It's a lot of fun, I think. I like this game. Probably the best thing Retrospec has done.

I think so too. It's certainly a lot better than the time they shrunk us.

I know I've told you about Chie, but do you remember Shadows at all yet?

[ Ahh, this is going to be a serious conversation, huh... Souji reels back in his kite so he can put his focus on Yukiko and the topic. ]

... Are those the monsters inside the TV?

[ He doesn't know what they're called but he can guess based on the tone and since they've discussed the TV World last time ]

Yes. and in Minako's tower. Though I don't know what exactly they are aside from monsters that look like Picasso's nightmares.

Have you seen the ones that look like people yet, though? That's what I'm asking.

[ Souji shakes his head. ]

No, not yet, but... [ He thinks back to one of his earlier memories. ] I don't know if it was a dream or if it's even related but I was in a space that felt like the TV world. I came across a foggy figure there who talked about seeking the truth.

[ He's referring to that one dream sequence with Izanami, though he doesn't know who he was speaking to or the significance of that dream just yet. ]

I don't know if that matches the type of Shadows you're talking about though.

Not quite. But it's certainly creepy.

[Still...]

Basically though, sometimes I see shadows of people. Often in this weird fighting arena. Like...this one I'm thinking of looked like that girl Chie. Only she had yellow eyes and a mean smile. And she kept saying all these horrible, horrible things to Chie.

It...made me really, really angry. Scary angry.

I haven't received anything like that...

[ Souji can see why that can be really unsettling and upsetting. ]

Have you talked to the others and see if they've gotten anything similar?

Some. But not...really what they were saying.

[A beat.]

Or about how angry I got. I beat her up. The Shadow, I mean. I got violent.

[ Now that's something he didn't expect. Yukiko getting violent? He knows that she can lose her temper or have her patience tested but to actually resort to being physical? It's a bit difficult to imagine (even though she told him that she totally set a giant bug on fire). ]

Did your hallucinomemories show you what happened after you fought it? I never saw what happened when I defeated the Shadows in mine.

She just sort of vanished. Like...a ghost or something. Turned into ectoplasm.

[That's about the best way she can describe it.]

I think that Arena is a part of the TV World. And I'm sure that those copies aren't real, but it was still...frightening.

That definitely is an unpleasant hallucinomemory. I'm sorry you had to experience that, Yukiko.
