[She nods in approval, snickering as she hefts her bag onto her shoulder.]

[She waves good bye with a wiggle of her fingers and leaves the room.

Only to peek back in a couple minutes later.]

...do bodyguard duties include walking a girl to her car when it's getting dark out and there's a pair of dumb cat-calling muscle heads hanging out in the parking lot?

Yeah!

[ He's about to head over to grab his bag, giving her a quick wave with one hand before stuffing his water bottle into the bag so he could get moving, probably get something to eat on the way home -

And he turns with a surprised blink when Minako pokes her head back inside, only for him to nod. ]

As you wish. Gimme a sec to make sure I got everything and we can head out.

[She breathes out a little sigh of relief.]

Thank you so much. I could handle them if it were light out, but nighttime is a whole different story. They get really aggressive then.

[negativism]

Don't worry about it. Just think of it as my first night on the job.

[ David gives her a small smile of reassurance before he double-checks his duffel to make sure he's got everything inside. Satisfied with that, he slings it back over his shoulder and gets ready to head out with her walking alongside him. ]

C'mon. Worst-case scenario, I can probably put them on their backs in about ten seconds. And you can see it in a more practical aspect.

[Oh, that puts the grin back in its place.]

...is it bad that I kind of want you to do it anyways for that exact reason?

I mean I could?

[ He has to bite his lip to keep from laughing at the prospect. Though knowing the kind of guys that would probably be catcalling Minako when she was on her way home, they'd be more likely to not cause trouble just because he's walking with her. They'll just have to wait and see for sure. ]

And I guess that one of the big rules of most martial arts is to use your powers for good, so. We'll see?

Right, right, power and responsibility and all that jazz.

[She pouts into the air, even though she gets it. Picking a fight is the best way to ensure you don't get out of it without some collateral damage.

She really would like to see David's skills in practice, though. From an outsider's view, that is, not when he's the one flipping her onto the mat.

They stroll out into the parking lot, and Minako sees that the two men haven't moved from where she'd last seen them. They definitely have their eyes on her, but with David at her side, there aren't any catcalls to be had. So she stares right back for a few seconds, and then glances towards her car, breathing out.]

[negativism]

Hey, the comics have to get something right once in a while.

[ Though the transition from concerned friend to bodyguard mode is actually impressive in and of itself - while David's in street clothes, his posture is more rigid, eyes narrowed while they walk. His own gaze flicks over to the two who Minako had mentioned were harassing her, shooting them the most unimpressed glare he can muster while keeping a hand hovered over her back - it's too easy to settle into an old habit of his when he was protecting Yoon-sung.

It's not until they're closer to her car that he relaxes, if only a little. ]

[complementing]

[For Minako, getting to her car means she's safe, so she turns to him and gives him the brightest smile she can manage.]

I could hug you right now, I'm so relieved they didn't try anything. Next time I'll leave earlier so this doesn't happen again.

[negativism]

[ He breaks the stoic demeanor at that point, nodding with his own small smile at it. ]

Don't worry about it. Think they'll at least be a bit more hesitant the next time they try pulling it. Hopefully. Do what you feel comfortable doing - if you want me to show you some takedowns or holds, let me know.

Maaaaybe if you're demonstrating them on someone else first. My back needs a break from how much you've put me through the wringer.

[Her muscles, they are sore. She's so looking forward to a bath after this. Minako unlocks her car and gives him one final smile over the door.]

[ David flashes her a grin, dimples on full display as he raises his hands in mock-surrender. ]

Hey, just saying! But I mean I could see if I can drag Yoon-sung into it, maybe get his lazy ass in gear and have him help me demonstrate. Who knows.

[ It's not a conversation about self-defense/fighting training without David dragging his boss. Sorry not sorry. ]
