Hm?

[ David runs a hand through his hair, his fringe flipping back into his face before he lets out a huff to blow it out of his eyes after it falls back into his face. He looks over to her phone, pulling out his own and unlocking the screen to look at the digital card - and frowns. His isn't even filled in at this point, only with the center square prompt of "be someone else's Bodyguard for a day". ]

Yeah, kind of, I guess? Not sure how to really feel about it.

Hopefully it's mostly harmless. Most of the challenges seem that way, at least.

[She peers over his shoulder at his card, arching an eyebrow.]

Weren't you Yoon-sung's bodyguard before? That square should be easy to fill.

[negativism]

I still am, technically. So it's more figuring out someone else to keep an eye on for a day.

[ Beat. ]

And figuring out a good enough excuse as to why I'm not watching him like a hawk. [ Not because his boss would be worried, he'd probably think it were a good thing. ]

[complementing]

[She stifles a laugh behind her hand.]

Well, I don't know about the last part, but if you need someone to bodyguard, I have a square about making contracts that I think would work perfectly with yours.

It's more something I need to figure out. I can come up with something. He just needs the fear of god put into him so he behaves while I'm busy.

[ David gives a bit of a sarcastic smirk at that. He may be more of a glorified babysitter than an actual bodyguard and personal assistant half the time, but it all works out.

The smirk does drop from his face when Minako brings up the contracts, tapping his chin in thought. ]

I mean, that could work.

I think it could! I'm a lenient master, I wouldn't mind giving you a lot of breaks to go check on Yoon-sung for the week you have the contract with me.

[She smiles wryly.]

I don't technically need someone to be my bodyguard anyways. I know how to take care of myself.

[negativism]

You make a tempting offer.

[ He grins right back then - and gives a thumbs-up. ]

And not gonna lie, but I would feel a bit more comfortable leaving you to defend yourself than him. half the time he makes any excuse he can to get out of practice like this.

Ooh, score one for Minako.

[She laughs as she pumps her fist in the air.]

I can kind of understand, though. What's that quote? You can lead a horse to water but not make it drink? He's probably resisted for so long that he's become hard-wired to try and get out of it.

At any rate-- [She adopts a snooty expression, sticking her nose up in the air. She can't quite hide her mischievous smile, though.] As your master, I order you to make sure Yoon-sung is alright during the week you're my bodyguard.

[negativism]

Apparently he says he's willing to actually try sparring with me now, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

[ Boy do you have another thing coming, buddy.

But at this point when Minako tries to make herself look haughty, it only ends with David cackling before he gives a small salute. ]

Yes, ma'am.

Good! [She relaxes all at once. Being snooty sure takes a lot of work.] Not gonna lie, I kind of want to see how that match goes...but I'm sure I'll hear about it the next time we meet up for sparring.

Probably!

[ It's definitely nice to have people he can vent to about his charge being ridiculous, at the very least. Even if half of them are also friends with Yoon-sung as well. ]

I'd almost say we can probably convince someone to take video of it, but I'd rather not let that leak out, I think.

[complementing]

Oh no, that'd be bad. We're not here to ruin his public image. [A pause.] Though I don't know if his public image is good or not? I vaguely recall him telling me a while back about he is or was known as a playboy...

Is - a bit. Though I've actually been impressed by his restraint lately.

[ He takes a swig of water, letting it puff out his cheeks a bit before swallowing. ]

It wouldn't necessarily destroy his public image, but it could make things a bit awkward. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to risk it.

[She nods in complete agreement, and then waves a hand. No need to continue on about Yoon-sung!]

By the way, how should we agree on this contract? Do you want it in writing, or is a handshake good enough?

Not sure, there any specifics you need for it to count? I'd be good either way - long as I'm doing the bodyguard thing for just a day, it'll count on my end.

[ Right, he's off the clock, he doesn't need to worry about his charge. He's supposed to have a life outside of work, goddammit. ]

Aside from it being a week, nothing else. So let's shake on it!

[She sticks out her hand with a grin.]

Alright! [ That works for him. David takes her hand and gives it a firm shake, nodding. ]

Just text me when you need me, shouldn't be too hard to get back to you if anything comes up.

You got it! [She streeeeetches and then nods, hopping up onto her feet.] See you again next week? I'm starting to get the hang of these kickboxing moves.

[ There's a few moments where David looks like he's in a daze after they shake on it - he's recognizing that it's another weird hallucinomemory, this time of a vague face and signing what he can only get is a contract, but the words aren't familiar at all.

He shakes his head for a second to snap himself out of it, and lets out a huff of air before he stands as well. ]

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. Same time works for you?

[complementing]

[She recognizes the look because she's gone through it and seen so many other friends wear it, so Minako waits patiently until he responds again, nodding.]

Yup!

You got a memory just now, didn't you. You okay?

[He's not distraught or angry or anything so she's assuming it was a tamer one, but she wants to ask just in case.]

[negativism]

Yeah.

[ It's an answer to both questions at this point. David's nodding before he gives a small, apologetic smile. Still not used to it. ]

Nothing too bad, anyway. I'm more worried about it coming up in the middle of something, but it hasn't been anything really bad so far, surprisingly.

Though who knows, I probably jinxed it at this point.

[complementing]

Aaah, quick, knock on wood!

[Reassured that he's okay, she nudges him off in the direction of the wood walls.]

[negativism]

Shit, you're right -

[ He's letting her nudge him toward the wall, stumbling for a step or two before regaining his balance. Once there, he knocks three time, just in case. ]

There. Should keep that from happening.

[complementing]

[She nods in approval, snickering as she hefts her bag onto her shoulder.]

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. See you next week, David!

[She waves good bye with a wiggle of her fingers and leaves the room.

Only to peek back in a couple minutes later.]

...do bodyguard duties include walking a girl to her car when it's getting dark out and there's a pair of dumb cat-calling muscle heads hanging out in the parking lot?

Yeah!

[ He's about to head over to grab his bag, giving her a quick wave with one hand before stuffing his water bottle into the bag so he could get moving, probably get something to eat on the way home -

And he turns with a surprised blink when Minako pokes her head back inside, only for him to nod. ]
