[She laughs, happy, bright, and without breaking into a fit.]
I'm just taking advice from the real professionals on the internet. Gotta fake it till you make it, right?
no subject
[ Said with a bit of a smile. Is he being serious, or... ]
You read up about this on the internet? Your dedication is impressive, as always. Well then, I'll follow your lead.
[ Stepping out of his flip flops, Yu will drive the heel of his foot into the sand, head tilted curiously, noting the give and consistency of it. ]
Where should we start, sensei?
no subject
Well, we start by digging of course. We need a lot of sand. One recommendation I saw was to make a wide mound first. And then sculpt it afterwards.
[She'll take the trenching shovel and use the pick end to scrape a circle about five feet across in the sand.]
Let's pile it here. It's going to take a lot of work but we've got several hours till the tide gets back up here.
no subject
Alright. I'll put the life of our sandcastle in your capable hands.
[ Getting down on his knees, he'll start to shovel sand into the circle she's indicated. They'll be here a while... ]
How's summer been treating you, Yukiko-san?
no subject
[She may be humming a little tune as she digs. Fuuka has been introducing her to the wider corners of the internet.]
I'm moving into my apartment soon. With Eleanor and a new girl who moved to town for school. Fuuka Yamagishi?
ax lmao what the hell is this song
Speaking of, Souji and I will need to move soon... [ A thoughtful frown. ] We should really start the process soon.
the best song
[Dig, dig, sing with me.]
Are you two going into the dorms? Or are you finding an apartment?
it has been stuck in my head for the last 24 hours. i hate you.
That's really kind of you. I hope I can come visit the three of you, sometime.
[ Abandoning his shovel to use his hands, Yu will keep pitching sand into their circle. ]
We'll probably move into the college dorms. Whichever option is cheapest and most convenient, I imagine. Though, we'll have to sneak the cats in, again...
I'm so glad!
You can. I was thinking of doing a sort of housewarming in August, actually. Eleanor enjoys your company, and it's not like I'd ever turn anyone away. Besides, Al likes you.
[A pause, because...]
You've snuck cats into a dorm before?
no subject
[ shrugs and keeps on shoveling sand ]
no subject
[That's good to know...]
Honestly part of why I went for this place is because I didn't want to abandon Al to my parents. He's such a weird dog.
no subject
[ Conversationally. He'll pause in his digging, and start trying to shape up some of the sand they've shoveled. It's not nearly enough yet, but maybe the can get something of a foundation going... ]
no subject
[This is a pug thing apparently.]
Also he gets along really well with cats. But not other dogs.
no subject
Like, actually pauses in his motions to blink at her, once or twice.
Then kind of glances down at the sand and says thoughtfully: ]
I'd like to get a video of that. I bet it'd go viral if you put it on the internet.
[ Looks up at her again with a small smile. ]
Maybe sometime you should bring him by the apartment. I'd like to see how he'd get along with our cats.
[ Yu keeps on shaping the sand, patting it down as he goes. They don't have much yet, but the beginnings of the foundation are there. ]
no subject
[She freezes up a little bit when he does, waiting for the moment to pass, stopping her work. This is weird. That was weird. Really, really weird.]
What happened?
[She'll come back around to the dog and cat tale, despite knowing Cream-san hates Al Capug already. That look though...]
Is everything okay?
no subject
Huh? Everything's fine. Why?
no subject
[It reminded her of Elizabeth the other day...]
Memory? Or the sun getting to you?
no subject
Oh, I was just picturing how cute it must be when Al squishes his face on things... I guess I must have spaced out a little. Sorry.
no subject
[This is...not really setting her mind at ease though. There's been some stuff going on that's been bugging her, but now's not the time.]
Do you actually like dogs, Yu? Or are you exclusively a cat person?
no subject
Once he kind of awkwardly shakes that off, he'll look up at her again. ]
I'm probably a little bit more of a dog person than Souji is, actually. I like both.
no subject
I did get that feeling. I met Souji at the charity shelter party and he and Cream-san seemed pretty nervous around Al.
[Though come on, who wouldn't be?]
no subject
no subject
[Back to work then, the base really taking shape.]
About the only thing I see the two of you having in common is surface things. Cats and looks.
no subject
We have more in common than that...
[ Softly, as if he isn't quite sure if he believes the words himself. ]
no subject
Maybe it's just that my relationship with the two of you is so radically different. I think I just see different sides of you.
[She's...not really conscious enough of what he's saying to pick up that something is wrong, or that something might even be wrong.]
I mean, you know him best, Yu. But from my perspective, you're both distinct.
