Ami as before.
As the day goes on, she alternates between a. friendly and b. oddly quiet. Catch her in mood (a) and she'll be all-]
Hi there! How's it going? Ready for the new year?
[but in mood (b) she keeps a little more to herself. Fortunately(?), her thoughts have chosen now, of all times, to be plainly visible above her head.]

Mind if I sit here? [she says, sitting there anyway.]

[Ever since first showing up on campus for classes, Yusuke has been following something of a pattern. He's been walking onto campus via the same route each day, pausing just long enough to examine the area before heading to class, only to be found rushing back after class has finished to grab the exact same spot every day and pull outa sketch book.
You'd think a guy on the art program might've had enough of drawing after a day of just that, but there's obviously something that has caught his attention. But trying to get him to draw himself away from his artistic task might be a challenge in and of itself.]
[B. Library]
[Yusuke can be found weaving around the different book shelves in the library; a list of recommended reading clutched in one hand. Not that he's really looking at it. One of the books on the list - something about contemporary art through the recent decades - has been underlined with thick black liner, but given that he seems to be straying into the Modern Languages section, he... seems to be lost.]
Code HT1... 34?... [He's nowhere near any book codes that read anything neanr to HT-anything. Someone help him out before he gets even more lost.]
[C. Feed him.]
[Towards the end of the day, Yusuke is hovering around the entrance to one of the coffee shops on campus. He's balancing a couple of books under one arm, and a wallet in his free hand, and seems to be glancing between the price list on display and the contents of his wallet with increasing disappointment.
After a moment or two, he sighs, and snaps the wallet shut.]
It would be cheaper to get a drink any home, anyway.
[D. wild card]
[Throw a prompt my way and I will do my utmost not to fumble and drop it like the failure at sports I am.]
C
Ahaha...actually, I'm not sure about that. I think we need a new coffee pot.
[Guess who got it in his head to try to make coffee again despite all evidence clearly stating he should never do that??]

College - OTA
[It's only her first day and Yumeko's already running the risk of being late to her classes. She really should have spent more time in the preceding days getting used to the layout of Recolle U's campus, because now she's completely lost and confused when it counts the most. She wanders about aimlessly, looking left and right, even turning all the way around, searching for some sort of guiding landmarks or names of buildings. Finally, she just stops and sighs, feeling not a little bit defeated and disappointed with herself. Maybe a nice passerby would be willing to give this poor transfer student a hand in finding her way around?]
B. Class Time
[Yumeko's apparent interest levels in her various classes seem to vary dramatically. In her mathematics and economics classes, she'll be sitting upright with laser-focused attention and precise note-taking. However, in her gen ed courses, she looks as though she's completely bored. Her attention is anywhere but on the board at the front of the room. She's daydreaming away and starts to be at risk of actually nodding off completely. Her classmates are free to give her a soft nudge to keep her awake and avoiding attracting her teachers' ire. Or alternatively ask to compare notes with her after class if they share a mathematics or economics course with her.]
C. Getting a Jump-start on that Homework
[After her first day of classes wraps up, Yumeko visits one of the campus cafes to get a start on her homework. Yup, she's already getting to work. Or, at least she is on the classes that actually interest her. At her table, she's got her latte in hand, and she's flipping through a statistics textbook. Her free hand traces each line of text as she speedily runs through. Occasionally, she sets her drink down to jot down some notes or a particular problem in an open notebook. She also has a course syllabus by her left elbow open to the list of assignments page. Periodically, Yumeko will reach over and put down a check mark. Perhaps most surprising to anyone who walks by and notices, the page already seems to have a third of its list check-marked. Any of Yumeko's new classmates are free to come by and say hello, or even any passing strangers really who may be interested in what has this girl so invested.]

[Makoto is feeling pretty good cause he made it to the lecture hall without getting lost! He may have slept through his alarm and ate breakfast on the way, but the important thing is he didn't get lost! Now it's time for his first lecture of the day. He's double checked everything so he should be able to make all the notes he needs.
...You know maybe getting a morning lecture what's the best idea. He can be seen trying not to doze off if he's not doodling in his notebook or actually taking down a few notes.]
[B. Around Campus]
[Okay he finished his morning lecture now he has a break in between to explore the campus a little more. He's pretty proud when he can walk to the student center and library back with no problem. He can't help wandering over to the dorms though. He really wanted to live there, but his parents insisted on getting the apartment for him. He really wanted to have the full college experience by living in the dorms too! Oh well, it can't be helped. He stares at them for a little while longer before he wanders off to another part of campus. You can find him either at the coffeeshop scrolling through his phone or at the student center looking for something to eat. Anyone is free to bother him!]
[C. Afternoon classes ]
[Makoto made it to the afternoon! He ended up getting to the building for his literature class an hour earlier so he decides to wander around for a bit. Everything is much different here he wonders if he'll be able to remember it all. However, during his exploration he ends up in a few different places such as the art department, walking past the music room, or stopping off to the side to check the time again so he can get back to his class. He swears he's not lost this time! He just wanted to learn more about this building. Makoto isn't going to turn down if someone wanted to help him though.]
[D. Wildcard!]

[John Egbert is not the dude of time. He's not the best at keeping a schedule and college has pushed him enough to figure out exactly when he actually needs to be places, how long it takes to get to each place, and "no, John, you can't waste more time doing something else." For at least the first week of classes, students can see him dashing in just short of when classes are supposed to start, narrowing avoiding making a huge disturbance as he settles in.
Today, however, it appears time got away from him again and class has already started. English? Calculus? One of his other Gen Ed classes? Doesn't matter. In his frenzy to actually get to where he needs to be, he finds himself sneaking in as the professor's already begun the lesson, sliding into the open seat next to you and glancing up at the board.]
Hey. [Doesn't matter if he knows you or not, it's a friendly greeting paired with a grin as he keeps his voice low.] Did I miss anything important?
B.) THE THIRD MUSIC ROOM
[Though he had initially been reluctant to sign up for a composition course, John found that as September went on he was growing more and more inspired with his music. Trying to ignore something he loved probably wasn't the smartest idea, but he's definitely a little rusty in his writing.
Anyone passing by will hear snippets of a song from behind the cracked-open door, John occasionally stopping and starting again. Check it out? Yell at him for not closing the door the whole way? Something else? He won't mind the distraction.]
C.) BIG NERD ON CAMPUS
[The nice thing about the RU campus is that it's fairly large and allows him space to wander where he pleases. He can be found walking between various buildings, getting a sense of his surroundings and familiarizing himself with paths.
Afternoons, John can be found in the library with a stack of books and papers in front of him and while he seems like he might be attempting to study, instead he's busy trying to balance a pen on his upperlip. Science is not his forte, but at the same time…
…he'll eventually get up to weave through bookshelves, tracking down a book he needs for a class and reaching for it at the same time as you. He looks momentarily surprised to see someone else there but he also doesn't let go of the book? Okay, John.]
Sorry. Did you need this?
[Later, however, John can be found at a coffee shop disdainfully eyeing what looks like a pumpkin spice latte, taking a sip and making a face before he turns to add more cinnamon to the cup.]
How did these things get to be so popular anyway…?
