[there is no good answer to that statement. He rubs his forehead where the rock hit, and then gives Souji a Look.

There's no better bonding experience than, well, thumb warring and then getting destroyed by a tow truck.

Pretty sure this is a sign for both of us. Now I'm not even sure any Uber driver will let us in their car.

[ And as Mako mentions Uber drivers, their Uber arrives right now... after splashing them with the dirty muddy water once more. ]

I think you may be right...

[ As Souji opens the back door of their Uber (after clearing away his very wet bangs), he is suddenly bombarded with yelling. This Uber driver definitely does not want these two dirty men in his car and is yelling just that. If they even get in, he's slamming them with one serious cleaning bill and he assures them that it won't be cheap!! ]

[ ... do they dare to still get in?? ]

[truth be told, Mako isn't sure he wants the bill. He sighs and then looks at Souji.]

There's probably a bus stop somewhere nearby. Let's just... get that. It's cheaper anyway.

[he pulls out his phone to look that up. After clicking out of his music app, abandoned by all those with hope, he opens the uber app to check their last drive.

Somehow...

He goes a little bug eyed at the price of the uber they took out there.]

Hey... Did you get an uber with surge pricing...?

[ Souji nods in agreement and just cancels the trip on his phone. Of course, he gets hit with a $5 cancellation fee so that hurts... but when Mako mentions the pricing with the uber, he looks down at his phone and goes through his uber history. When he sees the price, he almost double takes. ]

... It didn't say anything about surge pricing when I called it.

[ Oh my god, why did this happen... ]

Let's just try to catch the bus first and sit down...

[ So then they can sit and talk about it but ah! Look, isn't that their bus right there? It looks like it's about to leave! ]

[this was like being in the hands of an angry god. someone, somewhere, had decided that they were not going to have a good day at all. How were they ever supposed to discover if they could leave or not, with luck like this?]

[and of course, the rain increases-- just in time to make it hard to see more than a foot ahead of them.

That at least helps with the mud, right? But Mako can faintly hear the doors slam shut on the bus, and its wheels start rolling.

He frowns.

He folds his arms.

Then he shoots a Look at Souji.]

You are some serious bad luck.

[ Souji hasn't given up trying to chase after the bus once the rain started pouring down harder. No driver wants to be out right now and they probably can't even see Mako and Souji in their mirrors. He just... accepts his defeat. ]

Why am I the one with the bad luck? Maybe it's you.

Maybe it's both of us together.

[pause.

No, he had a perfectly good life bef-- nevermind. Maybe there is some possibility that it's him spreading all the bad luck.

Not that he'll ever admit it.]

[ Souji makes a face that seems to disagree and just shakes his head. ]

[ And these two will probably keep on disagreeing back and forth on whose bad luck is affecting all the way until they finally get back home. What a happy day. ]
