TEAM BRANDYWINE LOG
|
After that strange Retrospec post, you may be wondering how to contact this "technician". Luckily, your phone or whatever device you have handy to check the network chooses that exact second to go haywire... Team Brandywine roster: Ann Takamaki, Chiyo Sakura, Elda Marker, Fynn Rygdea, Goro Majima, Jiroutachi, Kurama, May, Shouta Aizawa, Sora, Sorey, Souji Okia (PM). On whatever device you use to view the retrospec application, you may note the following scrolling on the screen instead of the usual options: ALERT: CRITICAL TIME-SPACE ANOMALY ACTIVE. SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... DESIGNATED ADMIN CANDIDATE: EMPLOYEE #91962 M. MAHONEY PLEASE INPUT AUTHORIZATION CODE. The prompt does not seem to be for you, however, as the text prompts continue to scroll, this time with some input. > ********************** ACCEPT ADMIN STATUS Y/N? > y DESIGNATE PROGRAM TO RUN. PLEASE BE ADVISED WE ARE SYSTEM CRITICAL. > run subroutine designation echolocation-alpha CONFIRMED. EMPLOYEES ACTIVE IN AREA: 2 > list employees EMPLOYEES ACTIVE: M. FITZWILLIAM LEVEL 0 ACCESS, INTERN M. MAHONEY FULL SYSTEM ACCESS, ADMIN > search for alternative assets CONFIRMED. SENDING ALTERNATIVE ASSET LIST. Names scroll by on the screen. and look, there goes yours! It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up. > initialize support team CONFIRMED. TEAM DESIGNATION? > brandywine CONFIRMED. TEAM BRANDYWINE MISSION PARAMETERS? PLEASE BE ADVISED SYSTEM ENERGY LEVELS ARE CRITICALLY LOW. > make contact with sysadmin > contact point entrance 2 > temporary access level 1 granted CONFIRMED. MISSION PARAMETERS SET. TEMPORARY ACCESS LEVEL 1 GRANTED. The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM BRANDYWINE as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point. Team Brandywine's access point is in the Recollé University Basement. Team members will find a door in a hallway they've never seen before so long as they approach it in a group of two or more team members. Only Team Brandywine team members can see or enter the basement sublevels at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they enter the door! The door looks like an ordinary key-card locked door, although it will open without need of a card for Team Brandywine members so long as the entry requirements are met. This is the Team Brandywine Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Brandywine is as follows: WEEK 1: Objective 1; CLEAR: M. Mahoney; MauriceObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. NPC interactions will be rnged from your team roster once per week, and toplevels for those will also be posted, although all team members can hear/see these interactions! |

...Well, god knows we're not picking 4, that's bad luck to the extreme.]
One, two, three...five. That's curious.
[Hmmm.]
...On one hand, all of these numbers are primes — that is, only divisible by themselves and the number one. The next prime number in the sequence would be seven...
[A beat.]
But on the other hand, they also form a Fibonacci series — a set of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two that precede it. One and two makes three; two and three make five. So five and three would make eight.
[Thanks, nerd-o-tron.]
...Which do you think, then? Seven or eight?
no subject
I dunno what all of that means, but they're both lucky numbers. But 8 kinda means infinity, right? -She remembered the people at the community center mentioning that in her Japanese lessons.-

Uh, let's try one an' then the other. Eight first an' then seven, I guess? Wanna do the honors, Fawkes?

[INPUT: 8]

probably good? it doesn't seem to make anything immediately obviously bad happen, anyway.
the console prompt refigures itself into: 128 64 32 16 8.
the mod text will be silent until you input another number. ]

[ that's great?? ]
Hm...64's half of 128, right?
no subject
[thanks, video games.]
So, half of eight is four. Likely that's our next number.

the console now reads: 1 2 4 8 16
so apparently they have to do math at least 2 more times. so far so good? ]
no subject
[ he SIGHS about more math!! gosh guys. at least between fawkes' speech and the fact he really does do math because of owning a business he's got this. ]
So this one's 32?

now fawkes might really have to earn his keep. the console now reads: 1 32 81 64 25
because saving the worst for last is never a bad choice, or something. ]

[ fawkes its all you ]

Well...they're all squares, save for 32. The square root of one is one, the square root of eighty-one is nine, the square root of sixty-four is eight, and the square root of twenty-five is five. Which begs the question of how thirty-two is different...if it were squares, it ought to be thirty-six.
[HMMM.]
...But sixty-four is also a cube root. Four to the third...
[...]
...Hold on. Two times two is four, times two is eight, times two is sixteen, times two is thirty-two. So two to the...fifth...is thirty-two...
[......]
...And three to the fourth is eighty-one. Nine times nine, or three times three times three times three.
[..........]
Two to the fifth, three to the fourth, four to the third, five to the second. And one to the power of anything is still always one — including one to the sixth. So the last number in the sequence is...six to the first, which is six.

[ there was a lot that happened there, but majima puts 6 in as the next number, which is where fawkes stopped. ]

...
this all looks very interesting but doesn't really illuminate what all it's doing for them. however, the room is clear and they are free to go and assist their other teammates if they want. team brandywine is 2/4 rooms to goal.
if they head back to the terminal they will be able to see that it looks more lit up than before, but not all the way as of yet. ]

We should find something else to beat up.

[ but he's all for punching other things - that's probably how he ends up punching cows with elda ]
no subject
[He shrugs.]
Likely we won't find any other answers here.

Let's heave ho our way outta this mystery, and take out anyone that isn't gonna let us.
