After that strange Retrospec post, you may be wondering how to contact this "technician". Luckily, your phone or whatever device you have handy to check the network chooses that exact second to go haywire...

On whatever device you use to view the retrospec application, you may note the following scrolling on the screen instead of the usual options:

Names scroll by on the screen. and look, there goes yours! It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up.

The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM BRANDYWINE as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point.

Team Brandywine's access point is in the Recollé University Basement. Team members will find a door in a hallway they've never seen before so long as they approach it in a group of two or more team members. Only Team Brandywine team members can see or enter the basement sublevels at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they enter the door! The door looks like an ordinary key-card locked door, although it will open without need of a card for Team Brandywine members so long as the entry requirements are met.

This is the Team Brandywine Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!

The schedule for Team Brandywine is as follows:

Objectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. NPC interactions will be rnged from your team roster once per week, and toplevels for those will also be posted, although all team members can hear/see these interactions!

Good plan. Just keep the light on them.

[It would be foolish to involve Jirou directly in the fight in the stat he's in, but they actually need someone to hold the light who doesn't need his hands for other stuff. Even so...

He quickly digs the taser out of his pocket and tosses it on the floor next to Jirou.] Use it if they get too close. Please don't aim it at us.

[A glance sideways at Ann.] How about I try to keep them occupied and you finish them off? [He poses it as a question, but a moment later he's already darting forward under the arm of the monster closest to them, giving it a hard whack in passing, and then quickly jumping out of the way before one of his two friends manage to skewer him.

It does draw their attention to him, but it's a bit of a mixed blessing.]

Alright!

[ it's a good plan, because ann's really gotta take some time to aim her darkness blasts now. she steps back as soujirou fights, holding her hands out and aiming right at the one he'd hit earlier.

out comes a darkness blast, flying and successfully hitting the monster, having caught it off-guard; it's finished, though. now as for the other two... ]

Can you do the same thing to the other two? It makes it easier for me to aim when they're not moving around so much!

[Picking up the taser, he holds the phone up tall. Not hard since he towers over the two he's with. He's trying to stay back but he has to keep moving to make sure to keep the other two in sight.

Jirou shifts his bag and finds he wants to help out more. But he has no fighting abilities to speak of...

He frowns before realizing one of the two has slipped towards him. Shifting away, he holds the taser before him.]

If you make me sober up fighting you, you'll regret it.

I'll... try.

[Soujirou would love to help Jirou over there, but he's already got the other creature charging at him, so he's just going to have to hold his own. It's pretty obvious that the enemy's sword is a whole lot better and more to the point (hah) sharper than his replica, so for a moment or two he has no choice but to back slowly away in between the desks and chairs, dodging rather than parrying.

And then there's nowhere to back up to, and Soujirou only just manages to deflect a swipe at his neck by locking blades, the naked edge still resting dangerously against his shoulder. If he could just get it to hold this position just a moment longer without dying-

Kicking up desperately, hard against its exposed solar plexus, he manages to unbalance it slightly, buying a second or two before it drives him to his knees. Hopefully that's enough time for Ann.]

[ watching them fight makes her nervous. she's shaking, hoping that soujirou doesn't get seriously hurt, but it's clear he at least knows what he's doing?

and then that kick. that kick seemed like it hurt and it's more than enough time for ann, and she feels herself getting anxious at the prospect of missing--but she fires again at the unbalanced demon, hitting it successfully and it howls as it turns into dust.

score. ]

Got it!

[ jirou may not need that taser, after all--except maybe he will, because the last one is running right at him! ]

[He really isn't sure if it's because of the memory he suddenly is experiencing or if it's instinct or what it is. But when that last one rushes him, he holds the taser firmly with the button pushed on.]

Jeez, I've completely sobered up... This is going to be costly for you!

[He has no idea why he says that because it's what he's saying in the memory in his head. All the same, he moves forward and thrusts the taser into the thing's face to send the electricity coursing through it. Of course the results of that are the arms jolting and slamming into him so that he's thrown back against a wall but at least he somehow avoids being hit with the sword.

And now the thing is distracted enough for the other two to take it down.]

[He could almost cry with relief when the darkness bolt disintegrates his opponent, and the pressure on his sword is released. He springs back to his feet, feeling his lungs burn unpleasantly with the strain, but there's no time to take it easy now. He rushes forward, vaulting recklessly over a desk and knocking over chairs in his rush to get to Jirou.

At least he's clever enough to stop dead before barreling right into the creature while Jirou is still tasering it, remembering just in time how that will shock him too. But only a moment later Jirou is knocked back, and Soujirou brings down his sword hard on the flailing arm still holding the sword, knocking it out of its grasp.

If it's defenseless, that'll give Ann more time to aim.]

[ whoa...jirou! that was so cool--but he's still in trouble, it seems, as ann aims her final darkness blast at the beast. and then soujirou's rushing at it, knocking down chairs and he gets to jirou in time. and then, he cuts through the arm, knocking the sword out of the monster's grasp.

man...man! her teammates are so cool! but now, it's ann's time to shine. ]

Let's finish this!

[ she sends her darkness blast at it, and it nearly hits jirou and soujirou in the process--and maybe it does, just a little, because she's still new to this. but what matters is that it successfully takes out the demon, and as soon as it's all clear? ann rushes inside the classroom immediately. ]

Hey! Hey, you guys okay?!

[Jirou winces as he sits up, rubbing his head now that he realizes it sort of hit the wall. What is this memory he just experienced? Him fighting like that? Getting stronger while sober? Just...what?]

I don't know...

[He reaches for his bag and looks through it then sighs. A smile appears.]

I'm okay.

[And he pulls out a bottle of wine and opens it up to have a nice loooooooong drink.]

[He does catch some of the recoil of that darkness blast, sending him reeling backwards until he catches himself on a desk. To be honest, maybe it's what he deserves for being so single-minded while fighting that he couldn't help but charge in indiscriminately.

He leans against the desk, feeling just a bit whoozy, and laughs quietly in response to Ann's question.]

Ask me that again when the room stops spinning. [But there's a teasing lilt in his voice, so he's probably not all that serious.] I think we dealt with that pretty well, though, all things considered.

[ she'd be more proud of herself if she wasn't worried about them, honestly, but she's glad that they used teamwork to finish those guys off. great job, team.

she rushes to their aid, scanning them for any injuries. ]

Are any of you hurt? I don't know if we have any first-aid around, but we can make something, I think...

Ummmm...well things don't hurt so much when you're drunk.

[Pause. HE REMEMBERS SOMETHING.]

I was supposed to make Soujirou hide!

[He bursts out into giggles.]

Shhhhh...don't tell FaiFai I forgot.

[He blinks in surprise as he parses what Jirou just said, then giggles too.]

Oh, he just fusses a lot. Don't worry, I won't breathe a word.

[He offers Ann a reassuring smile, tilting his head back to indicate his backpack.]

I did bring a first aid kit, in case we need it. But really, I'm quite fine. Just a bit rattled and winded.

[And relieved, really, that he didn't have to be the one to finish off these monsters, which looked far too human for comfort. It's selfish, but there it is.]

FaiFai?

[ who is that? ann asks curiously before backing away, seeing that neither of them are really injured. she lets out a sigh in relief. ]

Phew... I'm glad we're all in once piece, at least. I could use a breather after that...

I'd offer both of you wine but I think at least one of you is underage.

[He has another drink then slowly gets to his feet as he looks around.]

It really is a classroom...

A mutual friend. [A beat.] And at least I'm not, but I think alcohol tastes terrible.

[SORRY JIROU.

Soujirou twists around to stare around the room too, noticing more details now that the whole world isn't divided into "enemies", "friends" and "obstacles".]

Looks like it. I mean, we are under the university, I suppose, but... I doubt ordinary students ever go here.

Yeah... I don't ever remember there being a basement classroom, really. Even though I don't go here, I don't remember this showing up on the map...

[ so...why is it down here? who would have classes in a basement, anyway?

and then, to jirou: ] And why did you bring alcohol with you, out of all things?

[Jirou's eyes widen at Soujirou's words and he hugs his bag to him.]

Shhh...he didn't mean it. You're delicious I promise.

[A pause and he looks to Ann.]

Hm? So I can be drunk.

[No seriously. He means exactly what he said.]

I'm a divine being that needs alcohol to stay holy apparently.

I'm pretty sure I've been through the corridor back where we entered a couple of times, and I've never seen that door before. It's probably something to do with the "clearance" we were granted by Retrospec.

[He detached himself from the desk he's leaning on, walking up to the thing that was probably supposed to fill the function of a whiteboard in the classroom. Running his fingers over it, he notices it feels more like a screen.]

I wonder if there's a way to switch these on... We should look around. Anyway, I guess once Jirou's bottles are empty, we could use them to throw and distract monsters with. It's worked for me with full bottles.

...Uh-huh... [ she sounds more confused than affirmative, and gives jirou a confused look. why...drunk....okay. well. questions later. time for exploring!

she follows soujirou to the whiteboard, and then to the desk in front of it. ]

Should we check if there's anything in here? It...feels pretty invasive, since this is a classroom, after all. But...

[He goes over with them and then looks at the desk too before plopping in the chair so he can start fishing through the drawers.]

Does this look important?

[He holds up the papers he found up for the other two to look at. Apparently he doesn't mind being invasive!]

We were granted access, weren't we? So I'm sure it's fine if we look around.

[Not to mention that he's not too fussed about being invasive toward Retrospec, considering they're plenty invasive all on their own and could do with a dose of their own medicine.

He leans forward to study the papers Jirou holds up.]

Looks kind of like a circuit diagram, doesn't it? You know, the kind they'd give you in science class showing you how to short out five batteries and still not make the lamp work? [Science wasn't his strong suit, okay?]

[ this is true. retrospec has been invasive more than enough. ]

Huh... That's funny, why would it be in here? Is this for the whiteboard?

[ not like ann knows anything about this kind of stuff, but?? ]

I think it's at least worth showing the others. Maybe it'll help us turn the power back on!

[He laughs a little.]

Um...could one of you go? I kinda want to sit here and drink for a little bit. I hurt.

[You know, after being thrown into a wall and all that.]

[Soujirou grins and nods, taking the diagram from Jirou.]

Don't worry. I can just run over to them with this.

[Because he wants a moment out of sight to pull himself together... but also to be helpful. He flashes a smile at Ann.]

Could you look after him, maybe? I don't think I want to leave him alone just sitting around in a room like this. [Drunk as fuck, he means.]
